Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, poor breakfast Clean comfortable room, we have stayed there before but first time in a room facing the restaurant/gym across the car park, the reception said that we were on the quiet side, I now know that he must have been joking, you could not leave the window open due to the loud music from the restaurant until the early hours. This was a busy weekend and we were in a large group, there was not enough staff to deal with the bar and reception. The staff who were there were friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was dreadful, the full English breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausages and beans, the scrambled eggs tasted as if they came from a packet, I resorted to toast and marmalade, if the breakfast was optional I would have chosen to skip it, save the costs and eat at the restaurant or MacDonalds next door. 09 October 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by In transit Great location for trip between Cornwall and Scotland. 2 minutes drive to M6 Toll. Room comfortable, quiet and clean. Staff helpful. The only downside was arriving for breakfast at 9 o'clock a full 30 minutes before the end of serving and having to ask for bowls, mugs and spoons. There were no croissants and pain au chocolat left. There was no obvious member of staff supervising breakfast. 06 October 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by COMFORTABLE STAY WARM WELCOME AND EXCELLENT ROOM. CATERING SIDE OF THE SERVICE CERTAINLY REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT. BREAKFAST CHOICE IS POOR BY COMPARISON TO CONTINENTAL STANDARDS. STAFFING LEVEL NEEDS TO BE INCREASED. ON MY FIRST MORNING THERE WAS NO BREAD FOR TOAST AND NO STAFF PRESENCE IN THE 20 MINUTES THAT I WAS THERE. ALSO THE TROLLY IN WHICH TO PLACE USED TRAYS WAS FULL SO NO WHERE TO CLEAR FURTHER TRAYS FROM. IN THE EVENING ONE YOUNG LADY WAS DEALING WITH RECEPTION, BAR AND DINING ORDERS WHCH DESPITE HER TRYING TO COPE MEANT WAITING FOR SERVICE. THIS AREA CERTAINLY IS NOT THE USUAL STANDARD FOR HOLIDAY INNS THAT I USE REGULARLY. 27 September 2013

The rooms are the best rooms I have ever seen in a hotel in terms of style and facilities. Breakfast is included, which is a rarity in hotels these days. The room and beds were very comfortable, the shower great, our only gripe was that the phone wasn't working and despite reporting that, it was not working when we returned that evening. Great having Frankie & Benny's and McDonald's close at hand. There is also a Virgin sports centre across the road which you can purchase a day pass for. The hairdresser is really good too. Hotel apparently due for an upgrade soon but really fine as it is. 15 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A nice hotel by the main road We came for Bloodstock Open Air festival which took place at Catton Park. The room was clean and quiet. We did not suffer any noise from the highway or plumbing or other guests. Everything looked new and comfortable. We had a nice TV and a kettle. For us it seemed like a pretty big room and the shower was also OK. The breakfast is not really big but it's fine. You can have a croissant, bread and beans, sausage or scrambled eggs. There's also cereal and yogurt. We are vegetarians and it could be nice if there was also some cheese, but we managed fine without it. There was no reasonable public transport so to get to the festival we had to take a cab each day. The hotel's restaurant is great, the prices are reasonable and you have a selection of beers. The staff was pretty friendly. 07 September 2013

The room was large and comfortable, with the sofa bed already made up for the kids. My only gripe would be about the breakfast, the only hot item was sausage, eggs and beans had not been delivered that day according to the note that had been put up ( would it really have been too much for one of the staff to have nipped to a supermarket? ) 26 August 2013

Sofa beds could do with upgrade though ours was in three sections each having an uncomfortable ridge. Also, why offer cooked breakfast when only sausage and beans available (poor sausages at that). We were pleased Frankie & Benny's was next door as the place is in the middle of no where. It was ideal for our weekend visiting places of interest in the midlands. Breakfast was adequate. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean comfortable inexpensive hotel The hotel was conveniently placed and easy to find. The room was clean and comfortable and worth the money we paid for it. The second night we only had one set of towels and didn't notice until the morning so we decided to share. Breakfast was ok but not so good if you have anyone in your family/party who needs a gluten free meal. I was told at reception that they don't do gluten free food so I got my own bread and the first morning had a scrambled egg sandwich but the second morning they 'ran out' of eggs so I just had my own bread with some butter and jam. Plenty of fruit juice and tea or coffee which was good. We went to the Vintage Inn for dinner (about 5 miles away) as they have a full gluten free menu. It would cost nothing for the Holiday Inn to switch to gluten free beans and sausages. Management just need summon up the will power to look into this. For the money we paid, the overall experience, was good and we would certainly book the same hotel again. 21 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by family room with 4 year old stayed for two nights so we could go to Thomas land and were quite happy. The pull out bed was already made when we arrived and the shower was really powerful and the room was very clean. Breakfast wasn't much kop. the bread for toast was thin and tasteless and the cereal was awful. Thank god for McDonald's next door... 20 August 2013

Checked in and then the hotel arranged a taxi for us. The rooms are large and well thought out providing all the home comforts you require for a night away. Good breakfast. When I asked to transfer - couldn't transfer me as I had paid in advance - not even within their own chain!!!!! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rowdy late night guests I have stayed here 3 times, there wont be a 4 th , each time it just gets worse, last time I got woken up by late night revilers in next room 106 I was in 104 Kicking doors in corridor and have a whale of a sing song at 2 am on a Sunday morning is not my idea of a well managed hotel, despite contacting reception, the noise continued for at least another hour, I didn't see one sign in reception area asking late night guests to be courteous, obviously money talks in this hotel, and genuine customers do not matter, 10 days after contacting hotel , I have still not received any replies to email or phone, I paid cash, a mistake, I stayed at over 10 holiday inn hotels in last month, surely I deserve better than to be fobbed off. This is not good enough customer relations. 26 July 2013
