Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disaster There are only one or two things that were good about the hotel. 1) The closeness to the city centre. 2) Closeness to my sister's apartment. 3) Closeness to the bus station. 4) The shower was very spacious and powerful. Very relaxing. However, there are many cons to do with the hotel and our room. 1) The placement of the kettle was both very awkward and a serious health hazard. 2) We have trouble with our room keys various times during our stay having to get them re-done at least twice a day. We were told to keep them away from mobiles which we did and the problem still kept occuring. 3) There was a very poor selection of hot foot for breakfast and most mornings it was undercooked. 4) The room was not worth the amount of money paid. The sofa bed was terribly uncomfortable causing myself a horrible nights sleep. 18 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by V ery relaxing atmosphere at hotel and really good service I would recommend the hoiliday inn express arena hotel to to everyone that goes for an outing to manchester. The atmosphere was really good for my family. We loved the room it was really spacious and provided all the necessary requirement. The staff were also really friendly would definitely pay another visit if I come to manchester to stay. 16 June 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very handy for the Arena. My daughter and I stayed here on 7th June 2013 as a birthday treat for her , to see Eddie Izzard at the Arena [ who was amazing]. We couldn't find the hotel after walking all round, so got a taxi. Not their fault. There was construction work and it was hiding! Room was ok, neat and clean, although I would have liked to have a window that we could open. The shower was rubbish and the kettle set up was dreadful. You couldn't fill it properly as the tap was lower than the kettle. As the lead was so short, we had to nearly burn ourselves on the steam, because it was facing towards us. Breakfast was chaotic. A bad arrangement with people trying to get hot/cold drinks plus their hot breakfast , which was only scrambled eggs and skinny sausages, in a very small area. You then went out to get your toast . By the time you'd got that , your breakfast was cold! The reception staff were efficient and said that they are due for refurbishment soon, so hopefully these things will be addressed. It was very handy for the Arena and reasonably priced. 14 June 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean room excellent service we stayed here to go and see a concert at the MEN arena. Staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. Everything was within walking distance (cocktail bars, shops, food outlets and arena) . Breakfast was adequate with a decent variety of choices. room was clean and comfortable. Wouldnt stay any were else in manchester apart form here and we will be seeing you very soon. Thankyou for making our experiance very enjoyable and relaxing 10 June 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by May 2013 Clean and comfortable room. The staff were most obliging and friendly - even getting me extra fruit for my breakfast. An enjoyable stay. 05 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Bed and great service Overall experience very good. Location is excellent. Good value for money. 05 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Good Hotel Stopped at this hotel while working in Manchester. I stop in a lot of Holiday Inn hotels and this was a pretty good experience. Arrived late at the Hotel, but the staff couldn't be more helpful. Room was spotless and the bed was a double as opposed to two singles pushed together. The only thing I would say is that the hotel could have benefitted from a car park at the hotel. Overall a really good hotel and reasonably priced. 03 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Fresh Hotel with excellent service The hotel was very clean and fresh but it was the staff who made it for me - nothing seem to be too much trouble for them and everytime you saw the staff they were smiling and friendly. The rooms were nice and clean - not amazing for the price but we were there at a weekend where there was a lot going on in Manchester and hence the prices were higher. 02 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Magic Weekend We booked two rooms for the Rugby League Magic Weekend. The hotel was extremely clean and we found the beds very comfortable. Good size shower and never heard any noise during the night. The free breakfast was limited but the sausages were actually nice for a hotel. We intend to book again for next year. The hotel is also very well located for a good curry house, couple of nice pubs and also the tram station to the Etihad stadium. 01 June 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brief Business Visit Hotel is basic but very new and clean. Value wise excellent! For a short business trip it's perfect. Located close to town and inclusive of breakfast. Does what it says on the tin 28 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean modern with central location We have no negatives to say about this hotel, Great value for money, clean modern rooms in brand new hotel, with brilliant location. Parking no issues and only £4 for 24 hours in nearby car park. Would highly recommend. Worth the slight cost difference to those nasty travel lodges without a doubt. Cheers 28 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room and spacious shower. Very good hotel overall. This was our second stay and definitely will be back. Clean and spacious room and shower. Helpful staff. Very good location, close to transport, shops and restaurants. 12 May 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location The room was clean & the bathroom had a great big shower. The only downside is they do include a English breakfast. The surrounding buildings to the hotel are being developed so it was a bit like a building site during out visit as you enter the hotel from the main road. 11 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay in Manchester I was in Manchester for a meeting at the BBC's site at MediaCityUK in Salford. I wanted a city centre hotel with good value and complimentary breakfast. The Holiday Inn Express M.E.N. Arena provided all of these - along with pleasant staff and a nice, modern building. It's just a short walk from the Metrolink tram stop at Shudehill - so it's very easy to get to from Manchester's Piccadilly station. 09 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value Brilliant location We stayed here for the convenience and found it surprisingly quiet, comfortable and great value. Breakfast was good although self service and furnished in a cafeteria style. Would definitely stay here again. 02 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean & comfortable Hotel is perfect for staying when going to M.E.N. Arena, its just 5 - 10 minute walk away. 02 May 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Comfortable rooms The hotel was in easy walking distance of Piccadilly Station. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was good but the area was a little confined. Everything except toast was in a small gulley way and with lots of people not knowing what they wanted there was a lot of going backwards and forwards. There was plenty of choice though. Staff were very friendly and we were able to drop our bags off early in the day before checking in to save carrying them around 26 April 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stayed here for one night while attending a concert at the MEN Arena. Room was great, staff were pleasant and helpful, food and drink was great and above all was reasonably priced. Location is perfect for shopping and for the MEN Arena, 5 minutes walk away. Would definately stay here again! 23 April 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel Stayed here overnight as we went to the MEN Arena, excellent location for this and for everything Manchester as to offer. Friendly staff, great room and value for money a definite must if travelling to Manchester. Will be back for sure. 22 April 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceeded expectations We booked this hotel as we were going to a gig at the arena. It was a bargain price so we weren't expecting too much. The staff were friendly and welcoming when we checked in, it was quite busy but we were dealt with very quickly.. The room was spacious, nice decor and spotlessly clean. Lovely bathroom with huge powerful shower. Everything we needed, desk, mirror, hairdryer, hanging space, TV, plenty of electric sockets. We had a drink in the bar before heading out, fast and friendly service. We had a great nights sleep, the beds were so comfortable it was an effort to get up. Breakfast was complementary so again, we didn't expect much...wrong again! Good selection of cereals, hot drinks and juices, cooked choices were sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and beans. Also a selection of continental pastries. You couldn't expect more for a freebie! (although some were moaning about the lack of bacon...humbugs). We would definitely book here again if we're in Manchester and will recommend to friends and family. Didn't seem like a budget option at all. 21 April 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel! First time here and my room was massive. Spotlessly clean and bed was so comfy. Really quiet area considering where you actually are. Also parking was fine, there's a Total right opposite the Crowne Plaza. Downside was that as a priority member I wasn't informed I could've had a late checkout :( Would've saved me lots of rushing around in the morning. 21 April 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Perfect for city break Stayed for event in the Arena - Perfect location - 5 min walk from Printworks, which has any kind of food/drink you could want, then another couple of minutes from the Arena. Would def stay again. 20 April 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff Stopped there for the Pink Concert at the MEN on the 14/04/13. Perfect location. The room was lovely and clean the staff were all very friendly especially young Chris who showed us to the car park in his own time :) Will be going back there when we are 'gigging' again or even when my girlfriend wants to go for a day shopping in Manchester 20 April 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just about OK for one night Having asked for a quiet room, we were given room 611 on the 6th floor, only to discover that room 613 next door was the meeting point/ pre-loading venue for a group of young people staying at the hotel. Having wanted an early night we were kept awake until after 11 pm by a succession of people knocking on the door of 613, but fortunately the noise then ceased. In the morning we noticed that the shower drain was partially blocked, so that the water in the shower tray was soon several cm deep when we used it. At breakfast one of the juice machines was not working and looked dirty, and one of the tea/coffee machines did not work. There was then a partial power failure so that none of the machines or toasters were working, although the staff soon fixed the problem. Had to stay in Manchester to get an early morning train the next day, and chose this hotel after good experiences at HEXs in Newcastle and London, but this one fell some way short of their standards. 20 April 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Manchester City Centre-MEN A relaxing and enjoyable stay with the only real negative being the lack of obvious parking facilities. The hotel and rooms were tidy and I recommend the venue 20 April 2013
