Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could be better Checking in at 4pm, I did not expect to be told that my room was not ready, and that I would have to wait ten minutes before it was available (this period actually extended to more than twenty minutes). Shortly after gaining access, I was forced to vacate again as a result of a fire alarm going off. During this event there were no staff on hand to offer guidance or advice; or to let guests know when they could return to their rooms. 01 June 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not a good place to stay poor quality mattress gaves us both bad backs hence not much sleep, had room with connecting door to next room which was very unnerving for my wife, room was set for 24 degrees on radiator had to leave window open most of night to cool room down which does not help with road noise. breakfast room was cramped not ideally suited to such numbers. would not recommend staying again rooms starting to look very tired. 24 May 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay Had a good stay, staff were friendly on arrival and check out. Mattress was really soft so didn't sleep very well (rm 315). Like the choice of pillow but could do with 2 of each in the room. Did report it to reception on check out and they said someone would look at the mattress. We have stayed in other holiday inn express hotels and the mattress were firm abit disappointed when it wasn't the same. There was alway a lot of running water noise within the walls which was very disturbing. Did ask if mattress toppers were available but was advised there is no choice on mattress. 04 May 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average/Poor staff performance and cleanliness Some how the staff dint clean my room for 2 days. Very bad for IHG hotel performance. Dint like it. I called the reception for asking the staff to clean the room. No one from reception bothered to look at it. Went to the cleaning staff for cleaning the room he dint bother to clean it. The amount I paid for staying dint worth the stay I believe I would not prefer IHG again Premier inn or any cheap BB is better than this 24 April 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Edinburgh City Centre Very friendly welcome by reception on check in. Hotel clean and perfect location. Room was adequate in size for a short stay. Beds were fairly uncomfortable and our room (323) had lots of traffic noise too. Staff gave great recommendations even eating at the nearby Italian which was gorgeous and our children loved. Would definitely return for the location but request a quiet room away from the roadside! 18 April 2014

There is a impolite and rude man who just open my door without knocking the door or pressing the bell. I felt very angry. When I check out, I told the reception what happened. They just say they will check, not even mentioned about further reparation. I feel they r such irresponsible!!! I think someone needs to give me a reasonable explanation! 12 April 2014

The staff are really helpful, the hotel is immaculate and the rooms are of a very high standard. Have stayed in other hotels in edinburgh and paid a lot more money for a room that don't compare. Excellent location with Omni centre just across the road. Highly recommend and will definetely stay here again 12 April 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly Surprised I was looking for a nice hotel to take my mother for a 75th Birthday weekend with show. I spent ages looking at different hotels but in the end decided on this one as it is literally across the road from the Playhouse. From the moment we arrived the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was fine, spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs. Breakfast was an added bonus . Our room was at the back and really fairly quiet for a city centre hotel. I will definitely return. It is in a great position both for the theatre and for shopping. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. 08 April 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff - really accommodating especially Sangeeta We stayed for 3 nights in a family room with a 7 and 5 year old. Room was a bit small when sofa bed was out and the room we had was quite warm with no air con adjustment but we just opened the window. Overall very comfortable and close to everything. Family day pass on bus only £7.50 which was really useful as you can hop on and off as you need to. Breakfast was good and would definatly come back. Very good value for money. 06 April 2014

Car park was a bonus and location was ideal. Didn't use the bar so can't comment in that but would certainly stay again when in Edinburgh. 03 April 2014

Our room was on the ground floor at the main road side and we found it too noisy . Would use the hotel again but in a different room 31 March 2014

Spent approx 30 minutes on 2 devices and couldn't even access my email. Shame as the rest of the stay was perfect. 30 March 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Iron in rooms Only problem I see was we had to take all the Clothes up to the next floor to the iron room This was a very annoying thing as we would Have liked to do this in our room rather than Have to go to another floor 2 do this so please Please scrap this and install irons in the rooms Charging a few pounds more would still be Good I would pay extra for iron in rooms I never scored on breakfast as i never had it cost of Room a bit expensive would stay another time 27 March 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Basic and typically cold The rooms are basic yet functional, The free wifi is poor and the paid option is not much better, forget trying to download a programme for BBC I player and at a cost of £5 per 1 hour it's disgusting. I've never had a room in approximately 12 weeks of staying with you on a weekly basis for 1-3 nights where there was a problem. Broken tv, heaters not working/hanging off the walls, etc. The rooms are all very cold even with the heating on full and I always hate rooms on the 6th floor as I have to get dressed for bed. 23 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Spring visit My welcome was friendly however it went downhill from then on. .With regard to the room it was standard for the brand however there was a floorboard missing under the carpet at the toilet/shower entrance that can cause you to stumble. The TV reception was abysmal, kept dropping channels and saying weak signal. Breakfast room difficult to negotiate due to the tables being too close together. The serving area is a disaster. What are the two red ropes for other than to make a small area smaller. No milk available for cereals, had difficulty in finding a staff member to replenish. Bar OK but staff need to smile and engage with customers rather than talking to each other. 16 March 2014
