Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely room, massive shower! We have never stopped in a holiday inn before. We were not disappointed with our stay. The room was lovely and modern, clean and tidy. The bathroom was very clean with the biggest shower I've ever seen, probably big enough for the whole family! Breakfast was included in the price of our stay, again we were not disappointed. There was plenty of choice for ourselves and the children and all left with full tummies ready for the day ahead. We only briefly had any dealings with the staff when checking in and out but they were very friendly and happy. Would recommend this hotel. 04 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean and impressed This was our first time at a Holiday Inn hotel and TBH we thought we was gonna get a cheap and cheerful roof above our head just for one night as we're visiting Thomas Land for 2 days, but NO! Upon arrival, I was shocked to see how clean and modern the area looked. When walking through the corridors to our room everywhere is so clean and spotless. As soon as we walked into our room I was well amazed to see everything so immaculate. The room design is very modern. The shower room is very clean and spotless. The shower unit itself is hot and powerful. There was more than enough towels for a family of 4. Also they provide 2 decent size bottles of shower gel/shampoos unlike most other hotels where they give you little samples of shampoo and soap which is enough for just 1 person. The room had blackout curtains which was brilliant but the only thing annoyed me a bit was the bed. The bed was quite wobbly. The breakfast is OK but for the price I paid I wasn't expecting a massive range of buffet breakfast. Highly recommend! 03 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay while we visited Thomas Land Excellent value for money. Only downside was that the restaurant is not open on a fri or sat but they do make takeaway numbers available for u and there is places to eat nearby 03 September 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by close to town It was a bank holiday Saturday; we arrived early as we had a wedding to go too. We had previously telephoned to ask if we could be early. They pointed out that it was a bank holiday and it was full. On arrival we asked for an early check in, we were informed that they were full, so no. we went into the town. Just over the footbridge and you are there, just a couple of minutes. When we returned we were informed that our rooms were still not ready. Again we explained that we had a wedding to get too. We were allowed to check in 25 minutes after the check in time. We stood there while others came in and were given their rooms immediately! This is not good! The rooms are lovely and the shower is worth the cost of the room. The food was ok it was very busy with timed sittings for breakfast. It’s in an ideal location even though you have to pay for parking every time you go in or out. Its only £1 but every time you go in and out!? Staff were rushed off their feet and had no time for idle chatter, or even to tell you were your room was, food was or how to get in after midnight. (The doors were wide open). Over all the room, shower and breakfast were worth the laterooms cost, for the full price I would have expected better customer services. 02 September 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room was perfectly acceptable Accommodation was fine, very clean and a decent size for a family room. On arrival not much information given regarding food available in hotel or facilities available. Breakfast was far too busy, had to wait for a table, and had to ask for it to be cleared/cleaned. Breakfast itself was nothing special but acceptable. All said would use hotel again. 01 September 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room Only time we spoke to a member of staff, was to collect the keys and he was polite and efficient. The room was spotless and nicely decorated, the only down side was the sofa bed, It was extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast was good. 31 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel And Staff Stay on a regular basis with work and never been let down by the hotel and staff Think they could make more money if the food at night was better as nice seating area and you can have a drink with your meal Rooms great and wish I could take the shower home with me. Free Wi Fi would be a bonus Get a room with an even number as face the lake 30 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptionally clean room We had a lovely room that looked out on to the lake, the room not very big but perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. Room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. The room had everything we needed, There was no food in the evening in the hotel but we were given takeaway menus by the very friendly and helpful staff which was perfect for us, Breakfast was fine, we chose the later slot and it was not that busy , food was being topped up all the time, lots of things to choose from, juice was not so nice, tasted as it hadn't been mixed properly but that is the only bad thing I would say about the whole stay. Would definitely stay here again, Good location with lots to do outside of hotel, 10/10 30 August 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOISY You cant open window due to traffic noise and cant sleep because of a very noisy air conditioning system. Room was clean though. I will not recommend a main road view room in hot weather. 30 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel and Great Service This was a superb experience from start to finish. From the very friendly clerk on the reception desk, to the very acceptable room with the best TV of any I have ever stayed in, to the choice at breakfast, to the ironing room. This hotel ticks all the boxes and I would not hesitate to recommend or to stay there again. 29 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as one would expect from a Holiday Express Having stayed at this Holiday Express for 3 nights,it is very new and the room was to a very high standard,,,however the breakfast in the morning let this place down,,,we were given a choice of breakfast times because i was told they were very busy,,we opted for a 8.30 slot, which we duly kept to,,,,by 9.30 we were still in a queue for the buffet breakfast, the whole area is far to small for the number of guests it caters for,,,someone needs to address the problem. As for the breakfasr itself it was nothing brilliant,,,also had to clear tables to get a seat,,,,would i stay here again no. 28 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay & reasonable price I booked this hotel as my family were visiting Drayton manor ( which Is only 10 minutes away by car and easy to find). Overall we were really please with the room & facilities, the staff were polite, helpful & very friendly. I would recommend to anyone. 28 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by busy time Hotel very good but made a big mistake doing a bank holiday weekend Breakfast was set to times in the morning but queues long to wait for breakfast lots of children not a lot of places to sit and eat your breakfast on this bank holiday weekend I have stayed in your hotels before and have always been great I am sure it is normally very good but a bad weekend to pick 27 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value for money Stayed for one night at the Holiday inn after visiting Drayton Manor Theme park just 5 minutes down the road. The room was a good size, very clean and modern. Nice bar area downstairs and breakfast the next morning was very nice with a good selection of food. The staff were very helpful and polite. Lots of other amenities / shops nearby. Would defiantly return and would happily recommend. 27 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by staff pleasant and helpful. Bed uncomfortable and bad smell The hotel looked good from outside reception area welcoming. Staff was friendly and helpful. When booking was told was last family room but was not informed of its location on the smoking floor. As I walked along the corridor to the room it smelt badly of stale smoke which as a non smoker was not very welcoming with a small child. My night sleep was not the best as the mattress was thin and soft. Glad I was only staying 1 night. 26 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great shower and convenient for Snowdome I cannot believe that one of two broken coffee machines cannot be fixed during our 2 day stay. There was no recognition of being a member of IHG Rewards. Apart from this, our stay was excellent. 25 August 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sleepless night. Two of us stayed on 19-20 of August , hotel was recommended by a training company , there were some issues regarding the booking but main problem we had( after they could not offer us a room we booked) was an alarm noise all night outside our room! I went downstairs to the reception twice during the night, first they re assured me the problem will be fixed, but 30 min later I had go again and ask why it's taking so long. Receptionist offered me a coffer or tea, not a great solution for a sleepless night with alarm noise going on !I told that will not go to my room untill they tell me what is going on, 20 min later , he told that a guest triggered a panic alarm( sure the staff should of known about it as an indicator of a problem in the hotel would of come on the system ) and no one can stop it, as repair person only will come at 7 am, so I asked to be moved to a different room, but they could not , because hotel was full. I have asked for duty manager, only to be told they did not have one on that night, than receptionist suggested for me to go to the room and try to sleep. When booking this hotel( at the time it was more expensive than other hotels in the area) I thought, Holliday Inn Group is good and reliable chain, in the past never had a problem. This experience is a very unsatisfactory one, as in the morning no one on reception said anything when we checked out, untill I mention about alarm noise I got reply- sorry. I understand, the problems can happen in any business, but its how they delt with it makes me angry, it was not in professional way but a poor. At the end I would think hotel should offer a reduction for problematic night stay that was created/ overlooked by the staff but non was offered . 25 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean & tidy very clean & tidy hotel. we booked a family room the sofa bed could do with a thicker matress but not the end of the world. kept having problems with the tv such as no channels, remote not working & no signal. informed reception twice which they did try to fix problems but in the end we just left it, other than that helpfull staff and good breakfast. over the dual carrigeway there is an excellant park which a young family can stretch legs & let off steam, swings, slides, zip wire and big climbing frame fort. highly recommended and will use again 24 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfort and value Extremely comfortable and very good value, was central to what our needs were on this particular visit and will definitely be staying here again. 24 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family stay We stayed one nigy in a family room which was spacious with plenty of room for a travel cot in addition to the double sofa bed. Good room controlled air conditioning, clean, modern & well presented. Plenty of parking spaces. Helpful staff on our late arrival. Very good location to travel to Drayton manor, would definetly stay again. 23 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great experience We had a first-class room ~ very clean and with all the facilities one could ask for . ( thank you for the TV welcome ) The bathroom was excellent and with one of the finest shower cubicles we have ever come across . Staff were very friendly and extremely efficient . We would have no hesitation in booking again . Well done Tamworth !! 23 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A lovely hotel near Drayton Manor Lovely hotel, would recommend, the only problem we have found with all the holiday Inns for the family room, the sofa bed is uncomfortable, otherwise very good & very clean & the staff are very helpful. 23 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good overall We booked and stayed in 5 rooms following a family wedding. Everybody said room was clean and comfortable. We changed the room requirements at the last minute and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast wasn't as good as the staff didn't seem able to cope with the amount of guests t any one time. 22 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WOW, now thats what i call,"rested and tested ", great room, great atmosphere Hi, For the price this Hotel is Great, as Arnie once said" I'll be Back!". Ann 22 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value and location We booked Tamworth Holiday Inn Express mainly due to its proximity to Drayton Manor/Thomas Land. The price was very competitive and the best deal I could find was booking direct with the hotel. We found the hotel staff friendly and we were more than happy with our room. The breakfast was absolutely fine, some reviews I found harsh, but there was a selection of cereal, yoghurts, pastries and some hot items (sausages, beans & scrambled egg). Something for all age groups. The hotel doesn't serve meals at the weekend which I found bizarre but we were aware of this before we booked. We ate at Frankie & Bennies in the evening which was less than a ten minute walk past the snowdome and along the cycle track. This route may have been a bit hairy in the dark, but we were back while it was still light. A taxi there would've cost pennies. Tamworth centre is apparently less than ten mins in the other direction, but we didn't get chance to venture over. Great value, child friendly & would definitely recommend. 21 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed for two, but not for the whole family! The rooms are nicely furnished and decorated with a contemporary design,. The bathroom is smart and reasonably spacious and the shower powerful. The main double bed is comfortable but as for the bed settee - its the most uncomfortable thing ever to sleep on! The mattress- if you can call it one - is about an inch thick. I defy anyone older than about 5years ( and therefore of some weight ) to have a comfortable nights sleep on it! Regarding breakfast, any hot breakfast provision surely MUST include good old British bacon should it not!? Not here. .. Finally, in the past, as a Priority Club member I could park for no charge. This concession is no longer available. The Priority Club check in desk is also no longer in use. WIFI in the room is also chargeable to all. What I ask is the advantage of being a Priority Club member any longer?? 21 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Weekend Away We stayed at this lovely hotel for a family weekend away to Drayton Manor Themed Park. On arriving at the hotel the staff were very friendly and accommodating, Our room was all ready for us and our little boys bed was all ready for him to jump into. The power shower was also a treat after a busy day... There was plenty to choose from at breakfast time, Cereals, danish's, warm food, yoghurts fruit. All you need for a busy day ahead. We would definately stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends. On checking out of the hotel the process was very efficient and the staff helped us to our car with our luggage... All we can say is what a lovely time we had here. Thank you 21 August 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service lack of order and cleanliness The check in process was fairly straight forward. The room was clean and the shower facilities were the best I've seen in a Holiday Inn Express. When I called reception in the morning the reception staff rushed me off the phone and didn't explain about the ironing facilities which made me waste time going down to try to collect an iron when an ironing room was available. Breakfast was chaotic. Food had run out, staff were changing shifts so no one knew what they were doing. The cups, plates were brought out dirty and were not changed when I highlighted it. There was not enough space for people to be seated. I must say that it was appalling. I don't think I got value for money and I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. 21 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend Stay at Holiday Express Tamworth An excellent, value for money hotel that I would highly recommend. The rooms are large, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Spotlessly clean, good selection of soft or firm pillows, comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities. Helpful and welcoming staff and a great setting being close to town (we walked within 10 minutes) and surrounded by a variety of activities, in particular the Snow Dome, all within walking distance. We will definitely be going back to stay at this hotel! 17 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfortable room. Lovely staff and hotel. Very surprised at the quality of hotel room and comfort. Great location for Drayton Mannor so would recommend this hotel 16 August 2013
