Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Nice room, very convenient to airport, comfortable mattress I was overall very pleased with this hotel. The front man that managed the front desk was helpful, quick and concise. The room was large and well lit in the day, but had good black out curtains. The shuttle service was efficient and reliable. The only complaint I have was the that the carpeting in some of the lobby and in the elevator was very stained and looked dirty. A used Kleenex was observed on the floor of the elevator in the late evening and was still there in the morning. It would seem that the carpeting would be a very inexpensive replacement cost. The front desk manager could have picked up the used Kleenex. 19 December 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and up to date I had originally reserved a room at a different hotel. When I checked in the room was so outdated and smelled old. I immediately contacted Holiday Inn Express and they were able to accommodate me right away! I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and the customer service offered. The shuttle service was perfect for our needs and extremely close to the airport. 18 December 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Close to OAK and Nimitz Frwy The Pros: 1. Shuttle service is excellent. It runs from 4 AM to almost 1 AM (12:45 AM or something like that). I was stuck at OAK Car Rental after hours since flight didn't get in until after midnight. I called hotel and they sent the shuttle to pick me up at the car rental, then took me back next morning for me to pick up my rental car. 2. Limited under cover parking for small cars at north end of the hotel - helpful when it rains and when I was there the Bay Area got the rare monsoon rains. 3. Internet service is solid. I could definitely tell I was in the Silicon Valley area. 4. Hotel rooms themselves are nicely furnished. Could use another power outlet near the nightstand or a lamp with the power outlet in the base so one could plug in their phone charger on the nightstand 5. New BART line station is nearby if you wanted to venture into SF without fighting the Nimitz and Bay Bridge traffic 6. You can check out, and get to the airport terminal in 10 minutes, give yourself about 45 minutes if you're returning a rental car. The Cons: 1. Hotel common areas are showing their age. Carpets are worn down. 2. Location is high cost compared to most Holiday Inn Express location I've visited, probably attributed to the overall high cost of living in California. 3. It *IS* Oakland after all. I didn't feel unsafe at all at the hotel, but venturing out after dark is not recommended unless you're just grabbing a bite to eat along Hegenberger. Definitely keep all valuables out of your car. 15 December 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nightmare on Airport Drive Checked in, ordered in food from a local vendor, ate and went to sleep. Awakened by a room phone ringing and a male voice asking me who I was and how I got into the room, I think that is close to what was said as I was in a sleeping daze, I asked who it was and hung up. I was thinking this was a prank call. Went back to sleep only to have someone banging on my door, and I mean banging not knocking. I opened the door and a man was standing there asking me who I was and what my name was. I told him mine and asked him his then told him to leave me alone and go away. Next morning I asked the female at the desk about it and she laughed and said she had been reading the notes from the night before. She told me the person who checked me in had written down the wrong room number for me and thought my room was empty. Thus the experience above. No apology or explanation of any kind that night. A very bad experience that could have been somewhat better with an explanation or apology of some kind. 15 December 2014
