Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for a Night I stayed at this property for a night in September and am staying one more night again in October. It is nothing spectacular, but it fits the bill for just a quick one night stay. The check in process was easy and the staff directed me to shopping and food less than a mile away (the hotel is not next to anything, but one restaurant in another hotel). You do get a free appetizer at Longhorn Steakhouse by showing your room key so that was a nice perk for dinner. The best thing about this hotel was the breakfast in the morning. Probably one of the better free breakfasts I've had, enough to choose from and I took some coffee to go so that was great. The room and hotel is a bit older and could use some updating, but the beds were fine and the internet worked. I'd recommend for business travelers passing through. October 8, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Gave Away My Rewards Credits!!! The hotel was old but basically nice. What angered me is that I had reservations in MY NAME & PAID FOR THEM WITH MY CREDIT CARD and they changed my room to another persons and gave them the points I was to received...thus hurting my chances toward platinum status. When I tried to get it resolved they said there was nothing they could do.... well they sure had no trouble changing it in the first place. There are too many other hotels that offer reward points one being next door to this place. I will not be going back! September 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Nasty air conditioning, damp room Disappointing. The air conditioner in my room was blowing cool, moist, smelly air. Smelly and humid. I suspect it had been ignored for a long time and the coils hadn't been cleaned for years. The dining area was dark and poorly lit. The curtains in the dining area were dark. The bed was not as soft as I like, but I must admit that I am spoiled having used a water bed for several decades. T he whole facility was clean and well maintained. The staff was very supportive and courteous. One note, you must have your key programmed by the front desk before you can use the room safe. The quality and variety of breakfast was great. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by maintenance issues Though the staff was very friendly, room was clean, and the beds were comfortable, I would not recommend staying here. Now for the negatives - hairdryer quit working, some outlets didn't work, air conditioner was noisy and inadequate, toilet difficult to flush, vending machines not working, a few of the cable channels had a loud buzzing noise making it impossible to hear some programs, and our nonsmoking room smelled of smoke. We would have asked for another room, but we were only staying one night, so we just "lived" with it. September 4, 2013

I called the front desk because a light was out over the table in my room and no one came to replace the light. While the breakfast was good I was disappointed sausage wasn't available. I was told there is a schedule of when sausage is available. This is the second time sausage wasn’t available at this location during our stay. I have stayed in many Holiday Inn's where continental breakfast is severed and this is the only one I have been told this. Lastly, I am a long standing Priority Club Member and not being able to use my points at this location on the weekends makes me want to look elsewhere, where I can use my points. September 4, 2013

The woman who stocked breakfast on Monday morning was so nice! We asked for extra pillows our second night and were given 2 brand new ones to take back to our room. The room (one king)was large enough to set up a pack and play for our infant daughter and not get in the way at all. Room was spacious and clean! August 29, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Poor Presentation of Property My past experiences with Holiday Inn Hotels was great and enjoyed them. when I reached this hotel and went to park in the back, close to the entrance of our room, you could see windows with broken glass panes. As we walked up to our room, there was a blower blowing air (and constantly remained there for 2 days). Once windows was boarded up from inside, and one guest room was left opened with an electrical extension cord running from that room, going through another door (that remained partially open to allow the extension cord thru). On the night of our arrival, it looked like that the staff was being provided hands on training as they were being taught how to check us in. We were very disappointed with our stay (except the breakfast staff were very courtious and ensured that we had everything we needed.) August 26, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, property seemed tired We picked this location for a stopover on our Michigan vacation. The location was pretty attractive as it was very near The Henry Ford and Greenefield Village. Check in was smooth, but when we went around the building to the entrance at the back of the property where our room was located, two second floor windows were broken out with glass still in the bushes/mulch. When we went in, we found there had been a fire in those rooms (axe marks were still on the interior door). There were also fans in the hallway, presumably to help with the smoke smell. The smoke smell wasn't really noticeable at that point and we thought they'd done a good job cleaning it up quickly. The property overall seems kind of "tired". The hallways were very dark and very long, enough so my wife didn't really feel comfortable going down them alone to the front of the hotel. The fixtures were also mismatched in the bathroom, with some handles chrome and some brass/gold, sometimes even on the same fixture. The room was clean enough, but maintenance seemed to be "cobbled together" When we were checking out, we found the "fire" incident had happened several weeks earlier, according to the desk clerk. As a former firefighter, I could understand the open broken windows if it had happened the day before, but two weeks earlier seemed like a long time to leave that part of the property open to the elements. The location is convenient and there is a fair amount of shopping nearby. We also found some good restaurants close, but the property itself needs attention. It definitely wasn't up to the Holiday Inn standards. August 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Damp, musty hotel This hotel was horrible! Can not believe it is truly a holiday inn! I was appalled ! Drove into back parking lot to see broken windows left unattended and also another window boarded up. The broken window on 2nd floor was just wide open with shards of glass just hanging in the frame. That was first appearance! Yikes didn't know if there was fire, murder, suicide, burgerly, accident, etc... Asked maid on our way in, she said oh nothing! Really?? Hallways smelled horribly musty and halls and room felt damp. Room was very uncomfortable due to dampness and did not sleep well at all. That and still worrying if there was a previous fire or something that could happen again! Breakfast was ok!? Not a very good selection and was out of a lot of stuff. Had biscuits but no gravy. Never received a receipt on check in or before departing!? Was prepaid, but still expected a receipt under door or something! August 21, 2013

The pool was really great! The temperature was great for us and we were in the pool 3 to 4 hours daily. I would bring her back here again. August 18, 2013

This particular trip I was given a first floor room near the rear "smoking" door entry. It was a bit noisy as people were outside smoking and talking pasted 10pm. The hallways smelled of mildew, both the ice and soft drink machines we out of order, the parking lot badly needs to be re-paved, and the lady working the breakfast was trying hard, but apparently no had informed her of how many quests there were. We booked the room for two nights and were very happy with the staff and services had a good swim in a good pool and ate of the ample breakfast. The hotel was close to the henry ford museum, a large big box store area with a great choice of restaurants (and a free appetizer thanks to an offer on our key card- thank you very much) and was right off the I94 and within walking distance to the back of the giant tire!. The first night was great, the second... not so much. There was a fire in one of the rooms, probably electrical and most likely unavoidable and and of course an inconvenience... but stuff happens and the hotel staff was superb about it and made sure we were safe and had a room in an adjacent hotel lined up for us. Would we stay again? yes, it was a great room with all the amenities, it had very comfortable beds a nice atmosphere and we had a great nights sleep the first night. Was the fire a giant pain, sure, but it happens and I am sure it was way way worse for the poor manager and his staff trying to accommodate the guests while negotiate all that a fire entails. All in all we were very lucky, we had no damage, and I do not believe anyone was hurt as the fire was in an empty room. August 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Vacation We stayed here for three nites so we could visit "The Henry Ford". This Holiday Inn Express was nice & close, only 5 min drive. The breakfast was very good each day. lots of choices, hot & cold. our King Bed room was very nice. We really appreciated the Wi-Fi, and high speed internet connection. We had our lap top, Kindle, and smart phones working on the internet. Plenty of nice restaurants near by, and a huge shopping center with every store we needed. Also got a nice package deal with the tickets to The Henry Ford & Greenfield Village. August 3, 2013

We were in a non smoking room but did smell someone smoking close by and housekeeping never left the correct number of towels. Other than that location was great and safe. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service...Great Getaway! Even though we live only :20 minutes away, we use this hotel to "getaway" from it all:) They provide comfort and professionalism in service. We stayed in the exercise/jacuzzi/fireplace and one of the exercise machines did not work. Not only did they send the maintenance guy to fix it, they gave us a little bit of a discount for our troubles. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mechanicals and lighting need work. Our hotel room was very clean, ample towels etc. Breakfast was average for a HIE. It was also evident that they were doing some maintenance on floors in one area. However, the hvac units did not work properly, and some in the hallways actually produced heat on a 90+ degree day. The cable connection was poor. The other issue was the lighting in hallways and common areas. The crystal chandeliers do not provide adequate light. The breakfast area is as bright as a bar. The decor in the entire hotel needs some updating, although it is not in poor condition. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. I was recognized as a Awards guest. July 26, 2013
