Having just returned from holiday my wife and I wanted to relax before the long drive back to Devon, We decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Crawley as it was close to Gatwick Airport. We intended to stay for 2 nights with a visit to London by train on the day between, unfortunately bad weather and the cost of the train fare cancelled the visit. We decided to just relax at the hotel instead, we would advise anyone returning from holiday to take a night here and relax after the flight before driving home.

Holiday Inn Gatwick-Crawley was adequate for one night, but it would have been good to have been told of restaurants other than the Harvester next door, or given a map of where it is in relation the rest of the locality. Without a car (because I was travelling to Gatwick Airport by train) I felt isolated in a terribly impersonal environment with only a "Burger and Chips" culture around me. The self-service breakfast arrangements were grossly inferior to the hotel's competitors. No bacon presumably means cost-cutting I suppose it is OK is you want an absolutely "no frills" and utterly basic experience before a holiday, but I won't be back and will be happy to pay a bit more for a more comfortable and (in terms of diet) healthy experience.

I could feel the mattress springs while sleeping.
The breakfast needs a lot of improvement
