Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Start That Only Got Worse We arrived and checked in with no problem. To her credit, the desk clerk was very helpful. We checked in and went to our room and had been there for only a few minutes when my wife noticed lots of dog hair on one of the beds and its pillows. Looking closer, the entire side of the bed and floor next to it was covered in dog hair. I went back to the clerk and she switched us rooms with no problems. We then went to dinner. We had booked this room because our kids love to swim when we travel. We made the reservation by phone and the reservation clerk had told us the pool was working. It wasn't. I decided to go to the gym instead and discovered one of the two treadmills was inoperative, the exercise bike was also broken, and the elliptical machine made very abnormal sounds when I tried to use it. Luckily, the remaining treadmill worked and got a decent workout, but there was no water in the water cooler and the sign that said there was cold water in the refrigerator in the gym was clearly old, as the fridge was warm and empty. Next morning when we were leaving, we did the room check to make sure we had all our stuff and found a half full PowerAde bottle under one bed and an empty can under the other. We were not impressed. I tried to tell the hotel staff of our problems, but after waiting at the desk for 10 minutes with no clerk, decided to just leave instead. Would not recommend this inn. January 1, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room 318 - comments We found this facility to be in near new condition. Room was fine and staff interaction was excellent in all respects. Great breakfast served. About the only critical comment I can make is regarding the absence of overhead lighting in the room. While desk lamps are nice, overhead lighting should be a requirement in all units. If again in the Amarillo area we will book the same Holiday Inn Express. December 20, 2013

This hotel is easy on and off the road for our trips and the staff is always friendly. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Would recommend this hotel to anyone! December 5, 2013
