Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel in fabulous location This hotel is conveniently situated right in the heart of Southwark, very close to Southbank, 5 mins from Blackfriars Bridge and all modes of transport. The staff are helpful, professional and smart. It's clean and practical and a very peaceful place to stay. I found it a little expensive this year and wondered if they increased their prices to coincide with the jazz festival, as prices now have dropped. I've been before and hope to visit again next year. There were one or two small issues about my room, but overall, I can recommend this efficient hotel. November 22, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor mattress and unhappy reception staff. The bed mattress was terrible, and we had 2 terrible nights sleep. When we checked in was told, oh your room has been changed, but this one is much better. For check out I tried to extend by just 30 minutes, but was told by a very miserable receptionist, no this is not possible because other people are checking out late. Additionally, on the second day the breakfast area was extremely busy, so much that we had to wait 10 minutes for a table. The staff in the kitchen and dining facilities were really rushed off their feet and were doing everything to help all, so I applaud their efforts. I have stayed in many HIE hotels previously and enjoyed my stay, but the poor bed and unhappy staff on reception has changed my mind. November 19, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great nights sleep Rooms were very clean and soundproofed. Unfortunately our stay was let down by the poor breakfast. Food ran out and it took a long time for the staff to replenish it. Not a great choice either. November 18, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2 nights in London Booked this hotel as I am a member of the IHG club so got a good deal per night on the rooms and new breakfast was included. Wasn't disappointed with the hotel - booked 2 rooms and both were lovely, clean with great bathrooms - power shower great! We had both rooms facing the road on the 1st floor, the windows didn't open but we managed the heat with the aircon - even in November the rooms were warm. Didn't hear any noise from outside or the road on any of the nights. A few good places to eat within walking distance, we ate at an Italian place first night, food was great and very reasonable. 2nd night was at Nando's, again great food and very cheap bill for 5 people - Very close to Southwark Tube station and a decent pub nearby for a quick drink. only a 10 min walk to the river at Blackfriers bridge so close to southbank, globe theatre etc. There is also a Co-op, M&S, Sainsbury Local & Tesco express only a 5 min walk to stock up on water etc. Breakfast at the hotel was busy each morning - we were down around 9ish...but the hot food offered ( Beans, sausage & scrambled egg) was lovely along with the usual toast, cereals etc. Just enough to keep you going till lunchtime. Tables were cleard quickly though. There is a small bar to have a few drinks at night - costs on a par with anywhere else. Cannot fault checkin or the hotel reception staff, all were very polite and chatty and happy to help. Checking In was very easy and we were in our room in 5 minutes. Didn't have our room made up on the Saturday but that was our choice as we were in the room giving the legs/feet a rest when the maid knocked on the door so we said not to bother...All in All we enjoyed a great 2 nights at this hotel and will look forward to returning next year. Have kept our Oyster Cards for a return visit. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay and warm welcome. November 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Staff All hotels will thrive to improve on the quality of their rooms and other service. But will always stand out will be the quality of customer service. Having friendly staff with the right facial expression will really make a customer stay enjoyable. This was the case with Holiday Inn Southwark, London. A staff was helpful with the right expression, but few had this stone like facial expression on them. An area to improve I guess. November 15, 2015
