We couldn't have been happier with the service during our stay! From the moment of check in the staff was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make you feel welcome! The room was excellent and the beds were incredibly comfy, I think I was out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow! Oh, and the pillows were awesome!!! I love big squishy pillows!

The reviews for various properties in the Ankeny area varied widely. I decided to play it safe and stay at the HI Express. The over night cost of was easily $60 above other properties, but the quality of the stay and property were what you expect from Holiday Inn properties.

Enjoyable stay, great accommodations.
Didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the hotel, but when we were there it was great. The spa was wonderful for relaxing after a busy day. Primarily used this hotel as a launch pad to visit friends we hadn't seen since last year.

This was the best experience at a Holiday Inn Express that have had. The room was clean, the place was nice, I was greeted with a wonderful smile from the young girl behind the counter that was friendly. The TV was a LG and the service was Direct TV.
Less Positive was the food selection or lack of information for the food. I can not eat gluten and their was only bananas, and apples for me. I was unsure if any of the other food had gluten.
Over all this was a great Stay, Thank you.

Excellent stay for all our out of town relatives. We booked the rooms for Iowa State Graduation Weekend.
One of our nieces did leave her Pillow Pet in the room and she was sad because no one turned it in.

Stayed with our 4 kids for a wedding and it worked out great. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful in getting us the right room for our family. Remodel is very nice. It would have been nice to have it completed before our stay and breakfast area was a bit disheveled but it was still good.

The room was clean and comfortable with extra plush bedding. The breakfast was great, and was well stocked. We also stayed the night before in Oklahoma City and were disappointed that this hotel charged about $30 more for the night than Oklahoma City did for an identical room. A bit pricey especially since it was under construction at the time.

I'm very particular when it comes to clean hotel rooms - our room was VERY clean! Spacious and comfortable. Bed was comfortable, with 'pillow options' (hard or soft)!!!
Facilities con- there was no hot water available for tea in the breakfast room, as well there was one 1 fruit option. There was no bathroom available downstairs/lobby area. And only 1 elevator. These issues maybe be due to the construction that was happening at the time.

As a Platinum IHG member and frequent traveler, I always stay at a Holiday Inn Expresses whenever I get the chance. This is by far the worst experience I have had. For one thing, they charge more than other Expresses I have stayed at, and yet their lobby, fitness center, and other public areas are being renovated (and smell like it). The renovation is one thing, but the TV in my room worked at a crawling speed, and the iron and hair dryer didn't work at all. I would recommend not staying here until they have the renovation finished and get their ducks in a row. I definitely wont be staying there anytime soon.

Holiday Inn rarely disappoints and this visit was no different however, I'm thankful I was able to get a king suite room as the overall size of the room was still a bit more cramped than I expected for just myself, husband and child. All in all though, check-in, services offered, cleanliness and overall stay were quite amenable and I would stay again. They were under renovations and I appreciated the call-ahead warning about this (though it maybe should have been a few days sooner in case I wanted to re-book). I'm also glad there is a pool and hot tub as it give kids something to do and I don't know why all hotels don't have them. I noted was breakfast did not include much fruit options - only bananas, which I thought was strange; and there is only one elevator which is slow running. Thanks!

Bailey is a excellent desk clerk and deserves a pay raise and promotion. All the staff was excellent and the Hotel is a very nice place.

There are 3 or 4 more Holiday Inns within 10-15 miles of this location. They all cost less and are nicer. They put in new beds. I sit on the side of one and only my toes touch the floor. I am 6 feet tall. I finish breakfast and ask where is the restroom before I check out and hit the road? None on the ground floor. Ride the elevator back up and walk to your room at the opposite end of the hotel. Be real careful turning the water off on the wash basin. You can pinch your hand in the new faucets very easily. The wonderful morning cinimon rolls I always enjoy- dried out and stale. All and all NOT a good experience.

As you may know the HIE in Ankeny is undergoing renovation. Our room 218 was unfinished with exposed plywood and we were not extended advance knowledge of the condition. The heating system was a real problem, I was awakened every time it operated. The staff checking in was friendly enough except when just dropping off my room keys. The manager was having an informal meeting and I had to wait for her to stop to just drop off my keys. Thanks Jon

I want to complaine about NOT having my 5:30 AM wake-up call on Friday morning! I was not able to wash my hair nor do my family business on my laptop because of my tardiness in getting ready for my 7:15 AM ride to my meeting. I also was not able to eat breakfast becase of the shortage of time. I did discuss this with the front desk as I was checking out Friday morning, but this was not her fault. Someone else did not do their job!!! :(

Overall, good experience, although the hotel was under remodel. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Wifi didn't seem to work, and parking was limited due to remodel equipment onsite. Had to park on the street. Water in shower and sink was tepid at best and staff stated it may be due to the remodel. Exercise bike worn out and seat didn't work right. No happy hour or evening amenities besides a cookie at the counter. Staff was friendly. I would stay here again after the remodel to see if some of the previously stated issues improve.

The property is very clean with comfortable rooms. The location was well sought out, but poorly planned. For the size of the hotel and maximum occupancy rate, the amount of parking places available was extremely limited. I would go to guess that if the hotel was half full, it still wouldn't be able to handle parking requirements for its' guest. This frustration is multiplied when you are talking about bad weather, and a trek is needed to get from your parking spot to the front doors. Solve this and you have yourself a well rated hotel.

I got the last available room when a blizzard was coming through the state. Jen was so nice and great to work with, the hotel was clean and warm, and I got to stay in one of the newly remodeled rooms, which was very nice. Most of the time when staying in hotels I hear random noises from other rooms (doors closing, toilets flushing, water running) I didn't hear anything the night I stayed at the Express. I walked over to the restaurant next door for dinner, so I didn't have to move my car again! When I got back to the room I realized I didn't have a toothbrush, and Jen happily brought one up to my room for me! Thank you for the great customer service!

The hotel is in the process of being remodeled and we stayed in one of the newly remodeled rooms.
The rooms and new furniture are really nice, but the hallway colors were horrible. Didn't match the rest of the décor of the remodel.
The staff were wonderful and would definitely stay here again.

Hayley made us feel so welcome as Priority Club members even though we came in with no advanced reservation this time. She explained the status of the remodeling project and assured us we should not be disturbed by the assembling of new furniture for the guest rooms. She was also able to upgrade our room, and we so enjoyed the jacuzzi! Anel is the best housekeeper ever! I forgot an item of value, and she had it turned in to the office almost before we were down the road any distance. I will be eternally grateful to her for her honesty! I hope I will be back to this hotel sometime in the future to thank her in person.

Being Platinum Elite members we are usually given waters & snacks of some sort but this hotel does nothing. It was very clean but otherwise just average. Might consider a competitor next time we are in the area, there are many IHG hotels in the area that are better. Before booking they should tell you that they are remodeling & the pool is closed, we didn't care but families with children might.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I was in Ankeny with my boyfriend for my best friend's wedding. If it wasn't for Jennifer (who I believe is the Manager of the Hotel) I would not have made the wedding in time.
I called the cab company in town and gave them a two hour notice for a pick-up.Two hours and twenty minutes later and several calls to the cab company (by hotel staff) - NO CAB - just the "the cab is on its way." It came to the point where we only had 20 minutes before the wedding started. This was when Jennifer volunteered to drive us to the wedding in her own car. I could not have been more surprise and grateful for her generosity.
