Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spirit of Aloha in DC I have been a guest at the Holiday Inn Express since Sunday, November 9th, 2014. After a 14 hour flight from Hawaii where everyone is so kind with the spirit of Aloha, I didn’t expect the same treatment in DC. To my amazement EVERYONE without exception, has been exceptional. The reason for my visit to the area was the sudden illness and hospitalization of my sister. Throughout the days as her health declined the staff went out of their way to make sure I got back and forth to Washington Hospital Center and they expressed their genuine concern as I came and went. They let me know that they were praying for her and for me. When you don’t know anyone in town the smallest kindnesses means more than I can articulate. On November 18th my sister passed away and the next day as the staff usually do, they asked after her condition and were truly saddened to hear that she had lost her battle. From the complimentary shuttle rides, to the wonderful staff that prepare and set up the delicious free breakfast buffet (bacon on Tuesday), to housekeeping who keep the hotel clean and the front desk staff who extended a hundred little courtesies with a smile, and last but not least the shuttle drivers who seem like family to me now. I want to say a heartfelt thank you on behalf of my late sister and my entire family. I could not have been there for her, if you had not prepared a place so warm and inviting for me. The staff of the Holiday Inn Express at 1917 Bladensburg Rd, NE made what was a very stressful and isolating event tolerable. It’s not only what you do, it’s how you do it. When I finally checked out on November 26th I could not say a personal farewell to everyone as a big storm was approaching and I had to get on the road so let me tell you now in Hawaiian. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, Comfortable, and Friendly hotel This was my first experience at this hotel. I found the staff to be very friendly and rooms clean. Bed was comfortable. I did not really care for the location but due to shuttle availability, drop off and pick up service to and from the convention center, it did not bother me at all not being at the walking distance to the convention center. Will definitely stay here again. I hope they add shuttle service to a few more locations and make the drop off and pick up more frequent or at least take guest requests! 08 December 2014

My room was spotless and comfortable, the front desk staff were very friendly, and checking in and out was quick. Additionally, I felt like my vehicle was safe in the parking lot and I felt safe in the hotel. In the evening, the front door was locked to people without room keys and manned by security. The room rate was reasonable and I was overall very happy with my stay. 03 December 2014
