Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed The hotel is under construction which we didn't know until checking in. There should be a bolded header on the IHG website so customers can be aware of such things. My kids were really sad they could not go swimming. While most HIEs do not have great breakfast offerings, this hotel's offerings were horrible. Runny eggs, dry biscuits and gross bacon. To make things worse, the pancake machine was broken. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best weekend ever To put it simply, this hotel and staff were nothing short of amazing!!! The new remodel was beautiful. Thank you for making our stay PERFECT!!!!! :) June 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failed to be notified of major renovation My trust in HIE has been violated with this stay. We were not informed of the major renovations taking place during this time when I called to book a room. IImagine my surprise upon arrival to find concrete chunks, nails, plastic drop cloths, dust, and paint fumes everywhere--except in the rooms, which were beautiful--. Everything else was in a disarray...including the pool, which I asked about specifically during the booking. Now that I am aware that this situation could arise again, we are rethinking staying at HIE again in the future. May 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Under construction, great staff and great rooms! I arrived in Anaheim after a 6 hour drive and found the hotel thanks to the Holiday Inn sign out front and the construction since the hotel had warned me about the construction. I parked my car and they had signs that directed me to their Front Desk which was a table that would be moved later on to another easier to find location near the entrance. The staff was awesome! They were apologetic about the construction and you could tell they really wanted to help out with your stay. They provided my girlfriend and I with water and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies which were delicious. We were given our parking pass and one of the employees directed us to exactly how to get to our room. We headed up the elevator and arrived on the 4th floor and the ground was covered with plastic to protect it while construction was completed. Not a big deal at all to me. We entered the room and the room looked fantastic. There were hardwood floors, a good sized flatscreen tv, and a great big shower with a shower head and a hand-held shower head as well. Everything looked fantastic. The only thing that I thought was a little weird was the faucet, it is almost like the faucet is not long enough and should extend out more into the sink because it's hard to keep the water in the sink bowl. That too, is not a big deal though. After a long drive my girlfriend and I decided to take a nap before going out for the night to Downtown Disney, and the beds were by the far THE BEST beds I had ever slept on in a hotel and I almost prefer it to my bed at home. The next morning we were planning to wake up around 8 oclock to get a start in the morning and grab some breakfast and head to Disneyland. Unfortunately, we were awoken around 7 am all 3 days of the stay because of the construction. Why they decided to start working that early, I'm not sure, but I definitely think they could start at a more reasonable time like 8 or 9. But, I simply turned on the air to give a little white noise and placed a pillow over my head and got some more shut eye for another hour. Then we headed to breakfast and was surprised by the selection compared to other Holiday Inn's I had stayed at. I went with the super soft bagels, cereal, and cinnamon rolls, and juice. They also had eggs, bacon, yogurt, toast, muffins, and more that were all tasty as well. In reference to Disney, it is a very quick and safe walk, probably about a 10-15 minute walk and I consider it a great location to Disney. Overall I would recommend the hotel, it is a great looking hotel on the inside, the staff is great, and if you want to go to Disney this is a great location. I talked to the staff and they said there is about another month of construction to be done so around beginning of July, so after that you are staying at a beautiful Holiday Inn on the inside and out. The construction should not affect you if you are going to be out during the day as they were always finished by the time I arrived back to the hotel May 31, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by "Under Construction and Changing" Obviously there is ongoing construction, however, it won't be a Holiday Inn Express once construction is complete. New shower requires you to get blasted with ice water from in the shower pipes when you shift from the "wand" to the shower head....really is uncomfortable to get that ice shot. Can't recommend if it's not going to be a Holiday Inn Express as I don't know how much it will cost or what will be offered. April 24, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No Internet. This hotel property was under construction. I can forgive that. I travel in IHG properties a lot. I want to check in get settled no my work on line and have a good nights rest. The internet did not work. They were willing to credit me for 1 night but I chose to leave and pay for that night. they also offered to move me to the hotel property next store which was on the same internet system. When I inquires with that property about there internet 2 of there own guests were complaining to the hotel lobby attendant about the internet outage. I move to another property 1 mile away and everything was fine. The bed was very comfortable which matters. Although I don't care about this next point others might... the room décor didn't seem to go together but everything was new. The bathroom was clean and in good order but again not really the right décor flowing with the rest of the room.. The price in the Disney land area was really good but you began to understand why when you stayed there. Not having usable internet cant work. April 23, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Renovations a major issue. Sadly, I must recommend to others NOT to stay at this location until ALL renovations are COMPLETELY DONE!! The staff was professional, friendly and apologetic (I felt badly for them having to apologize all the time for their circumstances). This hotel should not be open right now. When I told them this upon my check out and requested a rate reduction due to the conditions, I did get one which I appreciated. At time of our stay, the construction was advertised on their website to end at 5pm. We timed our "rest" for that time but gave up and left at 5:45pm with the hammering still going on. Again, the staff was apologetic and said it "should stop soon." The rooms renovations are done and they are clean, but nothing else is. The hallways were a mess during our 2 night stay - dust and debris everywhere, the carpets were loose with no base boards. There was also the aroma of paint throughout the hotel. The A/C units are also not working well. The new rooms are not carpeted and I was told they won't be. Unless you are on the top floor you will hear your neighbors walking around above. Each door closing/slamming sounded like an earthquake, maybe because there is no carpet to help absorb the noise. Because of the floors we may not stay here again - they are simply uncomfortable. I don't understand putting laminate flooring in hotel rooms. Again, do not stay here until you are promised that all construction is done! April 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not clean terrible breakfast Room had dust everywhere . We found the toilet with red stains. Pajamas under the bed. Old coffee grinds in the coffee maker. Too many issues to list. The breakfast room was also dirty and not enough food. For milk there was a gallon that people would pass around. Not sanitary at all. Terrible stay. We have pictures of the filthy conditions. Spoke with manager on duty and nothing was resolved. We are really disappointed with the quality. This is not what we expect from a Holiday inn express. For the price that we paid we did not get any rest. I can send the pictures of dirt in our room, elevator, hallways, and garage. Our bathroom was missing the mirrors. Light switch did not have screws and the room smelled like paint. The hallway carpets had many ripples, the door stoppers where sticks. All of these items are not safe for children or people with disabilities. I would like a regional manager to contact us to see who is really in charge. Our keys were cards from the Ramada not even Holiday inn. Really bad experience at this hotel. April 2, 2013
