Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Planning meeting I was in Abilene for a motorcycle planning meeting. The hotel was nice upon first appearances but the elevator seemed like it was on it's last leg. After we checked in, early and without problems, we left and went about our business. Upon returning to the room it smelled awful, like a gym locker room that had not been cleaned in years. It did not smell this bad when we first checked in. I asked the front desk about the odor and they gave me some air freshener, which just made the smell different. The elevator broke and was non functional most of the trip. I slept fine but was awoken up to a false fire alarm. Breakfast was good with many choices and well stocked. Overall Holiday Inn Express is typically a very quality stay and I can overlook one problem but odor, broken elevator, and fire alarm waking me up are just too many issues to ignore. I might as well have stayed at a cheaper hotel. July 17, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Housekeeping staff and facility was great... MGMT was HORRIBLE! I am a returning customer... stay once a year at this time. First of all, our party couldn't enjoy the breakfast as there was two family reunions going on and they hoarded the breakfast room and food. I cannot rate the breakfast choices as I didn't get to eat either day of my stay. Secondly, when I discovered that I and my travel companion was overcharged excessively, the manager didn't refund the correct amount and wouldn't take my calls. The front desk clerk told me that she didn't have a number to Guest Relations... which I found easily online. Their mistake caused me and my travel companion to be in a financial bind before a long July 4th weekend. The facility is great, the staff is great, the location is great... the management is questionable. When I contacted Guest Relations, even the representative said RED FLAG. I feel sorry for the staff. I recommend this property but watch your money, get a receipt and check your bank account when you get home! July 2, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid this hotel When I arrived, there was debris on the carpets and the sink was stopped up. I notified the front desk about the sink but not the carpets thinking housekeeping made an honest mistake. The next evening I arrived to a draining sink but a slow one and the same debris on the carpets. I notified the front desk and they advised a request for a full service cleaning of the room would be submitted. Third day, I arrived to the same debris on the carpets so I went back to the front desk and asked if I could borrow a vacuum so I could clean them myself. They sent the maintenance man to my room and he agreed the carpets were quite dirty and he would submit a request to steam clean them himself. Finally, on my fourth day, I arrived to clean carpets thanks to the maintenance man. June 24, 2014

We had a easy check in only a slight problem with needing a handicapped room that was not noted on reservation. Be the front desks changed it a timely manner. room was already for us. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unpleasant breakfast made for a unhappy stay When I checked in the girl at the front desk was extremely pleasant. She was all smiles and jokes. Made me feel like I was coming home. Kudos for her and her great attitude. The room were clean and comfy. It is located in a great location. Now for the bad part breakfast day one lady working in this area was not having a good day at all. Never said hi once and every time she was cleaning/ filling yogurt that was all she filled she did not look happy. Even my daughter mentioned something. Breakfast is until 10 but at 910 no eggs, no bagel, no rolls and I told my daughter she will fill just wait. Instead if filling she was packing and going. Apple juice was out at 930 nothing for my daughter. Eggs never got filled. Some people showed at 930 boy I feel sorry for them I hope u like pancakes from a machine cause that's what they got and the yogurt Never felt kicked out of my own hotel for breakfast. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Plumbing The Holiday Inn hotels are my first choice in all my travels. I do run into occacional minor issue here and there that are not worth mentioning. But this time I will take the time to explain why I gave a Fair and Average rating, when it should always be Good or Excellent. On my first morning on your Abilene location, I woke up and found out that the plumbing in the shower was NOT working at all. The sink water only had cold water running and NO hot water. I had to go to work without a shower that morning. When I informed the front desk, I was told that they'd have someone look into it. When I returned that evening, the plumbing was working. But, I don't believe the staff did enough to express their regret to have me go to work that morning without a shower. I wasn't looking for anything of tangible valure. A simple and heart felt appology would have gone a long way. By the way, there was a lack of Priority Club Member recognition from the front desk during check in. It felt like the front desk rep was more interested in getting back to the TV show than properly checking me in. March 25, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cold shower My husband and I stayed at this hotel on Friday, Jan 24th. When we used the shower on the morning of the 25th, it was freezing cold water, no hot water at all. I reported the problem to the front desk and she said she would let a manager know. She asked me about discounting the room and I told her I would appreciate just adding points, which they did not. Very disappointing. I should at least get what I paid for and that is not a cold shower. January 29, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by South Abilene Holiday Inn Express Stayed here for four nights. I was in a king bed room on the third floor. Quiet, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Only issue was the the wireless internet connection. The higher the floor the slower the connectivity. They are actively looking to fix that issue with fiber optics. Overall, I would stay here again. Rollo did a great job of getting us setup to check in early and we did not have move when our scheduled check came ready. We stay here a lot as we have family in the area and have always had a great experience. December 9, 2013

The hotel provides fresh cookies in the evening and the standard Holiday Inn Express breakfast. They noted IHG rewards status. Overall very pleasant stay and a hotel I would recommend.
