Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Too Much for so Little The hotel staff is wonderful, but the price per night is really high considering how much hotel has to offer. The hotel is older and the wear and tear that comes with age are evident around the building. The water pressure is very low in the showers . The Candlewood Suites next door is brand new and has a much better than this hotel. January 25, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn back home We stay at this HI when everyone comes back to "home" for a family gathering or event. The staff are always very welcoming and pleasant. The rooms are generally nice and clean. Our issue is that the walls and floors are paper thin with no sound insulation. We can hear neighbors snoring and if a large group is in, you can hear all the running, shouting, etc until everyone finally goes to sleep at night. We do feel the hotel is a bit overpriced in both rates and reward points for this reason. January 20, 2014

The hotel is very well kept and we will definitely stay there again on our next visit. Warm cookies were available in the afternoon and the breakfast was fine. I didn't expect a gourmet meals and was surprised how good the scrambled eggs were for a free breakfast. January 14, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dishonest staff Although the room and the overall hotel was nice, the experience was tainted by one incident. I accidentally left a drawer full of clothes including some really nice jeans.( My fail, i know). Upon realizing this the next morning I called and found that my items had been turned in EXCEPT the jeans. Although the person on staff was very helpful and mailed the remaining items (I paid shipping), there is definitely a thief working there who thought it was convenient to shop in someones luggage and benefit from my misfortune of forgetting some things. I will not stay at the particular location ever again. January 13, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Better room preparation for next guests I've stayed at this property approximately five times. On another occasion I had a similar experience where the bathroom wasn't thoroughly cleaned. During this visit the bathroom was also not clean, the bed had long hairs still on the sheets, The remote control for the television didn't work, there was an open bag of chips on the desk chair, there was no Kleenex in bathroom. Very disappointed. Now I've had two of five experiences where I really don't trust the cleanliness of the rooms. The front desk staff was very nice and apologetic when I reported my findings. The room was spacious and well kept, we had an abundance of pillows on each bed....BUT the beds were so hard it was difficult to get a real nights rest. All in all our stay was pleasant and maybe if they changed out the mattresses it would be a great place to break a trip or for a weekend get away. I would like to add that the staff was very pleasant and greeted us each time we came in or left out. December 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor maintenance and Poor attitude. I brought numerous issues to the attention of management upon leaving in the morning. At no time did I ask for a discount or a refund....nor was that my intent. I just did not want the next guest to have to deal with a broken shower head....a broken sink handle.....lights out in the bathroom. To provide this information and then have someone try to "defend" the issues....I WAS SHOCKED. I virtually live in hotels and over the last year I have been staying in more Courtyard Marriott's because they are more economical and always more "service" conscious. I will still stay in Holiday Inns that I know to be good....but I will never stay in this one again. Thanks for asking. November 29, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unfavorable Visit When checking in front desk personnel was most unpleasant. My priority profile requests upper floor away from elevator. When requested routine water given to priority members was informed there was none and there was no attempt to get any, other than happened to see a small bottle sitting on the counter that wasn't routine water given. Staff was too busy interrupting my check-in for others who walked in the door with no reservation than attempting to complete my check-in. I requested manager's name and number and was told staff could not give me that information. I then requested a business card for the manager and of course the card had the number on it. When contacted, the general manager apologized and then made nothing but excuses for all the problems. I at least expected a follow-up (stayed 2 days because the only other decrnt hotel in Alexandria is Hampton Inn and it was sold out as well), but never received any. I at least expected that perhaps they would have found some water and left it in the room, but no,,,, only call I received was from front desk after I found my room to let me know about breakfast. Staff did not tell me what direction room was, where fitness center was, etc. when I checked in. Then, once in the room there was trash in the trash can. Next day housekeeping did not pick up trash that had fallen on floor behind trash can (which I did not see until my return from work that day). Total unpleasant experience. I travel extensively for work. Plan to not stay at this hotel again. Beware!!!' November 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location but Consider this......... 1) Outlets in bathroom did not work 2) Water pressure was low and it took FOREVER to get hot water 3) All floors with vending machines were out of water and very low on snacks, went to front desk and they gave us water but charged us!!! 4) Bought a diet coke from the vending machine and it gave me a regular coke 5) Coffee grounds were in between cups and made a mess when we separated them. That shows that the cleaning staff did not even check/clean the area from the last time someone was in the room 6) Hot tub not working properly 7) A/C was not working in gym 8) A/C in room was not working properly 9) Room keys quit working November 20, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by My stay in Alexandria I've stayed at this property before because the location is convenient when I'm in the area on business. The room was too cold for me, I turned the heat up periodically during the evening and the room never got above 67 degrees. The temps outside were in the 50's during the night. I told the employee working the front desk that someone needed to check the heater in that room the next morning when I checked out and she didn't even respond to me. November 19, 2013

The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping is friendly and goes out of their way to make you fell welcome and at home. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very friendly staff comfortable stay in spacious room. all staff were very friendly and accomodating. brkfst variety was excellent. only negative was the loud conversations/noises in an adjacent room that awakened us at 2:30 a.m. we called front desk and they said they would check on it. assume that they did, as the noisy guests quietened down in about 30 min. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast bar offered many choices from a hot breakfast to something quick. They have a snack time in the evening with free snacks and drinks. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Keep Looking If you like cold showers and rooms that are falling apart then this is the place for you. I have stayed here several times and if you do not take your bath/shower before 7am forget hot water. The rooms are starting to fall apart. A disappointing stay for one of the most expensive places to stay in Alex. And be prepared to be stared down by the smokers and drinkers after dark when you walk from the parking lot to the lobby. I am a platinum elite IHG member and will only stay here as a last resort. August 13, 2013
