Our check-in was very easy and a welcome surprise. The room was spacious and well kept, we had an abundance of pillows on each bed....BUT the beds were so hard it was difficult to get a real nights rest. All in all our stay was pleasant and maybe if they changed out the mattresses it would be a great place to break a trip or for a weekend get away.
I would like to add that the staff was very pleasant and greeted us each time we came in or left out.

I brought numerous issues to the attention of management upon leaving in the morning. At no time did I ask for a discount or a refund....nor was that my intent. I just did not want the next guest to have to deal with a broken shower head....a broken sink handle.....lights out in the bathroom. To provide this information and then have someone try to "defend" the issues....I WAS SHOCKED. I virtually live in hotels and over the last year I have been staying in more Courtyard Marriott's because they are more economical and always more "service" conscious.
I will still stay in Holiday Inns that I know to be good....but I will never stay in this one again.

When checking in front desk personnel was most unpleasant. My priority profile requests upper floor away from elevator. When requested routine water given to priority members was informed there was none and there was no attempt to get any, other than happened to see a small bottle sitting on the counter that wasn't routine water given. Staff was too busy interrupting my check-in for others who walked in the door with no reservation than attempting to complete my check-in. I requested manager's name and number and was told staff could not give me that information. I then requested a business card for the manager and of course the card had the number on it. When contacted, the general manager apologized and then made nothing but excuses for all the problems. I at least expected a follow-up (stayed 2 days because the only other decrnt hotel in Alexandria is Hampton Inn and it was sold out as well), but never received any. I at least expected that perhaps they would have found some water and left it in the room, but no,,,, only call I received was from front desk after I found my room to let me know about breakfast. Staff did not tell me what direction room was, where fitness center was, etc. when I checked in. Then, once in the room there was trash in the trash can. Next day housekeeping did not pick up trash that had fallen on floor behind trash can (which I did not see until my return from work that day). Total unpleasant experience. I travel extensively for work. Plan to not stay at this hotel again. Beware!!!'

1) Outlets in bathroom did not work
2) Water pressure was low and it took FOREVER to get hot water
3) All floors with vending machines were out of water and very low on snacks, went to front desk and they gave us water but charged us!!!
4) Bought a diet coke from the vending machine and it gave me a regular coke
5) Coffee grounds were in between cups and made a mess when we separated them. That shows that the cleaning staff did not even check/clean the area from the last time someone was in the room
6) Hot tub not working properly
7) A/C was not working in gym
8) A/C in room was not working properly
9) Room keys quit working

Just wanted to say that the people running HIE Alexandria are doing a great job. They are very warm, extremely friendly and helpful.

I've stayed at this property before because the location is convenient when I'm in the area on business. The room was too cold for me, I turned the heat up periodically during the evening and the room never got above 67 degrees. The temps outside were in the 50's during the night. I told the employee working the front desk that someone needed to check the heater in that room the next morning when I checked out and she didn't even respond to me.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean the bed was comfortable. The staff was very helpful in recommending places to eat while in Alexandra. A very good experience.

In the 20 years that I have been a priority club member this hotel ranks as one of the top three hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping is friendly and goes out of their way to make you fell welcome and at home. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area looking for a comfortable place to stay either overnight or long term.
