A holiday Inn isn't going to be extremely luxury but then it's not trying to be. This hotel was exactly what it said it was; very comfortable, clean, tidy and provided everything we needed at good value for money.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. The only concern we have is the breakfast area. Because the tables are so close together we had o walk quite a bit to access the food area

Breakfast could have been a lot better. There is no bacon on offer and scrambled eggs were rubbery.

Booking a night away in Edinburgh can be the most expensive thing you ever do so when the Holiday Inn came up I could not believe how reasonable the price was. Location was superb and ample free parking was another bonus for Edinburgh.
Hotel was clean, comfortable and very welcoming and there was a buzz of people around without it feeling overcrowded.
Really good - will be back to escape the kids again!!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dolly86 Comfortable and pleasant stay
We only stayed one night as the purpose of our visit was to see the Royal yacht for which the hotel is very conveniently situated plus a visit to Edinburgh and again the hotel is approx. 20 minutes by bus from the centre of Edinburgh. The bus service is very frequent and stops outside the hotel. Our room was clean and there is a good selection for breakfast which is serve yourself buffet style.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anne59 Good location, Modern facilities, Good Service
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Leith on many occasions.
It is in an excellent location just opposite the Ocean Edge Shopping Centre and near to Leith attractions. There is also ample car parking. The building is modern and fresh- looking. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and there is good choice of food at breakfast.
Roooms are kept beautifully clean and all staff are friendly and helpful

Overall good, little niggles, toasters take to long , 3 out of 4 mornings some one had pinched our toast, been to other hotels in chain where the toaster is the type where bread keeps moving ,might be an idea.and sofa bed was not big enough for older kids. But overall nice visit and the the staff were brilliant.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bazzab Excellent Location and Great Staff
Location was superb. Close to the docks with easy access to shopping and food outlets. Transport into the city takes about 20 mins by bus which were plentiful as the hotel resides at a bus termination point with most if not all the buses going through the city. Hotel was surprisingly pleasing and of a much better standard than most Express sites I have stayed at. Overall the stay was very pleasant and I would stay there again. My only one observation (which is liveable to be honest) was the breakfast. This is not a negative against this particular hotel at all, but the Express chain in general. Cooked breakfast may be free, but is very limited and bland in flavour. As I said not ideal for me but very liveable.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gordon 123 Clean and comfortable
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised how spacious, clean and comfortable the bedroom was. Slept soundly!
Breakfast facilities we found were basic and it was a bit of a 'scrum' but in their defence the hotel was completely full. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely use this hotel again.

The helpfulness of the staff at the Holiday Inn Express - Waterfront in Edinburgh was one of the aspects that made my time in Edinburgh so enjoyable. The staff were so good when I checked in much earlier than expected. Staff explained how to accessing public transport which was great. They also made suggestions on a Day Tour to the Highlands which was a highlight of the trip.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Antonio2014 En las afueras pero bien comunicado

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Peter, Fort William Excellent location
The location of this hotel in Leith means that prices are reasonable while the city centre is easily accessed by the number 22 bus which runs approximately every ten minutes. Add to this the high standards of the hotel and you have an excellent combination.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DEDhostile Fabulous hotel!
As Priority club members we use a lot of different hotels in the IHG. The Express chain is simple and hotels vary alot around the country. We stayed here two nights recently and had a great time! This hotel is very convieniently situated, there is a very good shopping centre just over the road, plenty of restaurants and the new Royal yacht Britannia exhibition. If you want to go into the city use public transport as driving is horrendous!
We were welcomed as Priority club members and offered the choice of a free drink and snack at the bar or points. We opted for the drink. We were upgraded to a slightly larger room and had a reasonable view of the Scottish government buildings. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was busy, staff were hard pushed to keep up with demand, but did admirably. The breakfast selection was very good, plenty of choice including hot bacon, sausages, eggs, etc.
The staff on the front desk were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, this was in stark contrast to our previous nights stay at a Holiday Inn in Nottingham.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Thoughtful Runner Excellent Accommodations
The property is at a convenient location on the waterfront - adjacent to the Royal Yacht Brittania. Although it takes a few minutes to get into the city center, it is not bad and the price break for being a few minutes out of the city is well worth it. Room was comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfast was not quite as complete as one might expect at an HIE property in the US, but not bad. Staff was attentive and courteous. The only issues I had with the room were internet and electrical outlets. Internet was a bit erratic and not as fast as would be expected or desired - but it worked. There was a real shortage of electrical outlets available in the room - only one or two and it was inadequate to even get mobile phones charged overnight. Otherwise, a very good place to stay.

Very comfortable hotel and great location for exploring Leith and Edinburgh. Staff were very helpful with recommendations for eating places, lots of choice - found a great pub.which used only local produce - fantastic. Free parking (a bonus these days) and express check out. Visited Britannia which was amazing. Only had one night here but this would also be a great base for visiting Edinburgh city centre.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scotscalder All that I ask is for you to give us a few choices of whisky all else good
We stay here often and like it very much, great for parking and good bus service close by, good staff
The one downside with all Holiday Inn Express's that we have stayed in recently is no choice of blended whisky available in the bars, only one blend Bells which is absalutly dreadfull whisky, what a let down for all your travellers from all over the world, good job there is other bars nearby that stock good whisky blends like grouse, whyte and Mackay and loads of others. You do have a few Malt Whisky but that is not what I drink. I do hope you can change this and have some good whisky for sale on our next stay and improve your otherwise good image

The main room was very clean. The hotel has great parking and main transport links run outside the hotel into the center. The breakfast provide was very enjoyable with lots of options to choose from. I would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Edinburgh, especially those travelling by car.
