Heating in the bedroom didn't work, and we were cold for most of the time we were in the room (unless under the covers in bed!!). In general, our stay was good and fair value for money. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by well maintained modern spacious room in a safe convenient location - the room/ bathroom is spacious and well maintained - staff are very friendly and helpful - comfortable mattress. - location is good, safe area with Sainsbury next door, a few minutes walk to china town/gay village, 15 minutes walk to the train station-not many restaurants around though. however... - the water pressure in the shower is very very low - the pillows are "worn out", it hurts the neck - breakfast selection is very limited, however the bread is very fresh and delicious. - the small bin in the bathroom is a pain to open, it actually end up broken after our 2 night stay. - the room is too dark, for romance yes its good, but too dark for anything else. maybe adding a lamp can help. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend stay at Holiday Inn Oxford road Manchester Upon arrival the reception staff were helpful and friendly and I was able to find my room fine. The room itself was ok for a two night stay and the hotel did not have a restaurant. But this didn't matter as I just needed a bed. The bed was clean and tidy so was the room. However the carpet was stained with what looked like orange blotches of pop. The wall had a long gash/ scrape out of it and the tiles on the floor of the bathroom were dirty. (I didn't use the shower). I was in room 117 next to it is a little locked door which I assumed was a cleaning closet but I think now housed the boiler. randomly through out the night there would be a loud clang as the something turned on. then at 4am on the sunday the pipes must have been cold and a lound screeching and thudding noise rang out for 30 minutes until whoever turned their tap off. Also outside the window is a crossroads and traffic lights this is constantly busy. through out the night you will hear the rumbling of car engines stationed at traffic lights then the rev of engines as they set off. I will not be staying in this hotel again as I was so tired after two nights of interrupted sleep. April 6, 2016
