The breakfast hostess was extraordinarily gracious and hospitable.
Advice on where not to dine (Harbour House) was spot-on.

Danny is awesome. He recommended several places of local fare for dinner. We chose Bone Fire and it was great food and great atmosphere. Danny is overall very friendly and you can tell he loves people.

We have stayed at this location four times over the past three years and have. The service has always been polite, courteous, and professional from the front desk, to breakfast bar staff, to the cleaning staff. They practically bend over backwards and do handstands to accommodate any request you have, and seem to have elephant like memories if you stay there more than one or two times. We have observed that they have continued to make improvements to the facilities with each visit, and readily accept suggestions for future improvements. And the hotel is always kept CLEAN, which happens to be very important to me, as I happen to be very particular on that point. We would never even consider staying at another location when traveling through this area. This happens to be our favorite Holiday Inn Express of all the ones we have stayed in. Consider staying here, you will not be disappointed.

All of the staff members treat you like family; they truly care about your comfort while staying with them.The breakfast hostess goes out of her way to make sure you are well served; she even suggests places to visit in the area if you aren't sure how to spend your day. She is a wealth of information on the Abingdon/Bristol area.
The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. The maintenance crew takes great pride in the public areas of the hotel, inside and out, and are constantly working on maintaining the hotel's pristine and welcoming appearance.
The Barter Theatre and Holiday Inn Express offer a great theater and hotel package that is a very good deal if you are interested in seeing a wonderful play during your visit.

This place is exceptional! Great customer service, wonderful breakfast, CLEAN room and safe area. Couldn't ask for better. The front desk staff is friendly and very helpful and will go out of their way to help you! Stay here if you can!

We have stayed at several locations and this is by far the best one. The breakfast hostess is one of the nicest people we've ever met. She is so helpful, always offering to do more for you, and she remembers your name, where you are from and things about your family. She gets the day started with a smile. Also, the breakfast is very good ! A great place to stay!!!!

When we are traveling along the I 81 highway, we enjoy staying at the Abington, VA Holiday Inn Express. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and the bathrooms clean. The morning breakfast is hot and fresh with a great assistant who insures you have what you need.
Overall a great value and we have never been disappointed.

Unbelievable weather the day we were traveling. We were so stressed with driving, that we booked a room in Abingdon. We were able to cancel our reservations in Pigeon Forge, and they graceously credited our account. Wonderfull safe stay and breakfast in the morning. We love the "express" experience. We were on our way bright and early the next day!

We stayed here on the eve of a snow storm and the kitchen staff made sure we left with some extra snacks in case we were stuck in the snow. Upon returning three days later on our way home they all recognized us and greeted us as returning family. Great place to stay. Just down the street is a must dinner/lunch stop- The Wildflower Bakery and Cafe. Don't let the name fool you- it's a terrific dinner experience.

Don't agree with pet friendly policy. No pets on third floor. Who monitors this? I stay on the third floor and sure enough, dog on third floor. The last time I stayed (12-21-12) barking dog on first floor. Then a corgi came running in the cafe area. The host had to entice the dog with food to get it to the lobby. Corgi's are the worse shedding breeds of all breeds.

I was traveling for business from Reading, PA to Athens, Al and needed a quick stay over for one night due to length of drive. It was very windy and cold and snowing hard. With out reservations I pulled into Abington Holiday Inn location, because of it's convenience and because of Holiday Inns repetition. As always and true to Holiday Inns excellence, they had a room available. I was treated and greeted very nicely. I was given a very clean and comfortable room at a very fair price. After a excellent nights rests. I went down to check out and eat one of the greatest continental breakfasts I have ever had. The cinnamon rolls and gravy and biscuit or to die for! Anyway thanks Holiday Inn for another excellent stay. Hope to see you again soon.

This is the second stay in 2 months and we were so pleased. The staff was very accommodating in the selection of our room location.
The breakfast room staff was fantastic. There was one woman particularly, who went out of her way to be helpful. Unfortunately, I did not get her name. Several times, the desk staff was helpful with directions and suggestions.
The rooms were immaculate and the food service area was too.
We look forward to our next visit.

The highlight of our stay at the Abingdon Holiday Inn Express was Jane, the breakfast hostess. She does an excellent job keeping the buffet stocked and helping guests, but she goes the extra mile by welcoming all and providing them with information about the area. She has an uncanny talent for remembering returning guests and makes us feel very welcome. She is a tremendous asset to the Abingdon Holiday Inn Express; we look forward to seeing her when we visit.

The Holiday Inn Express in Abingdon is a really nice facility and very convenient to downtown and all the attractions. They have the most cordial staff I have see who went out of their way to ensure our stay was great.

This is a great place to stay overnight. The desk folks are very personable and the breakfast lady(Jane) is so down to earth and goes out of her way to make everyone feel like they are having breakfast at home. Keep up the great job.

just dont like this place. traffic always sounds like it is coming thru your room and the room we had I found out later had been converted from smoking to non smoking and the headboard smelled of smoke.

This property is clean, comfortable, and CONVENIENT for anyone wishing to stay overnight while attending a Barter Theatre production, which was the reason for my husband and I staying there. What impressed me MOST, however, was the proactive helpfulness and congeniality of the breakfast staff. I wish I had gotten the name of the lady attending to the continental breakfast. Not only did she closely monitor the availability and the temperature of the breakfast items, but she also was warm and engaging with the guests -- everything one would expect in terms of "southern hospitality." Overall, a very pleasant experience. We will definitely stay here again.

I love this holiday Inn express, it's located in perfect spot with the conviences surrounding the establishment. The clerks are friendly and courteous, the lady who prepare breakfast in the mornings are very nice. What a wonderful group you'll have working at this establishment.

Stayed at this Holiday Inn Express en route to Maryland. I had reserved a King room with a sofa sleeper. Upon check-in I was asked if I wanted to be "upgraded" to which I said yes. Though I'm not sure what I was expecting as an upgrade. What I got was kig room without the sofa sleeper - nothing else. But, overall the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Not quite up to other Holiday Inn Expresses I have stayed in or the adjacent property. Nothing fancy here but a nice place to stay.

This staff here was very helpful. I had been traveling for several days & had a horrible experience in another hotel chain. My husband had stayed here before and had a great experience, so I traveled on another hour just to be able to stay in Abingdon. The HI staff helped get a pet friendly room for me and gave us doggie treats.There is a special "doggie potty" area which was clean and easy to use. The staff made sure we were well taken care of. The room was so comfortable and we had a wonderful nights sleep. Thank you so much for making our trip more comfortable!

The overall hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The two issues that should be addressed is the horribly slow Wi-Fi speed (I couldn't send/receive emails) and the clerk standing by the door smoking. I do not want to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter the hotel. I understand Damascus is in the tobacco belt of America, but have a designated spot for the employees to smoke and limit smoking to breaks. This guy was by the door smoking all the time! I booked this room through our travel team and it advertises a workout center, but it is not onsite. They co-op with a local gym across the street. It was nice to have a fullsided gym to workout.
