Good choice of nearby restaurants and handy for the autoroute.

The reception staff were quite horrid to us.
I asked for a change of room as the steel soap dispenser in the shower was broken and lying on the shower base - and we overlooked a huge concrete roof - perhaps the worse room?
It was not full but they grudgingly, reluctantly changed us to another room - but one said to the other that our room was 'free'.(actually paid for with IHG points) warning her not to give us a better room. Clearly reluctant, as one said she would come and repair the problem - doubtful - with the risk of it falling off again with a potential injury!
I find this demeaning and disrepectful and now wonder if I want to bother with points or the Holiday Inn in the future. We had considered staying and paying for an extra day or so, (as we have done in the past), but decided otherwise as we felt so uncomfortable in this hotel. We moved to a nice hotel, ina superb location at Cap d'Agde where the staff appreciate guests. Sadly customer service is not always good in France - and not at the HI Montpellier.
People collecting points should know how they are viewed by reception staff ... it was embarrassing for us - they spoke in French of couse, but I speak and undertand French having done it at university and having taught French -We have a second home in France and do understand French. They assumed we would not know what they were saying!
Clearly we were 'inferior' guests.
VERY annoying and spoilt a very special birthday for me!!!!!
