Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by You Got an ID? When I walked in to the Chattanooga Downtown HIE, my greeting was, "You Got an ID?" Usually people say, "Hello," or "Good Evening" - I can't say I prefer this new method. The check-in was probably the worst I've had at an IHG hotel, even down to grudging question of whether I wanted points or the welcome pack (I asked for points and never got them). Our room service woman was cut from the same cloth as the man who checked us in - every day she cleaned our room she was talking on her phone, and my wife came around the corner one day to have her holler, "You scared me!" Another day, my wife hid back and overheard her complaining about restocking our amenities (sorry, we like coffee). However, a pretty standard (and therefore comfortable) room, reasonable price, good location, and free parking make this an OK option for downtown Chattanooga. Plus, the staff aren't all bad - the breakfast lady was very nice, and one of the day staff ladies helped us get a free pass to the local YMCA. 11 January 2015

The staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining options. Excellent bars and restaurants nearby the hotel also. 09 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff, clean and an excellent location. This is our second year staying at the Chattanooga Holiday Inn Express. We like the hotel for several reasons. The young lady behind the desk upon our check in, (sorry I did not get her name) put you into an excellent mood by her smiling and uplifting personality. VERY friendly young lady. She was the best we ran into during our three traveling nights in your hotels. We also appreciate the near downtown location. I feel good driving past your entrance into the parking and notice a secured fenced in parking lot! It also helps that you are SO conveniently located and a very easy drive to downtown. We have to visit Sugars (BBQ) with each visit to Chattanooga. At this hotel, we can always count on a comfortable bed, clean room, clean hotel and enjoy the free breakfast. This was another memorable stay in Chattanooga! 05 January 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beware the booking center I contacted this hotel directly and was routed to "reservations," which turned out to be an HIE central booking facility. Although polite, the woman I spoke with talked as if she was working at the very hotel I called. I was quoted one price for a two night stay and told, "yes, we have a shuttle." Although it was a bit difficult locating the hotel, it appeared welcoming. The young man at check in was very courteous and helpful. When he gave me a copy of my reservation, I noticed a $40 increase in price from my first night to my second and questioned it. The increase was customary but I had not been told this. It would be addressed with the manager the following morning. I then asked what time the shuttle left for the aquarium the next morning and he nicely replied, We don't have a shuttle, but you can catch a city shuttle about two long blocks down the hill." Although this hotel was very nice, and the staff I dealt with could not have been nicer, I cut my trip to Chattanooga short when I woke up the next morning to pouring rain and did not look forward to getting wet on my walk to a shuttle. It was no fault of this hotel but HIE needs to work with their booking centers to get thorough and accurate info to guests 03 January 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Chattanooga The hotel grounds and public rooms are well cared for and lovely to look at. The beds in our room were very hard and uncomfortable. The chair's seat was sprung so that when you sat in it you sunk nearly to the floor. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There was only one of two elevators working which made coming and going a bit of a challenge -- we had to wait for a free elevator quite often. I have never had to pay for parking at any other hotel so the additional parking fee was unexpected. 29 December 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible visit This was a terrible stay. Although the staff was nice, I did not feel safe at all. This hotel is not in a great part of town and they have no cameras in the parking lot. A few staff members were great and helpful, but I would not suggest staying here for safety reasons. 27 December 2014
