Over all these years this hotel has been through many changes, all for the better. This is an older building but they are always upgrading to make it nicer. The best part for me is the staff. They are like a second family. They are always friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. What this hotel lacks in modern hooplah is completely made up for with it's personnel. I've recommended this hotel to dozens of people over the years and all have loved it. The place has a wonderful personality. August 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very old buildings and very dated facility I've been staying there for the past year as my son is going to college in Monterey and playing baseball there. We are from South Florida. I really enjoy the Holiday Inn brand however for the location, beautiful Monterey, this hotel is very, very old and not maintained very well from a maintenance and upkeep perspective. The rooms are always clean and the staff always very friendly but the rooms and bathrooms are very small. Also, there always seems to be flies around the hallways and the 1 elevator w/ 5 floors is very, VERY slow. I did notice the renovation going on in the lobby! And the breakfast has always been enjoyable. Most likely will be looking for another place to stay in the area as we travel there about every other month. Somewhat disappointed.....Holiday Inn Fan!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff and Good Breakfast The hotel lobby is currently under renovation so despite their temporary front desk area, the staff remained cheerful and welcoming. The hotel itself still has a "motel" feel about it due to the properties age. It looks though with ongoing renovations that they can bring it up to par with the other Holiday Inns. August 26, 2015
