Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Low water pressure in shower 20% of the water did not go up to the shower head, but down the drain through the bathtub sprout.. Made our 3 days stay not as enjoyable. 2 of the pillows were so lumpy that I would have thrown them into garbage if I had them at home. This is the first Holiday Inn Express stay that my wife and I did not enjoy staying.. June 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet, efficient and comfortable Not a lot of great choices for hotels in Salinas so I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express when I'm in town on business. Great staff, always friendly and helpfull, rooms are always clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is pretty good as opposed to many other hotels. Overall you can't go wrong staying here. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Category too high for condition of hotel I am a platinum IHG member and have stayed at many of their properties. This one does not live up to the brand and certainly not the point category it is assigned to. I had booked 2 rooms a month in advanced and called twice to make sure they would be near one another or at least on same floor. When I arrived they were on opposite sides of the building on different floors. I was told they were sold out and has no rooms to switch even though a literal stack of prechecked in keys sat in the holder. I had also confirmed a crib when I reserved and that was "not ready". The first room they sent me too had the door partially open. When I went in the beds were stripped with sheets on floor and trays of dirty food sat on the counter. This was at 6pm. After a long wait...They reassigned my room to another room which was on the floor with our friends I had originally requested. When we entered the room we discovered that there was literally a concrete wall 2 feet from the only window in the room. I kid you not. A giant concrete wall! We tried to call the front desk to inquire about the wall but Te phone was so staticky not a word could be heard. My husband went downstairs. The woman at the front desk claimed that she had been there many years and had never had anyone express concern over the concrete wall. See photo. My husband was pretty annoyed at the wall view especially given we have been long term platinum guests. The hotel did refund partial points back to my account which I appreciated, but little did we know the wall was only the beginning. There were no rooms to switch to and we had three kids in tow between the two families so we went to dinner. We remindwd about the crib as we left and were assured it would be ready upon return. WE returned. No crib. We picked up the phone to call. Static. We went downstairs. Crib on its way? Took the kids to the pool which was indoors and lovely. Comeback. No crib. Husband went to inquire and was told they were out of cribs. Ugh. They did eventually find one and send it up. Tried to give my one year old a bath and the tub drain lock didn't work. My husband tried to fix it but the inner bar was broken and appeared to have been that way for some time from the condition of the piece. Tried to rinse out her cup in the bar area sink water barely dribbled out. The room itself was fine. It was supposedly a suite but was really just a basic king room with a couch but was fine. Would expect to pay $100 a night on average for the room. It was dated and a little worn but otherwise totally reasonable. The hotel lobby was nice with a little fireplace and a big TV. The staff was nice and tried to help. Upon checkout I politely and without commentary summarized the list of room repairs needed: tub, sink, phone. The woman noted them in a notebook and thanked me for letting her know. June 7, 2015
