We traveled from SF to LA staying in HIE hotels. This is the only one we would not recommend. Upon arrival we made 4 or 5 trips from our 2nd floor room back to the front desk because the lock on our room only worked randomly. Staff finally said they'd have engineering look at it. No improvement. No offer of a different room. The plants in most of the second floor planters have been long dead. I suffered acute dust mite inflammation from the A/C unit. I assume the filters do not get changed. The front desk staff smile and make excuses. They are poorly trained in customer service and not proactive on the customers behalf. The $10 parking fee just adds insult to injury.
On the bright side, the breakfast staff were friendly and attentive.
There are many new hotels in the area. Next year we'll be at one of those instead.

Room furnishings are dated, refrigerator didn't work and bathroom lacked shampoo. Parking surcharge of $10 is a joke. Won't stay at this property again.

The room and the staff are always wonderful, comfortable, clean room and kind and helpful staff.
The only downside was some noisy and annoying neighbors, but that's not the hotel's fault.

we have stay at this Holiday Inn for about 5 yrs. Every year we stay here while vacationing in Ventura/Santa Barbara. The rooms are comfortable, roomy and quiet. The breakfast that is offered is BREAKFAST! Not juice and donuts, they had the full spread.
We love it here and recommend highly

I travel a lot but my one night opportunity to stay at the Ventura Holiday Inn express was remarkable. Great location. Great value.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in, bar none. It is a beautiful setting, it is run by real professionals, and is always a pleasure to stay here. Many thanks to Grace, Rosemary, and Andrew for their efficient, friendly, and superb running of this place. Highly recommended.

I travel for work weekly and must say I was super disappointed in this property. Super old, needs a lot of work. I stay at HIE because I can usually count on being comfortable and having a clean room.
Also, they apparently share a kitchen with an adjoining property, not sure of what chain it is - ordered room service, a club sandwich no turkey. Got a club sandwich with no turkey and just about no bacon - literally, there were two pieces of bacon.
Won't be coming back to this facility.
Also, I left my makeup bag in the room, have left a message and have not gotten a call back.
Do yourself a favor, make the drive to the next HIE and pass on this location.
