Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BAQ1 Oversized King??? A Comedy of Errors
Perhaps my worst stay at a Holiday Inn hotel. This was a comedy of errors.
First the room was advertised as a 'King Oversized'. I called and specifically asked if it was a handicap room and was told 'No, it just has a HUGE bathroom and extra space'. I asked three times, and there was nothing in the description to indicate handicap. But I did pay a premium for the oversized.
Second, I called and requested a cot. No cots were available when I arrived. Further, no extra blankets were available, and I had to beg for extra sheets. I was traveling with my wife and son, so the extra bedding was necessary.
Third, the room was advertised with a sofa. I called and was told it was a sofa sleeper. Of course this was not the case.
Fourth, on arrival, the room didn't even HAVE a SOFA. It only had a chair and ottoman. THIS is where I ended up sleeping the first night. The second night, I asked if anybody was checking out that had a cot. None were available, but miraculously a sofa sleeper became available (thank you Front Desk). It took three trips from the maintenance crew to get it right though. The first trip was only a sofa (no sleeper). Second trip, a second sofa with a sleeper was available (where were these on the first night?). Third trip, the bedding was delivered, which I made the bed myself.
Fifth, the air conditioning unit was horrible. We had it turned on high Cold, but the room was very warm - uncomfortably warm. The unit also made a loud noise that woke us up every 10 minutes, each time it kicked in. This was right beside the chair I was trying to sleep in too.
Sixth, the room was made up after the first night, but no towels were left! Housekeeping took the soiled ones but did not leave fresh. We didn't realize this until my wife was getting out of the shower.
Seventh, the room only had one small trash can, and that was in the bathroom. Where do we put all of our trash?
Eighth, the room had no refrigerator. In fairness, I am not certain this was in the Amenities, although it is something I have come to expect at HIExpress hotels.
Ninth, there was no hairdryer. So not only could we not dry ourselves (without towels), we could not dry our hair. This WAS in the Amenities listing.
All this said, the front desk and maintenance staff were very friendly. The appeared willing to help. The location was great. And they allowed our dog to stay with us in the room. But overall the experience was awful. I don't think I can stay at this hotel again!
