Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel with Excellent Staff I had 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Tamworth, and thought the hotel was very good on the whole. The staff were excellent - very friendly and also very helpful when needed. The room was a very good size - immaculately clean, well decorated and had an excellent bathroom with power shower. There was also a large flat screen tv and workdesk/chair and sofa which was useful. My only small gripes would be that I would prefer a slightly softer matress and I found the pillows a little uncomfortable - although soft and firm pillows were both provided to choose from. It was quiet and although I was on the side of the hotel facing the road, there was no problem with noise. I thought the selection of cereal, fruits, cheese, yoghurt at breakfast was very good, but found the hot options only average at best. Overall, a great visit, and I would certainly stay in this hotel again - but perhaps bring my own pillow next time! 14 February 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff. The beds in IHG hotels make me seasick. They wobble crazily so this is not a criticism of Tamworth but all IHG beds. Saying that, I always sleep ok as long as I don't toss and turn. Staff here are lovely and had the biggest room I have ever had at an IHG property. The bathroom in particular was well up to standard. The carpet and curtains had some stains on them as did the bed valance...I tried not to think about that. I suppose you pay for what you get, although I felt I had real value at Tamworth. I had a large dog with me and the staff welcomed me happily as I have also experienced in other IHG properties. This is the main reason I always use IHG on trips. I always bring covers for the room as I do not want this facility to stop. 14 February 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy and practical On this occasion we used the meeting rooms and even had lunch: everything was fine, staff was very helpful, whether for the meeting rooms arrangement or any internet connection issues. Food was good for lunch, quick and easy, nothing too special or sophisticated. Meeting was enjoyable, room was not too hot, air con worked fine despite being a big group. Used the U-shape which worked. Finally all things considered the price paid per guest is very competitive and in line with what you can expect at an Holiday Inn Express. 11 February 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Good stay Although this is a pretty basic hotel in terms of decor and facilities, you cannot fault the room cleanlyness and the size of my room at least. Showers are great and staff attentive. Breakfast is a bit basic and an odd bacon rasher would not go a miss with the egg and sausages. Overall a good stay for an overnight rest. 03 February 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room 101 cold poor quality Yet another room where the air con is broken room 132 last month room 101 this week. The Hotel prides it self on its location but the service and quality is poor. (1) Air con noisy even when switched off. When turned on only cold air came out. As this weekend was very cold and wet having a cold room was not a pleasant experience. (2) Ripped bedding on double bed! As we arrive late with my young daughter on the Friday my partner said leave the bedding issue and house keeping will change the bedding tomorrow. Next night cold room and ripped bedding either I was very unlucky and had two sets of ripped sheets or they did not get changed. (3) Breakfast - The breakfast was included in the price of the room but cold sausages and beans are not to our taste we ended up eating out. As I travel to Tamworth often I have found all in all there are other hotels chains near by offering a better service and quality. 03 February 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BJ I use this hotel about once a month on average. It's clean, comfortable, convenient location for station and town centre. I'd prefer a more continental-style breakfast selection - cold meats, cheeses, variety of breads. But this isn't a major factor in my choice of hotel for this type of visit. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always a winner Well what can I say, yet another good night in Tamworth and Holiday Inn Express. The hotel is always a winner for me as my past reviews will tell you. A great situation and a pleasure to stay in, once again topped off with a trip to the Portabello Italian restaurant in the town centre. If I must mark them down on something it is the breakfast which was down on the normal standard on this last visit. I am sure I will be back and perhaps fine morning refreshments to be back to their normal standard by then. 11 January 2014

It had all the amenities that I needed and would definitely book again. My only criticism would be that we were not reminded that breakfast was served earlier on weekdays, so we missed breakfast by 10 minutes on Monday morning. 11 January 2014

The shower was a great size and very modern. The sofa bed didn't look very comfortable but the children never complained. This was our second stay and we all enjoyed our visit and look forward to doing it again soon. 11 January 2014

The hotel bar,breakfast area and reception are always clean and well kept, and the complimentary breakfast is all you would ever need. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent We visited this hotel as it was right next to the venue we wanted to go to. The room was great, comfy and clean. We knew in advance that the restaurant would not be open that evening so plenty of take away menus were made available to order from as well as the use of the restaurant tables, plates etc etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. I enjoyed breakfast but my husband would have loved to see more variety with the cooked breakfast. All in all a great stay and would def stay here again. 04 January 2014

Drove to nearby Chinese buffet restaurant but think it may be within easy walking distance around the lake but unless I had checked in the daylight did not want to risk it. Nothing to complain about with hotel, only small mention is the extra sofa bed is uncomfortable for an adult although unlike us I expect it would normally be the child using this 0-: 04 January 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It was different Unfortunately we arrived to discover that they do not serve food on a Friday, checked in and went to ask where else. Were then informed we could go to the centre next door as they served food until late only to discover they stopped serving at 9pm. Internet terminals didn't respond so ended up going to bed without anything as too tired to drive out and find somewhere - be warned 19 December 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Telephone not connected. Lamp by TV not working. Sofa bed mattress very thin, no tissues in holder in bathroom, not enough milk. A weeping deputy manager on reception taking a phone call from irrate customer. Items reported and we were told they would be fixed the next day. Told ALL rooms had sofa beds, no rooms with 2 double beds. At end of our stay, nothing had been mended and we viewed several rooms on our floor on the way out with 2 DOUBLE BEDS. I do not like being lied to. They did however waive the cost of the second night stay. Our first experience of a Holiday Inn Express, not great. 17 December 2013

The only thing that wasn't perfect was the bar service - a bit more training on how to serve drinks would rectify this. 16 December 2013
