It was the last weekend to spend with my daughter before heading back towards college to start her Sophomore year. I decided to contact the Holiday Inn Express suites in Allentown, Pa. In the past we would always come up to meet with some friends and go to Becky's Drive-inn, a popular mom and pop operation which plays first run movies. We arrived at the hotel around 5:30pm and was greeted with smiles by the check in staff. The gentleman asked me if was a IHG rewards member and I responded that I did not have time so he signed me up in no time at all. The rest of my stay was great except for the discrepancy in the bill at check out time the following day . We were able to work it out only because I had the original confirmation on my phone. That would have been a $20.00 difference otherwise!. I guess if there any issues during my stay I would have to say that it was the bill at checkout time. Thanks for a nice stay!

On my most recent trip, I stayed 2 nights for business at this hotel. The location is excellent; it's convenient for highways and is close to restaurants and dining options. It does fill up and get somewhat crowded in the summer season. When I first arrived, I had to wait for assistance while the front desk crew finished their cigarette break outside. I was given an unsuitable room (ground floor, next to the dining room, facing the highway) and requested a new one; to the staff's credit, they did accommodate the request. The rooms on the non-highway side are much quieter! The room cleanliness left something to be desired. I found lots of hairs and dirt in the bathroom and debris on the room carpet. However, my stay in July 2015 did have a cleaner room so I am hoping this was a one-off experience in August. The breakfast is nothing special, and the fitness center is minimal, though they do have a deal with the fitness center down the road for full guest access which is a great perk. The WiFi can be spotty, though I also suspect it's a function of having the hotel quite full of guests. Overall, it's a decent hotel for the price and provides adequate lodging and bare-bones amenities. However, serious business travelers may find it a bit disappointing.
