Obviously the reason this hotel is here is Stansted Airport but it is a good hotel in its' own right and should be considered for other regional stays. The front desk staff provide a cheery welcome whatever the time of day and are quick and efficient. My IHG status was recognised and welcomed. For some reason they do not spend endless time on the computer when processing an already entered reservation - very good. The room we had was up to Holiday Inn standard and the only problem, in the room, was poor wifi signal. This was reported and while they could not do anything immeadiately (we didn't want to move) we were compensated and I felt sure the issue would be attended to.
The common areas including bar and restaurant are pleasant and bright. We ate an evening meal there and the service was excellent. A minor issue with catering was sorted with good humour and humility and no harm was done.
Another advantage of the location is the nearby shop/mini supermarket where anything forgotten or needed, perhaps for ones kitchen at home, or journey, is available.

We booked a triple room but arrived to find you don't do triple rooms. So my friend and I bunker in together. We asked the manager for a couple more duvets and to be fair he obliged without too much fuss. My other acquaintance was left with the fold out bed. To say it was uncomfortable was an understatement! She spent most of the night awake and even tried sleeping on the floor! You dont pay for a hotel to sleep on the floor!! We did express our concerns the next morning and we're told 'we don't do triple tooms' and that was it. Not impressed at all!

So, I thought I would stop out at the airport while working in London. Only 45 minutes from Liverpool St Station and a connecting bus from the Hotel to the airport made this convenient.
The New rotisserie restaurant made the most amazing chicken goujons. None of that frozen rubbish.
Anyway, my only two issue with the hotel, was that the bed kept moving away from the headboard, and smokers would stand outside the front door, allowing smoke to come in while you are eating in the restaurant.
Staff were friendly, food was good.

I booked the hotel via a phone link from the webb site, as I wanted to leave the car and then return for a 1 night stay.
The telephone number was a premium rate line charging an additional 13p per minute. I do think it's a bit off to charge a premium rate, just to make a reservation .
After discussing my needs and agreeing the price, which was higher than the website, I received a confirmation e mail which indicated the operator had made a mistake in the booking for the overnight stay. I had to make a return call to rectify this and was quoted a higher price.
I arrived at the hotel and noticed a price promise, and a much lower price on line. I raised this with the receptionist who promptly curtousely and efficiently arranged for the lower price to be applied. My thanks for this.
The room was clean and well presented, however the mattress was very poor, and both my wife and I did not have a comfortable night.
Breakfast was included, but fell well below standard, with only sausage, scrambled egg and beans as the hot choice. This not as good as is offered in other value range hotels. The general decour of the hotel was tired and requires a refresh.

I checked in to the hotel as my return flight was the 11.20 arrival from coming. On arrival at the hotel circa 12.30an I was given room 350 ( I think). Took my bags up to rhe room and found that this was oom has not been made up or cleaned. Went back down to reception with bags and was given another room 480 I think. R this room was fine.but not the experience after a flight home

Overall a good experience but the rooms are now a bit tired with broken or missing lights, no plugs in the sink and old pillows. The staff however are friendly and breakfast reasonable. Good desk and OK internet. The place needs a freshen up so that it can get back to its old high standards.
