We stayed in this hotel at the beginning of July 2014 and the staff were exceptional. When the travel cot provided would not go together properly, a new one was provided within minutes.
The hotel was only a 10 minute walk to the town centre and although it's on a busy road, our room was quiet.
Breakfast was average, but free!
The downside was that our 'Family Room' only had a shower, which proved rather tricky with a 20 week old baby!
A microwave was also available to use, so although we could heat purées for our son, there was no fridge in our room to keep them cool before hand.

Stay at holiday IHG hotels on business and although only an Express this is a good hotel.
Close to bath centre, a comfortable hotel with good air conditioning something you don't always get with so called boutique hotels in the area
bedroom was in excellent conditions although still cant get head around the soap/body wash dispensers.(have been spoilt by the toiletries available at crown plaza)
Although familiar with the area staff were good with plenty of useful information on things to do and places to eat.
Bar was what you would expect and there was plenty of room in the lounge area to relax
Breakfast basic but adequate
All in all a very good base to explore Bath

Driving around Bath it was clearly a very compact town. Reaching the Holiday Inn was a real relief. Should have driven directly to the hotel when getting to Bath and then walked to town (10 minutes). Close access to a great grocery store.

My husband and I spent less than 24 hours here but were happy with the service, room, and amenities. I been a holiday inn express member for years and am always impressed with their hotels and accommodations.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by EmCat Nice hotel, poor breakfast
Well situated within 10 minutes walk of Bath city centre. Clean and modern hotel with enough parking - charged at £10 per night.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Room was very hot as air conditioning did not work properly, but staff did best to sort out. It then worked periodically.
Breakfast is extremely poor - so much so that we abandoned it and went elsewhere. Out of a non fussy family of 5, there was nothing to tempt us.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TakenNickname Great, as always
I stay here often and am never disappointed. Not the fanciest property I've ever visited, but it gets the job done. The rooms are clean and mostly quiet. As always, the staff is what makes this property worthwhile. They are helpful and friendly.
The only minor gripe is the new wifi system which makes me re-login every 24 hours (on three devices!) which is a pain. There should be a way for a multi-night visitor to have access for the duration of their stay.

The hotel was easy to find. parking was easy but did get busy during the week. Hotel was very clean and staff were superb. Breakfast was adequate and there was a good choice of food and drink items. We were very pleased with the choice of hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Liverbus good location
The hotel was well situated for visiting the city of bBath but although the details of the hotel said it was only 10 mins walk away you would have to walk quickly to do it in that time. However there was a frequent bus service that took us right into the city centre. The overal exprience at the hotel was good and we would stay there again.

Great location for Bath centre. A warm welcome by the staff although our A/C in the room did not work on a very hot evening.
Fruit selection for breakfast not as good as other hotels I have stayed in.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AR EM Great base for exploring Bath
Just a short walk from the centre of Bath with a nice Indian restaurant across the road.
The wifi was fiddly to use and we gave up in the end, but maybe that was just as well - what's the point of 'getting away from it all' only to do the same things we do at home?

We booked four rooms. Three of them were not serviced overnight. So don't stay here if you want your beds made or new toilet paper or room cleaned. Some towels were left outside the door.
Poor apologies and wrote to owner of franchise. Excuse was that manager was on holiday. Promised to come back with report, but nothing ever happened. End of story. Beware.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 'Toon Girl Excellent choice of hotel in Bath
Excellent service and a pretty decent room. Had a double with a fold out couch for our teenaged son. Room was very spacious when we would fold it up when it wasn't in use. Staff were very friendly and helpful. After speaking to relatives staying at another chain hotel in Bath, we were very pleased with our decision to stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Reasonably priced with free Wifi and not TOO high a price for parking (better than other hotels in the area). I'd stay again.

The hotel was what I expect from a Holiday Inn Express, Good rooms, close to centre of town. Parking easy which was important in Bath.
Only downside was the shower - the head was difficult to keep in the correct position.

Had a verry pleasant stay here - staff were excellent, hotel is a 10min walk from town and reception will tell you the shortest route. No problems experienced - all good here. Average rating for value as room cost is expensive, but certainly fairly priced for the area. We were certainly made to feel at home.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Qwassy Has what you expect of an Express but is higher quality than many
We stayed at this hotel in a pair of rooms booked for our family to attend our daughters final year university exhibition.
We found the rooms to be of decent size and quality although the outlook from our room was not great. We overlooked the bins, albeit we were on the third floor. I suppose someone has to get these rooms sometimes! Apart from that, the room was very comfortable – especially the bed. This was what was important for our overnight stay.
We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. One called technical services for me when I had an issue getting my phone connected to the wifi. I learned something – the solution was to turn off my mobile data service until I had connected. Unfortunately, the internet service was slow. Also, we could not pick this up in our bedroom. This was my only issue with the entire stay.
We had a few drinks in the bar with friends when we came back from our exhibition. There was not food available in the hotel but they were happy for us to order in some pizza which kept us going into the early hours.
We found breakfast to be plentiful with items being refreshed as they ran out. No bacon though, only sausage. Also, only scrambled eggs. There was also cereals and the usual continental options. We found no issues getting seated, even though this is a large hotel and it was full at the time we stayed.
This is probably one of the more expensive HI Express hotels. However, the quality of service and its location in Bath go a long way in justifying this.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by tim619 Conveniently Located
The Holiday Inn Express is conveniently located only a five minute walk from Bath city center and is near major shopping areas. The staff are able to arrange for taxis which is helpful if you need to go somewhere beyond walking distance. Overall the hotel is a great deal if visiting Bath for business or leisure and the hot breakfast is a bonus. If you've never traveled to the UK you may be surprised at first how small the room is and the lack of space for unpacking but will quickly discover that nothing is lacking in comfort. Without a doubt one of the best features of the hotel was the staff. They are professional and ready to help with all aspects of your stay. I recommend this hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Googy Cold Water
My shower was cold in the morning, no one at reception answered the phone for 15 minutes, and when they did it sounded as if it were a common occurrence.
The lady said they would go to the loft to sort it. I waited and waited, then tried the water and it was ok. Very frustrated (and now getting late for an appointment) that they didn't phone to let me know the water was now hot?
Asked for parking to be refunded and was given 10% off the bill also, which I wouldn't have requested had they let me know the water was back on!!!!

Hotel located just outside main city centre but within walking distance of theatre/cinema, spa, shops, etc and other attractions. Bus from opposite hotel also goes part way. The room was fairly standard but had a good shower and everything we needed for a short break, especially comfortable beds. Good overall standard of cleanliness. Perfectly adequate and acceptable breakfast. Reception staff courteous and helpful.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mumto5 Needs to follow Portsmouth's example--get a "Sophie!"
We were spoiled after staying in the Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth, so know that I am comparing this hotel to that one. HI express Bath needs a lesson from HIexpress Portsmouth! It's not that they were that bad.....just that Portsmouth is SO MUCH BETTER! The rooms here are tiny. We had a double with a pull out couch and when the pull out was opened there was no room to get to the other side of that bed or use the desk that was at the foot of the bed. This hotel was able to give us the adjoining rooms that we requested online (the only HI that did). But again, the rooms were so small that when you opened the adjoining doors you had to enter the next room, close the doors behind you to get into the next room. You couldn't leave the doors open and have one big room. There was no where for the doors. The hotel seemed busy and crowded and so did the front desk staff. The breakfast was crowded and did not offer as much variety as Portsmouth. The drink machines did not offer the variety that Portsmouth did, and they didn't seem to work properly. After a long day on the road we went to get drinks from the machines and the front desk scolded my kids (18,16,12) who were getting their travel weary dad a warm tea after a long day. I apologized to the front desk person, explaining that at the last HI in Portsmouth it was customary, the kids just assumed it was ok here too. He was nice enough about it, but I have to say it made me feel uncomfortable and unrelaxed during my stay---not welcomed, like the staff was just waiting for my kids to do something wrong. The hotel is not within walking distance of Bath attractions, like the park or Austen Museum. (Well, if you don't mind walking several miles it could be.) I think this sums it up best: we stayed at 4 different UK Holiday Inn Express hotels and this one (Bath) has the shortest customer service survey...(Portsmouth has a very long one!) And it shows!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Slinger16 Ideal for a short stay
This is a busy hotel within easy walking distance of Bath city centre. It's clean and bright, still relatively new and everything worked fine. On a main road, traffic noise may be an issue if you have your window open but the air conditioning works well if you wish to use that option. If you arrive late in the afternoon or evening you may have difficulty finding a parking space but once you've parked up there's no need to move if all you want to do is explore the city. Breakfast is basic, as you would expect in a HI Express, but it's perfectly adequate and there are lots of places to snack and eat out in Bath if you need to top up later. The dining area can get busy so get up early if you prefer a quite time at breakfast. I've stayed here on business and for pleasure and will stay here again if I'm in the area.

Perfectly fine for a day stop off at Bath for a our family of four. We left the car in the car park ( £10 charge for a day) while we looked round the city, then checked in at the earliest time we could which is 4. Location a little noisy when in the room; you could hear the main road. But having said that, we slept really well, and you do expect this as it's in a good spot for visiting the city by foot. Room was clean, beds comfy, no noise from the other rooms, and the breakfast was nice. We needed a shop in the evening and were pleased to find that there is a huge Sainsburys over the road too, (not to be mistaken for the Sainsburys petrol sation/express shop).
