Hotel was under renovation, which we were not informed of when we booked, plus we were also told it should have been well finished, so this meant no bar area or breakfast room.
Breakfast in room was not enjoyable, and not relaxed, and no bar area meant no where to relax of an evening.

Although this hotel was quite a distance from our destination we chose it as "you know what you are going to get with a Holiday Inn Express" - a decent sized room, free breakfast with a good selection and a bar area where the group can chill out together. To our surprise none of these were available- due to the renovation a reduced breakfast selection was only available served in your room and there was no bar or reception area available - just a desk by the door with the receptionist perched on it. The room was the smallest I have ever experienced in an HI Express with the bed being the only place I could eat my breakfast. Of our group of three I was the lucky one who had a room renovated in the new corporate style - my friends said the decor in their rooms was from a much older HI style. If we had been made aware of the renovation and it's impact, either at the time of booking or nearer the day we would not have chosen this hotel, but once renovated I'm sure it will be fine and in a very central location (although be aware they are not standard sized HI Express rooms). We were told by the staff (who were very apologetic) that the renovation had been delayed and will not be completely finished until April at the earliest

We traveled with another couple from England and met up with French friends who also stayed at the hotel.
Having a popular restaurant next door was very handy.
