Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location for exploring Bristol City Centre Stayed here for several theatre visits - Bristol Old Vic and Hippodrome. Basic it may be compared to the Holiday Inn Bristol City Centre but the Express is great for the price and location. Directly opposite the Bristol Temple Mead's railway station or with the reserved parking available behind the hotel; watch out for the sharp left turn to get behind the hotel, it's ideal for exploring in and around the city centre as your less than 10 minutes walk. Only additional advice is if you want a quiet room is to ask for one at the back of the hotel. 26 May 2014

The staff are very friendly and helpful. My only downside is the hotel is on a very busy road, so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back.....or wear ear plugs! 24 May 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and helpful staff Everything was fine the room was slightly dusty in the corners but otherwise a good standard. I left my case and went off to work in the morning coming back in the early afternoon and was able to work in the lobby area with access to tea and coffee and one plug that the electricity worked from a number of others appeared to have no power. The desk light in my room did not work and my IHG points do not appear to have been added to my account. 23 May 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by breakfast I,m writing this on behalf of my elderly friend Mr Wood who says he had a very poor breakfast at your hotel which consisted of scrambled egg. He was not able to purchase any lunch or evening meal. Neither was he able to buy sandwiches. As he was traveling alone, he arrived back in Grimsby in a very confused state due to lack of nutrition. Your hotel is obviously not suited to elderly people traveling alone and you should clarify details of breakfast etc. before taking a booking. 11 May 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient Hotel Conveniently located for Temple Meads railway station. Waterside bars and restaurants 15-20 min walking distance, and Knights Templar Weatherspoon's reassurance only 5 min away. Unfortunately many reception staff don't appear to be local, and so can't give advice to guests about where yo go and what to do. Breakfast selection is limited but okay when the hotel is busy, But o. Days that the hotel is quiet the food isn't replaced often enough and can be dry. Be warned if you arrive by car that the hotel only has 20 parking spaces, and even if you've paid, if you leave and come back your space may be lost. 09 May 2014

Then mission with all your baggage through, what feels like 1000 doors only to get to your very tired room. Avoid this hotel ! 05 May 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy and run down Having stayed here on several occasions this was a disapointment. Being on the first floor as a Gold Rewards member the traffic noise was disturbing. The general hotel has a run down, worn out feel. My room the flush handle was hanging off the wall, the paintwork was sad and in need of some TLC. Carpets have taken a pounding in recent months and it shows. The staff are very good, the food is as normal, the bed was comfortable and clean. Gave me free parking because of my comments so well done to the staff. Time to invest mr HIE!! 30 April 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 An average stay Having stayed in the Holiday Inn in the centre of Bristol last time, this was a poor equivalent, for similar money. The room I had was adequate, basic but clean and OK. The staff were not particularly welcoming, and the parking was quite stressful to be honest ! There was a lot of noise over night, which sometimes is unavoidable, but the next door banged around for hours at night, the coat hangers hitting the wall by the door and the TV blaring out. Unfortunately, the breakfast was also poor, toaster wasn't working, food not bought out on time, or was cold, and had to wait around for ages for hot food to come. I'm a very huge & loyal advocate of Holiday Inn's, but I'm afraid this isn't on my list to return to. 22 April 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good choice very convenient for airport bus and for train stattion. lots of good things to say about staff and welcome, including finding me a room that was quiet - well it was until 5am when the bin men arrived :( Breakfast staff were helpful - but why no bacon? Wifi was good - but why is the password printed with very small print, with S that looks like 5, and l that looks like I and O that could be 0? Bit of a cultural desert, with very odd pub next door. But all in all, I'd stay there again. 07 April 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dont stay if you got an early start booked this hotel four months in advance, as was required on a Saturday night and had an early flight on the sunday morning. went to check in around 3pm ish, and was completely ignored by the four staff behind reception. after stood there for what seemed like an age (probably 5 mins) was told that it was shift change over so to be patient and we would be seen to shortly, not exactly the greeting I expected. check in was fine, and no payment required, as the money had been taken in the November when I booked it. we were on the 4th floor, so went up to the room, but both key cards would not work, went back down to be given 2 more, but when I went back up they did not work either, so went back down, and yes you can guess given 2 more. went back up, and yes you can guess they did not work either. a bit fed up by this point, on my final visit I was rather unhappy to say the least. this time a receptionist came with me, and lo and behold the door was broken, so then back down to reception to be moved to the 5th floor and this time got in no problem. yeeeeeee flipping haaaaaa. the receptionist did give us a free drink token, but all in all to get into the room 1st go would of been much better. anyway went out for a meal, and an early night, as had to be up at 3am. imagine our surprise at 1.30am when we were awoken by loud noises from the corridor. ie; sounded like a disco with loads of squeeling women. opened the door to find around 15 young girls all along the corridor singing drinking and eating kebabs, not happy, and I told them. they actually apologised, so I went back to bed, but the girls had other ideas, some must of been staying in the room next to us and proceeded to bang on the walls shout scream etc etc etc. we were showered dressed and in reception for 02.45 . nobody seemed bothered. a full refund was given, but that was beside the point. all we wanted was a good nights sleep which we did not get. if you are going to take group bookings, then I suggest you put them all together. my 3rd and last stay im afraid 01 April 2014

The hotel is clean, with modern furnishings and very helpful and pleasant knowledgeable. The breakfast is of good quality and the coffee machine was excellent with a great selection of various brews. 21 March 2014

I then visited the bar, the staff saw me there, but it was at this moment that , they needed to do something other than serve me. without making eye contact they walked away and started washing glasses. Eventually I got served. As for the quality of the shower in my 6th floor room, well the water flow was appalling . 19 March 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good simple hotel experience ruined by idiotic parking I would like to say I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Bristol City centre however a clean friendly hotel experience was ruined by the pathetic parking. My stay involved a late night out with some friends when we got there found that the allocated 20 spaces were full so if have to park in the conjoined multistorey however then found out that I could only pay until 9am the next day so if have to get up early the next day just to renew my parking this ruined my stay here simply due to the nature of my visit 27 February 2014

Breakfast included & a reasonable choice including hot dishes. Car park next to hotel and not expensive either. All in all, an excellent choice! 27 February 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express - Temple Meads Avoid this Hotel. The rooms are OK but (it is the same in all three rooms I have tried now): - The Internet simply doesn't work - it drops in and out. - The air conditioning units makes odd noises (gurgling) through the night. - The drains smell - a really unpleasant smell comes out once the shower is running. - The water pressure is really poor. - I have found the staff unwilling to read out (over the phone) the internet code - so they expect you to go back down to reception to pick up a piece of paper with it written on. 10 February 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean comfortable bed and room We have just spent a very enjoyable hen party weekend. Beds were comfortable. Could have done with a little larger quilt. There was a smell of drains but overall the cleanliness was excellent. Nice touch with free beverages at all times in reception. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We did have trouble finding the car park but having found it, it was a tiny access next to the hotel. Handy for Waterfront and city centre. Lovely not having to rush for breakfast after late nights. 7am - 11am. Also late check out was a bonus. 06 February 2014

Was late for breakfast but staff still got me food from the kitchen and also got to check in an hour later. Tad bit on the expensive side but highly recommended for the personalised service and great staff. 04 February 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent, comfortable stay The room was excellent (clean and well fitted) as was the buffet breakfast with a good selection of hot and cold food. All the staff we met were welcoming and helpful, clearly working hard to make the stay a good one. The other guests we met were also friendly suggesting satisfaction with their stay. We were offered a selection of rooms, chosing one at the rear to avoid the potentially noicey road at the front and slept well. The only negative is the lack of free parking but we knew that before booking. However, that available was conveniently close. Overall, an good experience at a good price. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor room quality I stayed at this hotel as my partner and I were visiting the Bristol and Bath Christmas markets. This hotel is ideal for its location next to the train station but I was extremely disappointed with the hotel rooms. How many years have these hotels been non smoking yet our room was like someone had been smoking 40 cigarettes a day in it. Yellow stains of tar and windows that whistled with drafts. Not a good experience. 02 January 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Christmas at Holiday Inn Express, Bristol From the moment I entered the Bristol Holiday Inn Express on the evening of 23 December 2013, after a 5 hour train journey, I was welcomed by smiling, courteous, friendly, extremely professional staff. I was guided to my impeccably clean and well appointed room by a very cheery member of staff, who carried my luggage, explained the intricacies of the room 'key' and assured me that if there was anything I needed, I only had to ask. A few hours later, after having enjoyed a snooze on my very comfortable bed, the telephone in my room rang and on answering I was greeted by a very friendly staff manager who advised that he had someone at the desk who claimed to be my son! 'Twas my son indeed who now lives in Bristol and was the reason for the journey for Christmas. We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at Bristol Holiday Inn Express and I look forward to staying there again the next time that I am down Bristle way! Thank you to all of the Staff - you are the best.
