Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Experience. Booked in again to the HI Express. It was a bit pricier this year but overall its a good place to stay. Breakfast is good, rooms are comfortable but best of all is staff service. The staff were always friendly, smiling and will always try to look after their customers. We were very impressed with the staff. Comfortable bar and lounge area. Well done Folks. 09 July 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing After we booked out rooms, 4 weeks in advance and requested our room and friends rooms to be near and they said that wouldnt be a problem. On arrival 2 rooms were on the first floor and the other two were on the 3rd their reason was issues with other rooms.. considering the hotel is pretty big and wed booked well in advance 4 rooms near each other shouldn't be a issue. so that was pretty disappointing. Also i wouldn't even bother with the breakfast, really poor quality and hardly any choice, beans, rubber sausages, hard powder scrabbled eggs which are your only hot options, the toast was pot luck whether it burnt or hardly toasted. then 2/3 choices of cereals, apples and cheese slices. We also wasn't told the breakfast time changes on week days so we went down to breakfast at half 9 like the morning before and every thing had been packed up as it finished at half 9 instead of 11. Lastly the drains were absolutely foul and every time you ran the water, flushed the toilet or had a shower the smell of waste or sewerage stunk the whole room out. Wouldn't return here. 07 July 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value and a warm welcome. The check in process was efficient and friendly so we felt welcome from the start. Room basic but clean and comfortable. I'd asked for a quiet room and the hotel had taken this seriously and considered where best to put us. Breakfast was perfectly adequate and the dining room clean and spacious. We were allowed to leave our car in the car park for the day, after check out, which we really appreciated. Free Wi Fi too. Well done Holiday Inn Express! 28 June 2013

The rooms were large and clean with a good size bathroom and a great complimentary breakfast. Yes the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the city but then you are not disturbed by noise. The parking is secure and within the grounds and is a small fee. The breakfast was lovely with a choice of 5 cereals, croissants, muffins, toast, jams, fresh fruit, yogurts, fruit juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. The hot selection was more limited but adequate - scrambled egg or Frankfurt sausages and beans - but no bacon. (hence the 4* rating) Hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. 08 June 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Very friendy welcome We have used this hotel twice recently and each time have been more than satisfied. The car parking is a reaonable price and we were able to walk into the city centre easily. The room was spacious and comfortable with a good en suite. Rooms are very quiet so ensure a peaceful night. The breakfast was freshly cooked and there was plenty of choice. 25 May 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff We stayed at the hotel last weekend for about the sixth time in the last 8 months. As usual the hotel was very clean, quiet and the staff were very helpfull and curteous. Even though the hotel was full on Saturday night there was no noise and plenty of breakfast. We can recommend his hotel to anyone but especialy to those visiting students in the nearby residences 26 April 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great B&B stay This hotel was very comfortable and friendly. I felt that nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent with a very large bed. It was quiet at night and we slept well. The breakfast was really good with everything you could want. Cereals, fruit juice, fruit and hot food and it was all really fresh and free!! We are both retired people and would definitely stay again and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, including disabled or people with children all of which were staying there at the same time as us 22 April 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean Rooms and Great Service The hotel was not as close to restaurants or the city center as I had hoped but the staff was great, friendly and did all they could do make the stay pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel offers a limited menu for diner and the items they had are very good and served in the dining area. Breakfast was great. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone going to Leeds. 11 April 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Awful smell from the bathroom I stayed recently on the 4th floor here and reported that there was a strange, drains-like, smell in the bathroom. A chap came up to clean the bathroom again pretending that he had a cold and couldn't smell anything. The clean made absolutely no difference & there I was stuck with this smell overnight as the hotel was full. The business model for HIE seems to be based around cutting staff numbers so tight that no one was even available to bring an iron & ironing board up the next morning to the room. I shan't be returning 19 March 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Could not fault this hotel We stayed here as a group using 4 hotel rooms and it was a really good experience the car park was available - the service at the reception was fantastic both helpful and human ! We were told about the facilities and anything else we needed ! So we all went up to the 5th floor rooms were very clean and well presented and we asked for rooms next to each other which the hotel made happen, rooms were well heated or air conditioned and the power shower was well appreciated ! The bar service was also good and again great service ! Breakfast was good and good choice - just maybe more coffee machines but layout and service again very good, great set up and would we would stay here again as we travel 4 times year - great set up and the service was 10 out of 10 !! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Modern hotel, nice rooms However, I found the room to be by cold, and the heating was not working great, though in fairness I think it's this new type of air conditioned heating that most hotels are using, I much prefer the electric radiators, they actually heat the room up, I would stay again but I think I will take my wooly socks and pyjamas 16 January 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by tired and needs better food Good staff keep this place going. The rooms are basic; OK but no where near as good as Premier Inn. You have to request an electriic heater as the upper rooms can be cold and the air con heating is too noisy to leave on - keeps you awake and it's not very effective. No heating or heated towel rail in the bathroom so towels are damp from last night.. Main entrance needs auto doors - can be hard to get through two sets of swing doors when carrying luggage. Souless bar and lounge area. Evening meals basic but OK if you want a quick bite but eat out if you want something decent. Breakfasts are grim. Awful "scrambled egg" [yellow/grey mud] sausages tastless, cheap sliced bread. Croisants stale and dry. Coffee from a machine is bitter and just about drinkable. Best to get breakfast elsewhere. 09 January 2013
