Enjoyed our stay in Cardiff. The Holiday Inn Express was in a great location with friendly staff, and was good value for money.

Had a good stay in a hotel that was located between the city centre and the mermaid quay. Was easy to get to both locations both on foot and by taxi. The hotel itself was good and the reception staff were attentive and helpful. Nice room with a view of the water.

Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Staff checked if i needed a local map/taxi service any information at all, i was made to feel that nothing was too much trouble :)
Room was clean and comfortable. Great location, with secure car park.
The only slight criticism would be that the only socket for my telephone to charge overnight was nowhere near the bed, which was really inconvenient!
Also, no muesli on offer at breakfast, but to be fair, i didn't ask so there may have been some somewhere, i just couldn't see it. My travelling companion had the cooked breakfast and said it was lovely!
I will definitely be staying there again!

I have stayed here now a few times and find it a great place to stay.
It my not be right in the centre of town but it is close enough for where most people want to get to easily without being noisy
The rooms are standard for Expresses, but the staff make the difference with their warmth and friendliness.
They were great on check in and helped on/off during the stay as well
Overall I would heartily recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Locknessie Great position for city
This hotel has plenty of car parking but there is a charge of £6 a day. We stayed for 2 nights and used our points to pay for one night, well worth joining the club.
The hotel is situated by an old dock which has swans and a variety of ducks on it, great for photographing and is within walking distance of the city.
The reception is well run with very helpful staff and nothing is too much trouble.
There is a lounge area with comfy settees and tables and chairs, next to this is the dining area, breakfast is served here buffet style, plenty of selection from cheese, croissants toast and hot food but no bacon. Both these areas look out over the water and there is access to the outside which has seating areas. Even though there is not a restaurant for the evening there is a snack menu available which has hot food and also there are a couple of menus which allow you to order food from outside and get it delivered which is a really good idea. There is also a pub which does a good range of food just a walk across the dock and reception will ring to check how busy it is for you before you go, which I thought was really helpful.
There is a lift as well as the stairs and three floors of rooms. Our room was clean and had a seating area plus hairdryer, shaving point and bottle opener in the bathroom which had a shower and also dispenser soap for washing and showering. There was a heater for the colder days and air con for the summer. There was a choice of pillows and the bed was very comfortable.
A short walk away there are buses running into town or it is not too far to walk.
We had an enjoyable time at this hotel and really enjoyed visiting some of the many things of interest on offer. Wetlands is ideal if you enjoy wild life with plenty of photograph opportunities, the Dr Who Experience, the World of Boats and the Nation Museum of Wales which is free. This is just a few places we visited but there is a lot to see and do with wonderful views around the bay plus plenty of shops.
We will certainly be going back to this hotel in the future.
