Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel in Watsonville - Okay if you are traveling through the area for a night but I would suggest if you are planning to go to SC or Monterey, you stay closer. The commute to both was very lengthy due to traffic and road work. The hotel itself was nice. The pool was amazing and the staff was helpful. Breakfast was ok but more on the poor side. We stay in HIE all the time, and this was by far, the worst we have ever had. Pancakes from a machine, precooked eggs and sausage, cereal, breads, and yogurt. The downside, this hotel is located in a strip mall in Watsonville. Nowhere near a beach or anything beachy. 30 March 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great alternative to staying in Santa Cruz This was a great alternative to staying in Santa Cruz. Our daughter is a student at UCSC and finding clean, comfortable lodging without having to pay a fortune has been difficult to find, until we stayed at this Holiday Inn express. Breakfast was delicious, the hotel was quiet and check in/out process was easy. Freeway access is simple. Overall, a great out of the way place to stay. 11 March 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stayed for a Funeral The front desk was fast to get us into our room. The room was nice but all the appliances for some reason were not plugged in. Plugged in everything and a couple of lights didn't turn on. I went downstairs to the front desk explaining that some lights did not turn on. The gentleman apologized for the inconvenience, and upgraded us to a room suite. I didn't ask for the upgrade either. I was very respectful explaining the situation and look what happens Great Customer Service. 24 February 2015
