This is my first time to stay in an IHG hotel in UK and I was really disappointed when comparing with my previous stays in other IHG hotels worldwide. This hotel does not provide any basic sanitary items in the toilets. They would be provided upon request. I don't know whether it is a normal practice in UK since I have never experienced this in Holiday Inn Express in other countries. I called the front desk requesting slippers and cottonbuds and the staff replied me that this hotel did not have such items. (Actually these items are provided in HIE guest rooms in other countries.) Maybe it's a common practice for the hotel guests in UK bringing their own slippers when travelling, I don't know. I could say the pillows provided were of extremely poor quality and far below IHG standard. The hard 04 March 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Liverpool Short Break Picked this hotel for its location and we were not disappointed. Came by train via Lime Street, walked to the hotel, no problem. Character of building has been retained making an interesting stay. Limited cooked choice at breakfast, but acceptable as included. Had to call reception one day as we had not been left any towels in our room. Waited an hour and had to call again. They then responded immediately. Great place to stay for all the sites, would go again. 03 March 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall experience Ideally situated this hotel ticks all the boxes. Except that is for the unimaginative breakfast. I hate those toasters!! Room overlooked the dock and provided a beautiful view over Liverpool. Very clean and comfortable. Bathroom clean with good shower. Bed comfortable and had a good nights sleep. 01 March 2015

Bed a standard double with uncomfortable mattress. No use for 2 large people. Breakfast ok but little variety. Location superb - why we chose this hotel. 27 February 2015

The rooms were clean spacious and comfortable although there was some noise in the corridor outside as others guests walked by and in the room above - this would NOT deter me from staying again. The breakfast is more than adequate - we had read poor reviews but in truth there was a reasonable choice of cereal, juice, yoghurts pastries, muffins, croissants, toast, sausage, egg and beans. There was a variety of teas and coffee. You would have to be really fussy not to find something you'd like. 25 February 2015

The staff offered great care and support , breakfast was everything you would hope for/need and the room was clean and welcoming with a wonderful view across the Albert Dock and Liverpool Waterfront. Overall, this hotel is superb value for money and a place we love to stay at. 25 February 2015
