Stayed here for one night whilst going to an event at the Barclaycard Arena. It's within a reasonable walking distance to the arena, shops, Brindley Place, Bullring etc but tucked away enough not to be noisy. We had a a room on the 6th floor and didn't have any problems with noise, despite the room overlooking a busy road.
The breakfast wasn't great; dried up scrambled eggs and sausages but it was perfectly edible and better than going out looking for something elsewhere after a late night the night before.
The room and public areas were smart, clean and modern. I would definitely stay here again for visiting the city centre.

Had a one night stay for business travel, staff were welcoming. The room was on the 12th floor so very quiet with a nice view over the city. Had food after arrival which was served promptly and was good value for money. Great night's sleep.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GJS13 Very soft bed, very poor breakfast
Bed was very soft. A little too soft for me, but that's compared to what I'm accustomed to at home, but I slept reasonably well. TV controls particularly non-intuitive. Took me ages to figure out how to do something simple like change the TV channel.
Breakfast was especially poor. The cooked choices were only: Overcooked scrambled eggs that were almost grey in colour, beans, sausages. That was it. No other choices of eggs such as fried etc, no bacon, no hash-browns, no tomatoes - either tinned or fresh - let-alone "exotic" items such as mushrooms, black-pudding or fried-bread? Normally I look forward to a hotel breakfast. Not here unfortunately.
Room itself was clean, simple, with a reasonably quiet AC unit, for which I was very thankful - some hotels have AC units that sound like they have a jet engine in them. Good central location with an NCP next-door, you get a 50% discount by getting your NCP ticket validated by hotel reception.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SW1958 Few issues with this visit, but we'll still go back
Our first stay at the Holiday Inn Express, BIrmingham was really good and we couldn't fault it.
However, on this occasion, the sofa bed hadn't been made up for our son. I called reception, who offered another room, as we were tried from travelling, we accepted it and moved our things. Once in the room, we realised that the beds weren't very big. The receptionist realised this issue and she called us from reception. As we didn't want to move again, we told her we'd be fine with the room with two small beds in.
We had booked two nights, and thought we'd get clean sheets the next day. This was not the case. The same sheets were put back on, and the blue coloured accessories that are placed on the bed, were still on the floor where we left them.
I didn't report this to reception, as upon checking out I wasn't even asked about the stay (which is unusual).
Not our best visit, and as we're already booked in for next weekend for two nights, we will honour the stay...but after that...not so sure.

Stayed here a couple times recently - really easy to access from M6 / A38(M) and parking right next door in secure NCP - pricey car parking though.
