Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome internet and a nice breakfast The woman in the breakfast area is very hospitable and could answer any question you have about the area (even where the speed traps are!). This was the best internet service I've used in any hotel I've stayed in for business (even some 5 star ones). The only complaint was the overly aggressive housekeeping manager. If the hotel is concerned about it's housekeeping service, send out a daily survey. I thought it was inappropriate to be disturbed on three occasions about whether or not I was satisfied with the housekeeping service. If I wasn't before, I would be now, with the annoyance. The one that was sorta in charge helped us locate a wrecker and he seemed to be the manager. The other young man was equally as kind and the three of us were comfortible while waiting for our ride to the dealership near by. June 1, 2014

Danny is simply outstanding and second to none in service.We were traveling south about 6 nights ago and stayed here and experienced the same service and friendliness. While traveling north to go home, Danny was again at the front desk. Holiday Inn Express is very fortunate to have Danny. The lady at the breakfast is also exceptional. So very friendly and helpful. It really makes a difference to be welcomed in this manner...sets the whole tone of the stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff The room was small and only had a chair for my wife and the other chair was for the desk, not that comfortable. A couch would have been better for 2 people. I was having a quick nap and was awakened. Thought my wife went for a shower by the noise I was hearing but it was the unit beside ours with the shower on. Same thing the following evening. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service... but.... Great staff and b'fast. Only issue I had was the mattresses. They seem to be pretty old and have a soft spot in the middle of the bed. Needless to say it was hard to get a good night's sleep on them so I was not up to perform "brain surgery" the next day! I hope they replace them if needed but yet again it could be that I just had bad luck and got a room with bad mattresses. January 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms for guests with pets When staying in pet friendly hotels , I always wondered if all the rooms potentially had had a pet in the room previously. This hotel in particular has rooms allocated for travelers with pets. When traveling with our mini schnauzer, I don't mind staying in a room where pets have been before, but when traveling without her, I want a Pet-free room. Based on this hotels policy to call ahead to confirm an allocated room is available, I would stay here again, with or without my pet. The room was extremely clean, no pet odors, and convenient to the side door to take her to a clean designated area for her business. They even provided god lighting and bags to clean up after her. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Care for the Environment We stay in Holiday Inn Express hotels often. They are overall very good--clean, comfortable, a good value. However, some make an attempt to be "Green," but they don't seem to really get the concept. It seems that many have signs about reusing towels--and this is very good--but they use Styrofoam plates, cups, etc. in the rooms and at breakfast. We are very environmentally conscious, and Styrofoam is AWFUL. They are terrible for the environment. Please use biodegradable #Paper!# products. Yes, they are a bit more expensive; but many of your customers care about such things and consider them work the effort. Also, use paper products #toilet paper, paper towels, etc.# made from recycled paper. We compliment you on using Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs--VERY good for the environment and cut down on energy costs. Also, besides Splenda/Equal/etc. you should have sugar free syrups and jellies. MANY people are diabetic, and they need these sugar-free products. Think of the environment and your customers #There are many of us!# that care about these things and that choose hotels that do. The room was clean and everything worked. My only comment on the negative side was the room temperature fan which kept going off and on during the night, but this seems to happen in every hotel room I stay in which has these fans. You'd think someone would invent a noiseless fan or another heating-cooling system. November 14, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good - except for one detail I travel for work and stay at least in 4 hotels per month, all over Virginia. I don't travel to Abingdon often, this was my second time ever. But it was also my second time at this hotel. I usually like the brand and try to stay there. The hotel was as good as I expected it to be, but I left very disappointed. This specific weekend, daylight saving time ended (November 4th). Because I was traveling for work and had somewhere I needed to be, I requested a wake-up call for 7am - I even mentioned the saving time ending and that this was why I was requesting it. On Sunday, November 5th, I was awaken at 6am by the wake-up call. I had a very full day ahead of me - working from 8:30am to 3:00pm and driving for 7 hours after that to get home. Being awaken 1 hour earlier did not make my day any better, and it made me very upset that I unnecessarily woke 1h earlier than I had to because of a mistake in a service that is offered at the hotel. Besides that I have no complains - but I will not be using the courtesy wake-up call service anymore. November 6, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprised in Abingdon Expecting mediocrity? Go by this hotel. The front desk was ready for us gave us the room reserved.. The breakfast offered a variety of food despite being challenged by a tour group who had decided to to sit in the dining area while waiting for their bus causing the other guests seating problems. Not the hotel's fault. Great hotel! October 26, 2013
