Would return here no problem. Had all we needed for attending a family wedding in Lichfield with reception in Weeford so very convenient for both. Great having Frankie & Benny's and McDonald's close at hand. There is also a Virgin sports centre across the road which you can purchase a day pass for. The hairdresser is really good too. Hotel apparently due for an upgrade soon but really fine as it is.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DL1982 A nice hotel by the main road
We came for Bloodstock Open Air festival which took place at Catton Park. The room was clean and quiet. We did not suffer any noise from the highway or plumbing or other guests. Everything looked new and comfortable. We had a nice TV and a kettle. For us it seemed like a pretty big room and the shower was also OK. The breakfast is not really big but it's fine. You can have a croissant, bread and beans, sausage or scrambled eggs. There's also cereal and yogurt. We are vegetarians and it could be nice if there was also some cheese, but we managed fine without it. There was no reasonable public transport so to get to the festival we had to take a cab each day. The hotel's restaurant is great, the prices are reasonable and you have a selection of beers. The staff was pretty friendly.

Great hotel as usual, however the breakfast on the Thursday morning was a complete let down, as there were no beans or eggs "due to delivery issues". so only cereals & rolls available.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wheeler1969 Excellent value and service
We were checked in quickly and efficiently, staff were friendly and were keen to help. The room was large and comfortable, with the sofa bed already made up for the kids. My only gripe would be about the breakfast, the only hot item was sausage, eggs and beans had not been delivered that day according to the note that had been put up ( would it really have been too much for one of the staff to have nipped to a supermarket? )

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dobri staff excellent, room good, food?
The staff were very good and the room was comfortable but as it was a disabled room we found it rather odd there was a communicating door to a family room so the first evening we had a very noisy child next door, also on the first night we decided to eat in the hotel big mistake it was appalling. even Macdonalds would have been better

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by abbie28 Why offer hot breakfast
Nice hotel for one or two nights. Staff very helpful. Sofa beds could do with upgrade though ours was in three sections each having an uncomfortable ridge. Also, why offer cooked breakfast when only sausage and beans available (poor sausages at that). Surely it would be better to offer a more comprehensive continental breakfast.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Marcopolo1701 Ideal base for exploring the midlands
The no smoking twin room was comfortable, clean and served its purpose. We were pleased Frankie & Benny's was next door as the place is in the middle of no where. It was ideal for our weekend visiting places of interest in the midlands. Breakfast was adequate. We would stay again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ancestry27 Clean comfortable inexpensive hotel
The hotel was conveniently placed and easy to find. The room was clean and comfortable and worth the money we paid for it. The second night we only had one set of towels and didn't notice until the morning so we decided to share. Breakfast was ok but not so good if you have anyone in your family/party who needs a gluten free meal. I was told at reception that they don't do gluten free food so I got my own bread and the first morning had a scrambled egg sandwich but the second morning they 'ran out' of eggs so I just had my own bread with some butter and jam. Plenty of fruit juice and tea or coffee which was good. We went to the Vintage Inn for dinner (about 5 miles away) as they have a full gluten free menu. It would cost nothing for the Holiday Inn to switch to gluten free beans and sausages. Management just need summon up the will power to look into this. For the money we paid, the overall experience, was good and we would certainly book the same hotel again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Gumbo123 family room with 4 year old
stayed for two nights so we could go to Thomas land and were quite happy. The pull out bed was already made when we arrived and the shower was really powerful and the room was very clean. Breakfast wasn't much kop. the bread for toast was thin and tasteless and the cereal was awful. Thank god for McDonald's next door...

The hotel is leanly staffed and the breakfast was probably the poorest of any IHG hotels I have stayed in (corporate customer). Great location.

We arrived before check in as we were attending a wedding in the local area. We were given a room to change and leave our bags in. Checked in and then the hotel arranged a taxi for us.
The rooms are large and well thought out providing all the home comforts you require for a night away. Good breakfast. Very helpful friendly staff. A very relaxing stay.

Found out that I should have booked the Stafford venue instead of Lichfield. When I asked to transfer - couldn't transfer me as I had paid in advance - not even within their own chain!!!!! Will be avoiding this chain in the future - taking my business - which is extensive - elsewhere.

The room with a sofa added to the comfort of our three night stay. Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was good in comfortable surroundings but choice of fruit would have been an improvement for us. Great stay, we will return as we visit family in Birmingham often.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Whitevanman Rowdy late night guests
I have stayed here 3 times, there wont be a 4 th , each time it just gets worse, last time I got woken up by late night revilers in next room 106 I was in 104
Kicking doors in corridor and have a whale of a sing song at 2 am on a Sunday morning is not my idea of a well managed hotel, despite contacting reception, the noise continued for at least another hour, I didn't see one sign in reception area asking late night guests to be courteous, obviously money talks in this hotel, and genuine customers do not matter, 10 days after contacting hotel , I have still not received any replies to email or phone, I paid cash, a mistake, I stayed at over 10 holiday inn hotels in last month, surely I deserve better than to be fobbed off.
This is not good enough customer relations.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by sandeil Always have a good experience
This must be our 6/7th stay always at the same time.
This is near the venue that we attend.
We wish we had seen that we could have had our evening meal in the hotel but only found the menu after we had a poor experience at "Farnkie & Bennie's" Being creatures of habit after we had settled in we just went over but were disappointed in the lenghth of time we had to wait after we had ordered. We know what we will do next year.
The Reception staff in particular have made very welcome every stay but have not seen the two gentlemen who have always recognised us on arrival.
Will be back next June

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ian1000 Did not action my Special Request
Every time I book a room at this Hotel I enter in the Special Request part of the booking that, if possible, I would like a room on the ground floor near reception. Sometimes this happens, but more often than not, it doesn't. Last week I was in room 234.
This room couldn't really be farer away from reception. Apart from this the Hotel is great, the staff are really friendly & efficient.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by dlpksjjsl New Hotel but tired staff
A good quality newer hotel. The room was clean and comfortable as was the hotel overall. The breakfast was OK nothing special. The staff were uninterested and bored. Our check-in was very poor, the receptionist made no effort to make us welcome, a smile would have been nice. At breakfast there were three members of staff who stood and chatted the entire time we were in the restaurant. They did not engage with the guests and looked scruffy. The staff overall appeared depressed and unmotivated.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CatYemenii Furious - beware extra charges!
Staying at Lichfield Holiday Inn for a wedding, I was very pleased at the cheap price and convenient location. Our stay actually wasn't bad (though bear in mind we were hardly in the hotel). However, 3 weeks before the stay I phoned to enquire whether there would be a room to leave our bags as we needed to drop them off before check in time. A lovely girl on the phone said it would be fine and made a note on our booking. We arrived on the day to be told our room was actually ready and we could check in. Great!
Imagine my surprise however, to find out the next day that we were to be charged £15 for the luxury of checking in, despite NOT asking for early check in and NOT being informed of this charge on the phone OR at the time of checking in. When I questioned it, the girl on reception was incredibly rude about it and said I'd be contacted by the manager. I haven't been contacted by the manager, instead found a charge of £15 on my credit card 5 days later. I am appalled at this. I stay in hundreds of hotels for work and have never been charged for early check in if the room has actually been ready - and the ironic thing was we didn't need a room in the first place, just a place to leave bags. This ruined a lovely weekend at an otherwise satisfactory hotel, and I will be taking this up with the manager.
