Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend Stay at Holiday Express Tamworth An excellent, value for money hotel that I would highly recommend. The rooms are large, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Spotlessly clean, good selection of soft or firm pillows, comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities. Helpful and welcoming staff and a great setting being close to town (we walked within 10 minutes) and surrounded by a variety of activities, in particular the Snow Dome, all within walking distance. We will definitely be going back to stay at this hotel! 17 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfortable room. Lovely staff and hotel. Very surprised at the quality of hotel room and comfort. Great location for Drayton Mannor so would recommend this hotel 16 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value for Families Excellent location for the SnowDome. Breakfast was good apart from the juice and absence of croissants during our second stay there. There is a lack of storage space in the bedroom which meant we were living out of our suitcase, other than that you had everything you needed. The room was clean, main bed comfortable and sofa bed adequate. There was a good Free-view TV in the room and a wired network connection (this cost extra). An ice machine and free wireless internet in the lobby were a welcome bonus. I found the staff to be polite and helpful. 16 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Brand Standard Breakfast The hotel and the staff are wonderful and it is in an ideal position for the Snowdome and Drayton Manor. However the Sausage and scrambled egg breakfast is pretty appalling and to be told that the sausage is part of the brand standard is frankly incredible. If I was the brand manager I would be heading for the exit asap. I understand that the costs have to be kept to a minimum but the main competitor in the area offers super breakfasts and when you add the cost of exiting the car park at £1.00 per time then this hotel soon becomes more expensive and less value for money 14 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thank you for a fantastic stay Couldn't ask for anything more. The service was fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. Rooms very clean, everything modern and new. Breakfast had ample choice and evening meals served in the restaurant very good. Excellent value for money and will come back again. Nothing negative to say. 13 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always a winner I have stayed at Tamworth HI Express a few times now over the years and it always provides a perfectly adequate spot for business meetings. The staff are always curtious and helpful and although it isn't the best breakfast in the world the outlook and quiet seating area in reception is great for working in. The rooms are smart, adequatly equipped, well presented and I have only ever had a peaceful nights sleep. The Portobello Italian restaurant in Taworth just 10 minutes walk away and is always worth a visit as well, good food at a great price. I hope to stop there many more times in the future. 13 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay. Very clean and modern express hotel. Friendly staff. Room very clean and modern and no issues. Only minor point was the cooked breakfast. It Could benefit from a few more items to choose from. Apart from that very enjoyable stay. 13 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, decent room I stay in 4* plus hotels two or three times a week, I'm used to high standards of hotel. Here the receptionist was superb, we really felt welcome. The room was big enough (just) for the four of us. The aircon was quieter than most. Nice bathroom too. Location was ideal (visited Castle, Snowdome and Drayton Manor). Family eateries within walking distance and a good breakfast to start the day. 12 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel and staff fine, food service very poor Hotel, room and staff were fine. Food service was very slow 45 minutes for soup, 75 minutes to main course. Only about 18 diners of whom 8 walked out. regulars ordered takeaways, and ate them in the restaurant, clearly not a one off issue. We were told no kitchen staff were available, waitress left to handle complaints etc. Food quality acceptable for the price. 11 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Awful bed awful service Got to reception waited about 15-20 mins one person on there working que was out the door got to our room the keys didn't open the door sorted that out then got in and there wasn't enough pillows or beding for our children asked reception and she said we can get u a pillow and a sheet but don't keep anything else here not happy my husband and I didn't sleep at all the bed was awfull and when the kids moved on there bed it squeeked the air con sounded like a kettle boiling all night in your ear the breakfast was ok I wouldn't recommend a holiday inn to anyone stay away 11 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent hotel for value!! would recommend this hotel to family and friends and would go back again!!! we booked here because we went to drayton manor and it was very close to it and it had everything we needed!!! staff was very friendly, room was clean and it was very modern compared to places we have been! 10 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location with knowledgeable staff Found staff very helpful and the Hotel great value for money. 08 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and friendly... Stayed here for two nights, room was comfortable and very clean, usual stuff - flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities, plenty of towels... only comment on room would be that mattress could do with changing as a bit lumpy in places. Microwave in lobby for public use a nice touch for heating food and milk for our toddler, but could do with a good clean and on a regular basis. Breakfast was a surprise, plenty of it with hot and cold options. All in all a good place to stay with excellent child friendly places to visit in walking distance - Snowdome, swimming pool, soft ball play area and large retail park for Mums and Dads. 07 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable and peaceful I find having to pay for the car park every time we went out a bit annoying, luckily we were only stopping one night. 04 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great place to stay could not fault holiday inn comfort, clean excellent facillities.Staff couldnt do enough for you.Very family friendly and plenty places around to eat and do 03 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tamworth for Drayton Mannor visit We have been visiting Tamworth HIE for the last 5 years since our first son fell in love with 'his room and breakfast' on our first visit to stay over for Thomas Land. He believes we get the same room every year (think it clicked this year that it was different, as he is 6 going on 7 now). Helpful polite staff, good clean rooms and services. Local retail park good for a visit as is the local lake walk. If you wish to use the nearby beefeater pub ensure you make a reservation. If you like the snow dome and pool that is available but we have never used it. Geese are friendly if you have bread, but scared our youngest as I guess they were hungry this year! Room maintenance and servicing is very good. Breakfast is excellent for the price. Overall we like our visits and will see you next year, for the same room :o) 02 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very nice nice and clean, good location for drayton manor and the snowdome, only neg had to pay a pound for parking-why? 02 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal location to visit Thomasland at Drayton Manor !! Very reasonably priced for weekend stay to visit Thomasland at Drayton Manor. Walking distance to snowzone, leisure pool, softplay and retail shopping park. Family room very comfortable Kingsize bed and pull down sofa double bed for kids. Fab power shower and modern bathroom. Good breakfast excellent mix of fruit, yogurts, pastries, breads, sausage, scrambled eggs and beans included. Have stayed previously and will stay again. 02 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, comfortable, cordial, cheap Great time at the holiday Inn. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location was excellent for us as we visited the snowdome. Some noisy guests banging doors and shouting but it was a weekend and this was more a reflection on those people than on the hotel. ( I didn't report it) Would recommend it and would like to return in the future 02 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No electricity!!!! We had an electric shortage in our room at 7am. On reporting the problem I was told there was nothing they could do. I requested another room to be able to shower. We were told they didn't know which room was free due to the power cut! After an hr they found one. You also need to pay a £1 for parking each time you leave the hotel. Non refundable. Service at breakfast was brilliant. Very clean and tidy. 02 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Back to normal I was very pleased to find that the problems I experienced on my previous visit had been resolved. I still think that a complete no-smoking policy is appropriate, and look forward to your comments on this. 31 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean and comfortable Had a very pleasant stay clean, tidy and comfortable on the Saturday night with the rain when we got takeaway staff so helpful plenty of things to do around the hotel and very easy to get to. 31 July 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Why a smoking room? I stay at this hotel regularly and frequently. I book online, and my preferences are unchanged. So I was very surprised to find I'd been allocated a smoking room. The corridor and the room reeked of stale tobacco, and as the hotel was fully booked, I was not offered a non-smoking room as specified among mu preferences. Had I not been so tired, I would have asked the staff to find me an alternative hotel, which I would have expected Holiday Inn to pay for. The air freshener spray simply added an extra layer of smells. The staff ensured that my original preferences were noted and applied for my most recent stay. I want to know why my preferences had been randomly changed on your booking system. I seriously considered not staying at Holiday Inn on future visits to Tamworth. I'm still affected by the smokey atmosphere - I can't remembr when I last had a cold and the associated unpleasant symptoms. Please confirm that this won't happen again. 31 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for sports and relaxation within reach of local facilities Well located for sports facilities and tends to get used by families because of this. Good for the business traveller as well, like me with quiet area for internet and good parking facilities on site. 30 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal location This hotel is situated near the centre of Tamworth and is a short walk from the main shopping areas. The accommodation is comfortable and clean and there is ample parking around the hotel. I would use this hotel again and I would recommend it to my friends. 30 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value for Money Lovely room with a massive shower. Comfortable bed. Clean and tidy. Good choice of breakfast. highly recommend. Stayed there for one night while taking our son to Drayton Manor (only 10 mins away). Staff polite and very helpful. 28 July 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by OK for a short stay We used the hotel for a one night stay and it was fine for our basic needs. Staff lovely and tried incredibly hard during a very busy weekend. For a relatively new hotel it was a bit shabby with loose light fittings, obviously well used furniture and a shower tray that needed a bit of help to unblock. 27 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very good service my husband and myself went with our two grandson's, we found it very comfortable , and the breakfast had a good varietof for the boy's. We were going to thomas land at drayton manor and the hotel was very near. 26 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic stay in an amazing hotel We weren't sure what to expect when we booked the Holiday Inn in Tamworth but we were amazed. Having never stayed in a Holiday Inn before (But used others like it) we were pleasantly surprised when we got there. We were staying at Tamworth as a two night stay to visit Thomasland with our four year old daughter. The hotel was immaculate from the outset. We had a room that faced onto the road but we didn't even know it. The soundproofing was excellent as was the black out curtains(Can we please find out where you go them as they were fantastic?) The bathroom looked brand new and everything was wonderful. The beds were really comfy and we liked that we had the choice of soft or firm pillows as I like soft and my hubby like firm. The staff were phenomenal, they even let us back into the room after we had checked out as we realised we had left something of our daughters. Thank you Holiday Inn Tamworth we will definitely be back. 21 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and service We stayed as the hotel as it was so close so Drayton Manor but the hotel has a beautiful lake and Tamworth Castle and its grounds adjacent to it. The service was helpful and friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were ultra modern (huge power shower!) and the air conditioning was a massive plus in the 30 degree heat - definately stay again 21 July 2013
