Apparently this location could not handle full occupancy, and regularly ran out of towels and food for breakfast. The staff was not much help and made random excuses that didn't even make sense or were flat out lies. I had to wait five hours for towels. I was told their were in the dryer.
I love staying at the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, but I will definitely avoid Ashland, VA in the future.

The hotel staff were fantastic. They checked me into a very quiet room after an exhausting drive and made sure that I had snacks for the morning as I knew I would sleep through HIE amazing breakfast. HIE is always my first choice in accommodations and this location was especially great.

Unable to sleep in room due to odors coming in from hallway and making people sick. Left in middle of night.as we could not sleep with the fumes even after blocking a towel under the door.

Everything fine except breakfast which was inadequate. Very little choice and not much of it.. Otherwise, it is a very nice Inn. Helpful, pleasant staff.

This Hotel appeared to be new, it was the first time that I stayed there. The Satellite TV was the best I have seen, the channel line-up was the same at home so I did not have to search channel by channel, the HDTV was not brain dead like the other TV's in the other Hotels, when you changed channels it was an instant picture and not have to wait a few seconds. Connecting to the Wireless for the Laptop was very easy, nice solid connection. This hotels location is noted in my logbook, just far enough that you do not hear traffic on the I-95 corridor. I will stay there again when I am back in the Richmond Virginia area.

I stopped about an hour before getting to Ashland to get fuel and check the Holiday Inn prices that was near the gas station. It was $113 plus taxes, so I decided to drive a bit further. I am glad I did, because Ashland was only $85 nightly plus taxes. Breakfast was decent and room was comfortable. Kids slept late; I had to wake them for breakfast. We stopped at same location on way home! Staff was great as well!

When i am in need of a place to stay outside Richmond, i wouldn't consider anywhere else.. It is so comfortable and fresh.. Always, everytime.. Never a doubt and the desk clerks are so great , friendly and helpful.. Trust me.. I am terrible "picky" and this is a great compliment.. A great place to stay.. not fancy, but, just what you need. A happy place to stay!

started to set my computer up on desk and desk lamp would not come on because there was no bulb in lamp. this should have been checked before room was ready to occupy. stayed in holiday inn express in wolfeboro sc on way north . Found in middle of night room had no hot water. seriously consider another chain next trip

Great hotel and location. Pillows were unconfortable. Would have liked to have larger pillows for king size bed. Other than pillows, we enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff. Will stay again.

Reservations have always been correct and room ready upon
arrival. Property has been well manicured and clean. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Have stayed at this location many times the past two years, and plan on seeing more of you in the next. I travel at least forty eight weeks a year, and have seen the inside of many a hotel. This location is top notch and never a burden to come to

I have stayed at this property a number of times over the last two years, since my daughter started attenting Randolph-Macon College. I have always found the location, facilities, and staff to be top notch. However, on this occasion when I checked in at 11:00pm on 24 November the young female manager was not very accommodating. I identified myself as a frequent quest and a priority club member then asked for my standard rate. She quoted me a higher rate. Her explanation for the higher rate was because I was getting a room with two double beds. I completed my check-in and thanked her. In the morning I spoke with a different manager, who treated me like a valued quest and offered me my standard rate. The rate difference was $10 and not the reason for my concern. The young female manager was questioning my integrity when her integrity should be in question. I had stayed there before and had the receipts to prove it. Other than check-in, another great stay at the Holiday Inn.

All in all it was wonderful. Room was (queen suite) was spacious. If I we had to dislike anything, it would have been too much furniture in the room. Staff was great for check in to check out. Breakfast had a good variety and was quite tasty. Although there was no resturant in the hotel itself. there was an ample selection. The desk clerk recommended a pizza shop just a short distance away,and being from New York, thought it was very good. Definately on the stay again list.

I was so unhappy with my recent stay. I reserved and paid in advance for a 2 queen bed suite (2 queen beds/pull out sofa/2 TV's) because I needed the extra room with 3 kids,10 yrs and under. We checked in late due to traveling for 13 hrs. We were given our key cards only to find that the room we were assigned was a 2 queen bed standard... NO PULL OUT SOFA... 1 TV... NO ADDITIONAL SPACE FOR MY KIDS! When I called the front desk, I was told that the soccer team that arrived earlier had the same rooms, and that the only suite left had a leaking toilet, so we needed to be moved. That's all well and good, but no one bothered to mention it to us. It's like they were hoping we wouldn't notice. My 3 yr-old daughter kicked and rolled into me ALL night, and I got no sleep. In addition, I heard high powered toilets flushing all night too. When I voiced my concerns to the manager during check out, I was fed multiple excuses, including "We had to move other guests around too. These things happen." I was given a very small credit to my bill, but not even close to what we deserved. WORST STAY EVER!

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything and person was very nice. We try to stay at Holiday Inn Express on our travels. Love having the breakfast inclued and a nice choice plus it is always nice to be able to go back to our room and freshen up again before checking out. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Also enjoy having it close to eating places for the eveing meal. Especially when they are in walking distance.

Staff was friendly and professional. They asked if I was a Priority Club Member and I answered yes; however, no benefit for being a member outside of logging my points. I love staying at this hotel it is one of the best in the area and very close to the R-MC campus.

We are regular HIE guests. The feeling we are left with has mostly to do with the staff since everything else is pretty much the same. The staff was superb. it was late, we had no reservation and our reception sure did make the long drive we'd just experienced float away.

The employees were all wonderful - from front desk clerk to cleaning staff. Beds and pillows were the most convertible I've have in a hotel in a while. Continental breakfast had plenty to choose from.
