Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Brilliant 'Hotel' I stayed at the 'Holiday Inn Express' for a Snowboarding lesson the following morning. I had a wonderful stay, helpful and friendly staff (That is normally a cliché but in this instance is very true). The breakfast is varied and having stayed in several places where a 'Continental Breakfast' is standard, it was nice to have the option of a more 'British' breakfast, especially with a hard day ahead of you. The distance to the 'Snowdome' makes this a great choice for the night before or day after a days lesson on the slopes. Fantastic stay and would recommend this place to my friends and family. 09 October 2013

Its situation is good and the hotel spotlessly clean, easy, quick to book in, after a tiring journey. The beds comfortable, fresh and clean, would recommend, for price and service. 04 October 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Apalling experience. Despite requesting a non-smoking room on their website when I booked, unbeknownst to me - the holiday inn site offered me a smoking room. I ended up unknowingly accepting that. When the issue was discovered (as soon as I opened the door to the room!) the staff were sympathetic, but ultimately unhelpful, as there were only smoking rooms available. I therefore ended up with my clean clothes smelling of stale cigarette smoke for the whole of the next day. Pretty unimpressed. To cap it all off, the bathroom of the least smelly smoking room I was eventually forced to accept was in a terrible state, with loose & broken floor tiles and large quantities of missing grout leaving the dirty surface underneath exposed. That allied to some noisy neighbours across the hallway made for a terrible overall experience. I'd find it hard to recommend this hotel to anyone based on the quality of my stay. I know this style of accommodation is relatively inexpensive, but even considering that - 1/10 Holiday Inn - must try harder. 03 October 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel in a Good Area We stayed for one night here as we were going to Drayton Manor the next day. On arrival we were greeted by pleasant and friendly front of house staff. The room was basic but very nice and it was good to find that the sofa bed had been made up ready for use. The hotel is within walking distance of many things to do. The town is a walk through the castle grounds and there are restaurants to choose from in the town or Frankie and Benny''s is just round the corner. Breakfast was busy the next morning as the hotel offers a sitting for an hour at a time. We selected the 8.30 to 9.30 slot, but got there slightly earlier. It was very quiet when we arrived but bang on 8.30 it got busy, maybe just saying breakfast is between 7.30 and 10.30 and letting people decide when they want to come down it won't be as hectic as at about 9.00 it went quiet again. I personally feel by offering the slots its creates congestion as everyone arrives at the same time, There was plently to choose from and fairly well stocked up. We bought drinks from the bar at night and felt these were overpriced but it was nice to be able to sit in the restaurant with the children and play a game whilst enjoying a drink. We would definately come back to explore the area rather than just a visit to Drayton Manor and I would recommend the hotel to others. 12 September 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good base to explore Tamworth. My family of 2 adults and 2 children of 9 and 5 stay here every year so we can go to Dayton Manor and explore Tamworth. The rooms are always clean and well presented. Check in and out is always quick with happy smiley reception staff. The breakfast buffet is great with a wide range of choice. Unfortunately on this occasion we found the bed and sofa bed in our room to be very uncomfortable. Also, I don't like having to pay the £1 car park fee. Usually as an IHG member the ticket could be swiped at reception to avoid paying the fee. All in all this is a good value family hotel and my family and I are already planning our next trip. 07 September 2013

(Which is literally next door) the hotel & rooms were clean and we could not fault the reception staff. Breakfast was a real bonus! Good choice and excellent value when you consider the room prices. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good value, clean night stop. On site parking also for only £1. We will most certainly be going back when we re-visit the snowdome. 05 September 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean friendly hotel the first time we have stayed here, execellent room very clean, breakfast ok, but constantly running out of plates etc. served in a small area for the amount of people getting breakfast. but on the whole a pleasant weekend and we would definately stay there again. one gripe, we had a drink on getting back in the evening, i needed to take the glass back to the bar as it looked like lipstick on the rim. the barman tried to remove it with a tissue and give the glass back to me, until i said i wanted a new clean glass. but he could have just been inexpierenced so i will give the benefit of the doubt there, it wont stop us staying there again. 05 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely room, massive shower! We have never stopped in a holiday inn before. We were not disappointed with our stay. The room was lovely and modern, clean and tidy. The bathroom was very clean with the biggest shower I've ever seen,probably big enough for the whole family! Breakfast was included in the price of our stay, again we were not disappointed. There was plenty of choice for ourselves and the children and all left with full tummies ready for the day ahead. We only briefly had any dealings with the staff when checking in and out but they were very friendly and happy. Would recommend this hotel. 04 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean and impressed This was our first time at a Holiday Inn hotel and TBH we thought we was gonna get a cheap and cheerful roof above our head just for one night as we're visiting Thomas Land for 2 days, but NO! Upon arrival, I was shocked to see how clean and modern the area looked. When walking through the corridors to our room everywhere is so clean and spotless. As soon as we walked into our room I was well amazed to see everything so immaculate. The room design is very modern. The shower room is very clean and spotless. The shower unit itself is hot and powerful. There was more than enough towels for a family of 4. Also they provide 2 decent size bottles of shower gel/shampoos unlike most other hotels where they give you little samples of shampoo and soap which is enough for just 1 person. The room had blackout curtains which was brilliant but the only thing annoyed me a bit was the bed. The bed was quite wobbly. The breakfast is OK but for the price I paid I wasn't expecting a massive range of buffet breakfast. Highly recommend! 03 September 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by close to town It was a bank holiday Saturday; we arrived early as we had a wedding to go too. We had previously telephoned to ask if we could be early. They pointed out that it was a bank holiday and it was full. On arrival we asked for an early check in, we were informed that they were full, so no. we went into the town. Just over the footbridge and you are there, just a couple of minutes. When we returned we were informed that our rooms were still not ready. Again we explained that we had a wedding to get too. We were allowed to check in 25 minutes after the check in time. We stood there while others came in and were given their rooms immediately! This is not good! The rooms are lovely and the shower is worth the cost of the room. The food was ok it was very busy with timed sittings for breakfast. It’s in an ideal location even though you have to pay for parking every time you go in or out. Its only £1 but every time you go in and out!? Staff were rushed off their feet and had no time for idle chatter, or even to tell you were your room was, food was or how to get in after midnight. (The doors were wide open). Over all the room, shower and breakfast were worth the laterooms cost, for the full price I would have expected better customer services. 02 September 2013

On arrival not much information given regarding food available in hotel or facilities available. Breakfast was far too busy, had to wait for a table, and had to ask for it to be cleared/cleaned. Breakfast itself was nothing special but acceptable. All said would use hotel again. 01 September 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptionally clean room We had a lovely room that looked out on to the lake, the room not very big but perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. Room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. The room had everything we needed, There was no food in the evening in the hotel but we were given takeaway menus by the very friendly and helpful staff which was perfect for us, Breakfast was fine, we chose the later slot and it was not that busy , food was being topped up all the time, lots of things to choose from, juice was not so nice, tasted as it hadn't been mixed properly but that is the only bad thing I would say about the whole stay. Would definitely stay here again, Good location with lots to do outside of hotel, 10/10 30 August 2013

From the very friendly clerk on the reception desk, to the very acceptable room with the best TV of any I have ever stayed in, to the choice at breakfast, to the ironing room. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as one would expect from a Holiday Express Having stayed at this Holiday Express for 3 nights,it is very new and the room was to a very high standard,,,however the breakfast in the morning let this place down,,,we were given a choice of breakfast times because i was told they were very busy,,we opted for a 8.30 slot,which we duly kept to,,,,by 9.30 we were still in a queue for the buffet breakfast,the whole area is far to small for the number of guests it caters for,,,someone needs to address the problem. As for the breakfasr itself it was nothing brilliant,,,also had to clear tables to get a seat,,,,would i stay here again no. 28 August 2013

The room was a good size, very clean and modern. Nice bar area downstairs and breakfast the next morning was very nice with a good selection of food. The staff were very helpful and polite. Lots of other amenities / shops nearby. Would defiantly return and would happily recommend. 27 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by staff pleasant and helpful. Bed uncomfortable and bad smell The hotel looked good from outside reception area welcoming. Staff was friendly and helpful. When booking was told was last family room but was not informed of its location on the smoking floor. As I walked along the corridor to the room it smelt badly of stale smoke which as a non smoker was not very welcoming with a small child. My night sleep was not the best as the mattress was thin and soft. Glad I was only staying 1 night. 26 August 2013

Two of us stayed on 19-20 of August , hotel was recommended by a training company , there were some issues regarding the booking but main problem we had( after they could not offer us a room we booked) was an alarm noise all night outside our room! I went downstairs to the reception twice during the night, first they re assured me the problem will be fixed, but 30 min later I had go again and ask why it's taking so long. Receptionist offered me a coffer or tea, not a great solution for a sleepless night with alarm noise going on !I told that will not go to my room untill they tell me what is going on, 20 min later , he told that a guest triggered a panic alarm( sure the staff should of known about it as an indicator of a problem in the hotel would of come on the system ) and no one can stop it, as repair person only will come at 7 am, so I asked to be moved to a different room, but they could not , because hotel was full. I have asked for duty manager, only to be told they did not have one on that night, than receptionist suggested for me to go to the room and try to sleep. When booking this hotel( at the time it was more expensive than other hotels in the area) I thought, Holliday Inn Group is good and reliable chain, in the past never had a problem. This experience is a very unsatisfactory one, as in the morning no one on reception said anything when we checked out, untill I mention about alarm noise I got reply- sorry. I understand, the problems can happen in any business, but its how they delt with it makes me angry, it was not in professional way but a poor. At the end I would think hotel should offer a reduction for problematic night stay that was created/ overlooked by the staff but non was offered . 25 August 2013
