Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vintage atmosphere in a great location Hotel Cass has been renovated in wonderful vintage classic decor. Room size is abit tight (a smidge bigger than European hotel space), but that's the way it was back in the day, right? The location is perfect...a block away from Magnificant Mile. The staff was totally professional and complemented the curb appeal of fresh flowered window boxes outside; their greeting every time in and out had to make me smile. Only issue was that, despite offering complimentary breakfast, my morning departure times were earlier than the service both days and there was no work-around despite request the night before...with no frig in the room, it makes leaving at 6am for a10K race and the next day for the airplane quite inconvenient; some flexibility on that point would be nice. 17 August 2013

Nothing really, allthough the rooms were really small, they were comfortable, well eqiupped and very cosy. We would have liked a bigger bathroom - as that was a little claustrofobic. But overall a great experience. We will definately be back! 17 August 2013

We liked having an iron and blow dryer already in the room. The room was very clean. The breakfast was fast and delicious, which gave us a great start for our day of exploring Chicago. 15 August 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smallest Room Wanting to change an reservation, talking with the staff on the phone told that if I changed the reservation I would be charge and then told that he did not care if I was a platinum member and that means nothing one plug in for electronics behind the bed no chair for desk as there was no room to sit at the desk no vanity in bathroom the most disappointing IHG property I have ever stayed at with the rudest gentleman representing the property 14 August 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room 208-BAD The staff is wonderful and location are excellent. Room 208 is near the exercise room. When anyone goes to exercise, it's unbearable because the TV, treadmill, etc. can be heard easily and all are LOUD. Also, the view outside the window is of the roof of the lobby. The room is also so tiny that it's hard to move around. The breakfast is okay but if you are on a diet, they only offer mainly starches for breakfast. I've stayed here many times and knew what to expect, but I have never been on the second floor. I think I will explore other options in the future. 12 August 2013

From the moment we arrived, they were very PROFESSIONAL and accommodating (as we arrived early). They were also helpful with traveling/tourist questions. They always spoke upon departure and entry into the hotel. That type of service makes me want to consider returning to the hotel despite the small guestrooms. Breakfast was good, also. The staff was friendly and kept the dining area very clean and stocked during breakfast time. Wonderful experience. 11 August 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by In the Heart of the City We were in town for a family summer vacation. The property was conveniently located close to major landmarks and wide variety of restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful with directions, tours and suggestions on how to travel and where to visit. The breakfast was a bonus and had plenty of options. Being an older building the room was a little on the small side but overall our stay was extremely pleasant and a great value. 05 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME Staff and hotel! My family and I experienced Holiday inn XPress-Cass Hotel last week and hated to leave! The staff was incredible and greeted us with smiling faces each time they saw us. On our first night there, we were on the way out for some sightseeing, and right as we stepped off the elevator, a member of the staff immediately asked us (with a huge smile on his face of course!) where we needed directions to/where we needed to go, what we had in mind for dinner so that he could recommend nearby restaurants, etc., etc. The breakfast was WONDERFUL and totally exceeded our expectations. My 5 yr old daughter is a little picky with food so we brought her own special breakfast down, and one of the staff members (Margarita) graciously took my daughter's meal back to the kitchen to warm it up in the mircrowave. :) We felt so at home here and will definitely choose Hotel Cass during our next stay in Chicago! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No Cinnamon Buns!! The hotel is well located and easy walking distance to most attractions. Parking is just around the corner and an easy walk. Rooms are small by Holiday Inn Express standards and they are not as well equipped, no fridge or microwave. One bedside table and only enough to walk around the bed, queen size. Breakfast okay but NO cinnamon buns!!! Most disappointing. Reception offered to get them at check-out, so there must have been a slip up in the kitchen. Still no cinnamon buns, the main reason for using HIE 04 August 2013

Rooms are tiny and ours was located right next to the linen closet- which made for a very rude awakening with the houskeeping staff talking loudly and banging doors very early in the morning. The elevators can take upwards of ten minutes to arrive. I'm not sure it was worth the 30 dollar a night savings over other area hotels. 02 August 2013

BUT: 1) The room air systems; dirty filters (very), Only 1 of the units in the King Suite worked, Very noisy operation, and when the neighbor room had theirs on the vibration came though our wall. 2) Only two SMALL elevators for 16 floors. Early morning breakfast is NOT the time for the staff to be packing those elevators, which move VERY slowly to begin with, with their bags and carts...and then joking about how full they are, and needing to stop on every floor up and down. Need to really re-plan the entire service operations and timing. 31 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful weekend stay! We checked in on a Saturday and out on Tuesday morning and the entire stay was wonderful! Yes, the rooms are small, but we didn't spend much time in the room so it was perfectly fine. All we needed was a nice bed anyways. The rooms are updated and modern. The staff was excellent! From a quick check in, to helping us navigate to certain points of interest in town, and even having a cab waiting for us at 4:30am to take us to the airport, everyone was very helpful! It's a great location downtown as well! We walked everywhere, to Navy Pier, the subway stations, and plenty of restaurants, including awesome Chicago style pizza! I would recommend this hotel and definitely would stay here again. 31 July 2013

Although mainly being in town for work, I still wanted to be able to enjoy the city, and the location of this hotel made that very easy. Great location, with lots of great restaurants/stores within walking distance. As expected rooms were small, but they had everything I needed, and overall, were very comfortable. Breakfast was good in the morning, and the valet service was great. Definitely would stay here again. 31 July 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Small hotel big price in downtown Chicago Hotel loation is very good, it is clsoe to all attractions within reasonable walking distance but rooms are very small and price is very big. On top of that you have to pay $49 for the valet parking. Breakfast area is smaller as well and very crowded in the morning for breakfast. You would be luck if you get all the things you want to eat and a spot to sit. Value for the money you pay for room and parking doesn't worth it. I stayed here for business but will not stay if I am with my family (mainly becasue rooms are very small, you barely have sapce for walk). 30 July 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet Room and Awesome Locatoin We were there for a concert so we were out all night and slept all day, pretty much every day we were there. It was perfect, we left the sign on the door and weren't bothered at all. The staff at the desk were happy and willing to help with all of our requests. Cabs were readily available all the time. The rooms are small, but are clean and have everything you need. Hotels aren't prime locations to be entertaining anyhow, so it really is perfect for a weekend in the city because there are too many things to do, than sit in your room! Beds were heavenly. I really have nothing bad to say! :-) Very cute hotel. 28 July 2013
