Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Staff - Great Location What a fantastic staff at this hotel - everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. The large rooms were very clean, as was the entire property. Kudos to the management those things always come from the top down. One of our party is allergic to gluten, so when we asked one of the breakfast restaurant staff if they knew anything about the omelet being gluten free or not, they said they were not sure, but they would find out for us - in less than 5 minutes, one of the kitchen staff came out with a label from the omelet mixture bag, that had been cut out and cleaned before presenting it to us - wow - Now thats what I call over the top service. The location of the hotel couldn't be better - only 1/2 block to public transportation - and San Francisco offers an unlimited public transportation pass for only $7 a day! And that includes the cable cars, which charge $6 for a one way trip - so my advice is to buy the Muni Pass and stay at this Holiday Inn. BTW - its only 1 block to a well stocked Walgreens too. 05 February 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by San Francisco vacation We had a very nice room with a nice view of the city in the distance. It was convenient to do the things we wanted to do. Our room was always very clean each day. We picked this hotel because of the location and found it to be very accomodating. The people at the front desk were always willing to answer any questions that we had. They were extremely helpful. An especially nice extra was to have the complimentary breakfast. We could eat and then go do our sightseeing. The lobby and entryways to the rooms were always very clean. All in all we had a wonderful experience in San Francisco. 03 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent front staff When we checked in we needed to switch our room because we wanted to have a view from our window. I am not used to deal with those things since my husband usually takes care of them. Anyway, I wasn't sure if they would accept our request since there was nothing wrong with our room we just prefered to have a better view. When I called the front desk the staff was very kind and assured that she will find a room in the morning. And the next day the there was a different person at the desk but she knew about our request and helped us in the morning and we had a new room with a great view. Every time we asked little questions about the area or anything we needed, they were so helpful. EVERY STAFF was very friendly and helpful. I was very happy that my mom and I chose this hotel! I went down, and the desk attendant was apologetic and remedied the situation. The next room was not what we wanted, so I asked if we could try again. We did, and the solution worked well. The desk clerk was great in spite of the challenges. Breakfast was underwhelming, but overall it was a favorable experience. 26 January 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend getaway We live close by but when we want to escape from the everyday, SF is where we go. We have been doing these getaways at this hotel since right after 9/11 when hotels were reeling due to a drop in travel. We find this hotel by the Bay conveniently located for our long city walks as a base from which to operate. The staff is always extremely friendly to us and our small children and makes us immediately feel at home. The breakfast is more then adequate and the kitchen staff are amazing in the way they are able to keep the food stocked in what is usually a mad scramble to eat by almost everyone at once. I absolutely love how they have decorated the place and it has a very upscale feel w/o the price or an elitist feel which I detest. 26 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, no wireless in rooms We enjoyed a January 2013 stay at the Fisherman's Wharf HI Express. Excellent location right beside the Holiday Inn so careful to confirm which location. Room and service are as expected from the chain. Comfortable, quiet, clean, good breakfast options, efficient staff. Breakfast was very crowded so the room may not be quite big enough for this size property. There are two major negatives. Parking was $51 a night which makes it unaffordable for us to return there with a car. We also were shocked that even in 2013 they do not have wireless in the guest rooms! 24 January 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Overrated Slammed with extra parking fee. Poorly reconditioned rooms. Front desk slow to respond to people, busy chatting with others instead and everything seemed dirty. I have stayed in holiday inn's all over the USA and Canada but this one is without a doubt the worst. Sorry, but I am a platinum member with Priority Club and will not be staying at this particular hotel location ever again. 24 January 2013

The location was great, the rooms were very out dated for the hole refresh they did. Old tube TV's no wireless internet (only in lobby). it did for the one night stay. 21 January 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Our Initial stay. A rainy Saturday afternoon when we arrived at the hotel via Berkeley. Valet Parking only for 45USD for convenience, although a block away is a public parking. Due to the hotel's position there is no bay view. Front service hand me down some very essential maps. Room was presentable and very conducive to resting although the TV set needs upgrade. Restroom is clean although shower pressure can't be shared. Overall it is an excellent hotel due to service, location and the buffet breakfast. I won't get tired of this hotel. 21 January 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy bed, dirty room. Worst Holiday experience ever. Stayed to 2 nights Jan 1 and 2. Room was not clean and carpet was dirty. one of the queen beds makes squeaky noise and very uncomfortable. Very erratic climate control. No microwave or fridge. Average breakfast. Expensive valet parking. Only good thing was location. Overpriced. Will not stay here again. 10 January 2013

They wont even mention that and found the front desk staff bit rude. Had to wait 15 minutes to leave the luggage (no early check in) in the baggage store area. 07 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location We were able to stay in San Francisco for 4 days without using our car, this hotel is in a great location. Room was spacious and clean. The hotel is not new but it is in good conditions. My only reserve is for the elevator (only has 2), which on the busiest hours were very slow. Also, parking at the hotel is outrageous ($45 a night). I parked a block away from the hotel for half this price. 06 January 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer service, location and decor!! We loved our stay at the Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf! The property looked as if it had been remodeled and the colors and decor was very nicely done. We felt as if we were staying in a much more expensive place with the excellent service and nice view! The location of course is great and especially important if you are going to stay a short while. We were there New Year's Eve and although guests were asked not to party, there was some loud noise that took a while to eliminate. When we complained to the manager, he gave us EXCELLENT customer service and waived one of our charges. Because I train people in Cusomer Service, I expect a lot from a hotel and a manager and we were not disappointed! I highly recommend this hotel! Thank you for a great stay! 06 January 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed We have been staying at Holiday Inn Express exclusively for the past year on several trips throughout the West Coast and in England and this hotel was by far the most inferior of all our stays and the most expensive. As Priority Club members we were truly disappointed as the amenities that we have become accustomed to (Refrigerator, microwave, newer television and digital services, free wifi, etc.) were simply not available. The breakfast was warm but not hot, and the wait staff for the breakfast got in the way of the customers without apology. There was no view whatsoever in that our room looked out onto an inner courtyard that was not even landscaped and appeared more like an inner city apartment complex than an international hotel. The only bright spot was the smiling maids cleaning in the afternoons. Some of the front desk staff seemed to have no information about the Priority Club program and our first room assignment was a room that was not even made up for the day. Our next stay in San Francisco will not be at this hotel. 05 January 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient and comfortable We stayed here after Christmas for a couple of days with some guests from Europe. Rooms are allright, double beds are a little small but doable. there is a microwave, a little fridge, coffe maker and a blowdryer so you have most of your needs met.sofabed is way too big in size for the room which you can not open due to fire regulations!! I wish they replaced them with either smaller sofabed or a couple of chairs instead. walking distance to pier 39, restaurants, cafes and all.markets,drugstores nearby..Service is excellent,staff are prompt and helpful..Breakfast is great with lots of choices.Due to an unusual crowd eveywhere because of the season, it really helped us a lot to take care of that without spending any time or extra money elsewhere. Couple of computers in the lobby will take care of your needs of internet for free.the only negative would be the high parking fee which is $45 a night. We shed $90 just for that :( Still our favorite place to stay.thanx Holiday Inn we had a great time in SF :0 04 January 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Fisherman's Wharf location Comfortable room though had to keep curtains closed because we had an inside room which just looks onto other hotel guests' rooms. Breakfast is a bit of a gong show with large line ups and insufficient seating for peak times. Staff are punctual in closing service at 9:30 which I think is at least a half hour earlier than it should be. Also feel coffee should be available , if not all day, at least on an extended basis and not just at breakfast. Staff were efficient though not especially friendly. I had a problem with a vending machine not working and staff answer was to send me off to Walgreen's! Still would recommend because it provides a consistent HI experience as far as accommodations are concerned. Incidentally, parking is expensive though valet was always efficient an friendly. 02 January 2013

Rooms adiquate, had room facing internal courtyard but we were using points so can not complain and we were not there much. Great staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is the standard HI Express which is very adiquate, and breakfast time was busy food was well stocked. A great stay. 16 December 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 1130pm Check in w/ Andre Took the Amtrak train to SF on Sat. and arrived 1130pm with light rain and 50F. I re-verified our stay 2x (once on phone call 3 days prior, and once from co. e-mail one day prior to check in). Arrive and NO reservation can be found. Instead of looking , the front desk TOLD me to go to the computer, FIND a reservation #, and THEN return to the desk with info; IF we were in fact in the correct hotel. ( I should say we have stayed here 1x prior, so, yes, it's the right address / hotel). So tired & wet, I did this, knowing I had accomplished this task 2x prior , in less than one week. Found info, finally got check in , when the desk person / Andre informed us, that he DELETED our reservation or had checked us in earlier and THEN deleted it (?). So be this at it may, we get the room key, head to the 3rd floor, and start to enter the room assigned, only to find luggage to our right at the door way. We back out, head down stairs, AGAIN at now 12 Midnight, and get a room on the 2nd floor. But , not before Andre asked if we had ENTERED the room ? (No we did not, as I just explained. We would expect that out of anyone else, but Thanks for the vote of confidence in our honesty!) Once in the hotel - it went fairly smoothly - breakfast could use a few more choices and the room service may want to check and see if we actually have coffee cups for use the next AM. Over all - it was OK, though most likely will not return to this location, even if good for transportation options / area restaurants. 12 December 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ecxellent Choice near Cruise Port Perfect location allowed us easy walks to see the sites and to find dinner nearby. The cruise port was just 5 blocks with curb cuts, so it was easy rolling luggage. Safeway, Walgreens and Trader Joes' were all about a block away. Check-in/out all easy, fast and friendly. Decor was attractive, clean and well maintained. The room was large with a comfy bed, quiet but no view at all, just the interior courtyard; this made it very quiet and also a very good value. Bathroom had enough space and nice toilettries; nice to have a tub instead of just a shower. Extra pillows were already on the bed. The desk lacked an outlet except for crawling underneath but there was an ethernet cable ready for use; no WiFi in the room, but free WiFi in the lobby. Breakfast included hot choices of eggs and all the cereals, fruits, juices, pastries, toast, yogurt etc as expected, plus pancakes! Overall this was an excellent choice for us for the night before our cruise. We flew into SFO and took a taxi, very expensive, $68 plus tip, oh well. 06 December 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location, but a few issues. Bed was very comfortable. Fan ran all night and I couldn't shut it off. Kept me awake. Finding the entry was very confusing as there are three Holiday Inn lobbies within 2 blocks. Took us a while to find it. Breakfast was fine. Appreciated the range of choices and adequate table space. Location is convenient for activities in the City. Many attractions are within walking distance. 24 November 2012
