When there was a water leak and we had no water staff gave us bottled water so that we could still wash up. 28 January 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 The worst staff in IHG I have never seen the smile from all staffs in this hotel, excluding the two girls during my check in time. I asked for a scissor from the front desk on the evening of 22nd Jan, but the lady refused it with her porker face and claimed that it's about safety. Interestingly, when I asked her what if I bought one outside of hotel, she said it was not her business. So the so called "safety" is not about guests' safety, but the lady's career safety. Got it! I have tried lots of IHG hotels in the world, this holiday inn express must have the worst and rudest staffs. 27 January 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A reliably nice hotel. The Holiday Inn Express is great for people like me, who are less impressed with the bells and whistles on fancier (and pricier) NYC hotels and more interested in the simpler things in life, like a clean bed and free breakfast. The HIE totally delivered in these matters. The only downside I can think of is that the light in our room was a bit dark---there's no overhead lighting. Of course, there are plenty of other lights to use! It wasn't a big deal at all. 26 January 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location & Comfortable Bed The pros: Location - near important landmarks. Good local eateries around the corner. The bed was very comfortable and heating system worked well. The cons: sink drainage was broken (water clogged all times). The rooms were small and crowded, not the best layout and the breakfast variety is ok, but the same is served every morning. Finally, the staff met their job requirements but would not go the extra mile to provide outstanding service. During check in, employees tended to discuss their personal issues in front of guests and make facial remarks that appeared inappropriate. I would suggest that employees, especially front desk, engage visitors in friendly conversation, such as: "What brings you to NYC? Is this your first time? Would you like dining recommendations/ etc. One night I called the front asking to purchase water, I was referred to go to hotel next door. 22 January 2015
