Very sorry this hotel is not worth the money, rooms are tired, furniture looked old.It look like they had put new carpet but left old furniture. Room felt cold even though the radiator was on high. It was very cold out, but still. Could here a lot of corridor noise, doors slamming, heard the man next door blow his nose in night. The breakfast was cleared all away by 9.30, I thought it was supposed to be served till 9.30, by the time my toast came through, the woman clearing the breakfast room, took the butter away,in front of me, knowingly as if she was annoyed at me, this was before 9.30. Cleaning staff couldn't wait to get in my room, before check out knocking door. One thing that saved this hotel is that the reception staff were completely , professional, friendly and lovely, on check in and check out but still would not stay again as other hotels in area, only slightly more expensive but a lot better!

I have stayed in at least 30 Holiday inn Expresses in UK and around the world and many other IHG hotels. This was the worst.
One coffee mug in room should be 2. No milk on coffee tray. Bin not emptied from previous occupants. Kettle 'on switch' had to be held down to work.
Major problem: I was woken at 2330 by a family trying my door! When I found out what had happened I was shocked. They had been assigned my room and used in previous night but while they were out for the day, the hotel staff moved their belongings to another room! And did not tell them. They had small and upset kids. As I was talking to those folk through the door, the front desk called me to ask if their luggage was in my room. Obviously if it had been I would have reported that on arrival.
By the way, most staff have poor use of English!!
Terrible, it gives Holiday Inn Expresses a bad name and degrades IHG.
I gave my list of housekeeping issues in at check out and got a mealy-mouthed worthless apology. Not even an offer of compensation.
I want to get a response from a senior manager at IHG about this and to know what corrective actions are in place to stop this bad performance.
