Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Its Under Construction I chose this hotel because of how close it was to Disneyland. No one mentioned to me that the hotel was having major construction. The rooms are done but the reception area and breakfast room were uncomfortable. The guest room is a whole different story. It was newly refinished which is great except for two major things. The grout on the sink wasn't sealed right and little black bugs would run off the sink into the crack everytime you tuwn the light on. The other thing is the room wasn't level. You could take a tennis ball and place it in the far corner. It would begin running towards the door as the room is on a slope. How could this be acceptable? I mentioned the problem to the front desk and they made a note. April 1, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service but facilities were disappointing When we arrived we thought to change the hotel because the aspect of facilities, besides the smell of paint at the room, however the kindness and service showed by all the staff members were the milestone for continuing in the hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and new rooms look great Although this location is undergoing a major remodel, I had a great stay here. The staff were welcoming and very concerned about making my visit a satisfying experience. I had a few noise issues. I was on the 4th floor and a window across from my room door was missing. This allowed pool noise from an adjoining hotel and early morning garbage pickups to be irritating. Most of the noise issues were from unthinking parents and their kids running down the halls and yelling before 7:30am and after 10:30pm. The wood flooring that was installed will be a problem for anyone not staying on the 4th floor. The new room decor is great and the bathroom is fantastic. I and other guests had problems with the elevator. It forgot which floors were requested when multiple selections were made. I stayed here because of the easy access to the Disney parks. You can walk easily, walk to the corner of Harbor & Katella and catch the ART or walk just west of the hotel to catch the ART. The route #2 ART that stops nearby is infrequent and runs twice an hour. If you walk to Harbor & Katella, you are likely to catch another bus every 12 minutes and the next stop is the transportation center at the parks. This hint was passed to me by an ART driver. Coming back on #2 is fine, but you have to wait until the last stop. March 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Customer Service! Even with the construction for the remodel going on, this was ran like 5 star hotel. Amazing staff took great care in making sure our stay was a good one. Will return again! March 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Comfortable After reading a few of the reviews regarding the construction that will continue until May, I had my concerns. I called the staff prior to our arrival to voice my concerns about safety and noise and was given the option of being re-booked at a neighboring Hotel and keep my priority points. I was assured that the rooms were all done, new, and clean. So, despite my concerns I decided to keep the reservations in favor of a clean room. I travel a lot. What matters to me is soft clean towels, comfy beds, cleanliness, and quiet. All that was apparent as soon as we checked in at 4pm. This was a weekend trip to Disneyland(only a 15 minute walk from hotel) and I figured that if construction was happening during the day while we were at Disney anyway, there would not be an issue. I'm not sure if the weekend was less noisy, but we did not care about the construction going on and noticed no objectionable noise from guests or anything from the 4th floor room. The only 2 minor issues we really had was the lack of parking for all the guest as a result of construction and the paint smell in the hall. So, my advice is pick a good parking spot when you check in, and walk everywhere when you are there if possible because at night, most or all parking will be taken. We booked the 2 queen beds with pullout that accommodates 6 people to maximize our costs. Although a little tight, our family managed fine. I can not emphasize how great the staff was. I appreciate great customer service when I see it and I realize the extra stress that these individuals go through on a daily basis to satisfy guests during the remodeling. Cheers to the staff for making our short stay great and I hope that they will continue when the new hotel is done. February 23, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service that's the ONLY Thing I will have to agree with a few of the other reviews, about the rooms, if you can sleep through ANYTHING this place just might be there for you, if you have even have the slightest trouble go somewhere else, the rooms have all been updated very nicely BUT they installed wooden type floors, guess what? you can hear every noise from suitcases, to kids, to walking around to EVERYTHING it echos from room to room, 1 elevator at front of property all rooms on back, pools closed due to the fact of the remodel to a Indago so it will look nice once its done but again hotels should be for relaxing and sleeping, not hearing every neighbor to your left and right, up above you, AC is not always working to stay on and cool your room, just like other reviews have stated, location to Garden Walk is just a very short walk, Downtown Disney about 25-30 brisk walk not to bad but you have to wait at crosswalks sometimes for awhile and pass a few buss stations where people beg you for money, Customer service they have a decent staff, 1 younger lady tries very hard a few others I believe have just about given up from all the complaints, the GM she is trying but I just don't believe this hotel will survive this process, So if Noise is your thing this is the place if quiet, comfort, relaxation is it choose another place February 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looking to Future My stay in Feb 2013 was during renovations. The staff contacted me well before my arrival time to let me know that they would be construction during the day and gave me the opportunity to change hotels. I chose to stay. The lobby and most of the grounds were under various degrees of renovations but the rooms were complete. The rooms were updated (I previously stayed at the same hotel in 2011) and have a modern upscale feel. Bedding and pillows were very comfortable. HVAC is now digital controlled which I like very much. Two minor complaints - the hardwood floors make sound travel - so I could hear a fair amount of movement from the floor above me. It wasn't unbearable but I imagine being very noisy if the occupants were a family with small children bouncing about. The second was the bathroom sink - upscale bowl and faucet looked very nice, but the water flow was very close to the bowl which caused water on the nice counters while brushing teeth and washing my face. Last but not least - the staff. The staff went above and beyond to mitigate any disruptions during the construction. I will definitely stay again and look forward to seeing the final product. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disapointed Was Disapointed. I booked a Holiday Inn express + When I got there I found it was being renovated, and converted to another brand. The Place was a mess, and dirty. the room was uncomforatable - didn't like the hardwood floor. There were Jack Hammers first thing in the morning. There was no indication upon booking, that this was going on. If there was I would have booked somewhere else. I used rewards for this stay, and for 25,000 Points I was a little upset, about what I got. I could have stayed somewhere much nicer for that price. January 21, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 PROPERTY CONDITION We were called ahead of time from the hotel that they were remodeling. Thank you for that. However the amount of work and disruption was big time January 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean Spacious Rooms Our recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Maingate, Anaheim was a great experience where we stayed for 5 nights. Though the property was undergoing renovations it did not interfere with our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was very spacious, clean with comfortable beds. The free breakfast provided great variety and the location was just a 15 minute walk to Disneyland Resort. Would definitely stay at this hotel again. October 23, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Excessive noise The control for the AC was not functioning. The AC went on and off on its own. The visual clarity for the TV was fuzzy, except for the Spanish Speaking Channels. Tremendous construction going on doing the day, very noisy, so was not able to rest or think in the room doing the day. Hardwood floors being installed, which is not good if you have a room below another room. We could hear the person walking around the room above us at 2:30 am. No fitness center at this location. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Near ACC and Disney Nice hotel near the Anaheim Convention Center and Disney. Actually walking distance. Friendly staff and pleasant check in and out. Room with small TV, Ref and study table. Small pool at the back with vending machine. There is a lift in the building. You can see the nightly fireworks of Disney at the hotel around 8PM. There are restaurants around 60 meters on the corner where they serve italian and chinese dishes on one side and California Pizza on the other corner of the hotel. The breakfast is good. Bacon, Eggs, Muffins, Pancakes, Bagels and Fruits were served. Kind of pricey though as there are other inns and hotels nearby. October 6, 2012
