We were disappointed with the breakfast but it was included without extra charge. The rest of the hotel was as expected

On arrival greeted with a pleasant smile by reception staff, full of information about the hotel and surrounding area. The room and bathroom were very clean, beds comfortable, hospitality tray well stocked

This was my first visit to this hotel and was booked through a company account. The welcome at the front desk was outstanding - a very personable, warmly welcoming member of staff made me feel at home straightaway.
As a Platinum Rewards Club member I was kindly offered a complimentary drink at the bar. I accepted this and had a glass of red wine. I was working late and the bar was very cosy and so I decided to order a second glass. When I returned to the bar the member of staff refused to sell me just a glass, telling me they only had full size bottles of red wine. I said they had poured my first, free, glass from a full size bottle. They told me that had finished a bottle off and they wouldn't open another bottle 'just for a glass.' This was really disappointing. Whether a lack of initiative or exceptionally strict bar rules meant a hotel from a chain I have been loyal to for 12 years wouldn't sell me a glass of wine, only a full bottle. They only stocked one type of red wine and their menu stated a per-glass price but the member of staff refused to do anything. There is a bar next door that I went to instead and spent a nice being being looked after by kind and attentive staff. Very disappointing for IHG.
