Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Old Fashioned Our room looked like it had not been updated since 1980 with exception to the TV, which was a flat screen. Regardless of their claim to fame for cinnamon rolls, this location was out! How can they do that? The rolls are a big reason why we stay there. Will never stop at this location again. April 9, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Like being at home! We arrived very late from 3 traffic backups on the way from FL to MI and the HIE was a welcome site. The staff was waiting for us (it seemed) and were very helpful getting us into our room very quickly. Although I do not remember much of the night, I do remember the wonderful choices of breakfast which was served till 10:00AM. That was very warm welcome and helped us recharged well enough you get us on the road with real hope of getting home that day. We did. Thanks to everyone. April 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Extended Business Stay The staff was the best staff I have had the pleasure of dealing with in quite sometime. They were very helpful and informative with local things to do when my business trip allowed for some personal time. I did have problems with the wireless internet connection but they provided me with a CAT 5 cable so I was able to use the internet in my room. I did have a problem with ants in the room but they came through and took care of that immediately and then followed out a couple of times over the next few days and even a week or so later. I did not get to use the pool and the hot tub was not working during my entire stay. The hot tub would have been nice to relax in after my long days but I made it through without it. The TV service was horrible, on the few occasions when I was able to watch TV I either had no service or the service was spotty. I know they said it was due to the weather and the satellite dish but it was an issue even on sunny days. Breakfast was great when I was able to enjoy it, my work schedule did not allow for me wait until breakfast started. Overall the stay was great and if I'm ever back in Athens, I wil be sure to stay there. April 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stopover from Florida Nice, clean, well-kept hotel, convemiently located too, though some cost-cutting was in evidence. Will likely stop here again, but hope they don't cut any further. To quote the lady in the breakfast area "We don't serve any meat on weekends", i.e. bacon, sausage, etc. with breakfast, which is a downturn from past practice. Also, despite being Priority Club members for many years this wasn't acknowledged, which is also a change. March 12, 2013

I was just passing through from Pigeon Forge returning to New Orleans, but would not have minded to stay at such a place for a few nights, of course at more of a destination. Staff was nice. Breakfast as every Holiday Inn Express was basic and was picked up very quickly, probably regular time around 9:30AM. February 24, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very Poor Internet Access The Athens HI Express' internet service is very poor. In relation to other HI Express hotels I've stayed their internet is the worst of all of them. In this day and age a client should be able to easily download podcasts and other web data from their room. You cannot do that here. You can't even stream audio without it stalling or stopping. Best you can do is check email, but you could do that from your cell phone. If your business travel relies on good internet in your hotel room you should avoid this property. I am very surprised that something this simple could be overlooked in this day and age. February 12, 2013
