This was a great stay! The property is undergoing a huge renovation yet my stay was not hindered at all. The staff does a wonderful job at the property taking care of their guests! Don't forget to try some cookies!

It's been a few years since I've stayed at this location and I'm sorry to say it has gone downhill. They are doing renovations and the inconvenience was not minor. Smoldering roofing tar equipment was left to smell up the room all day.
The breakfast was only fair and the milk was outdated 2 days in a row.

The hotel and facilities are undergoing a remodel but still remain presentable and satisfactory. The rooms and amenities are nice and good for a business traveler in need of a safe and consistent place to stay. However, the last few times that I have stayed I have come to rely less and less on the staff to assist in any issues. On three such occasions I have brought the malfunction of fitness equipment and devices in the room and received no follow-up and no correction before my departure. Although the staff would listen and express interest in your concern, there was no follow through at all. If you are OK with going it alone and fixing problems yourself, this is a perfectly good place to rest your head.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Worst Hotel Ever Stayed In - STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY
We always stay at Holiday Inn Express Hotels - THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE DEMOLISHED - it was absolutely awful. Yes I complained and yes I was compted for the night - but that is not the point. Our stay was terrible.
I will continue to stay at HIE facilities but I will make sure that there are no more surprises.

My family and I were in a Family Party with 17 people that started at December 26th and finished at January 12th. We travelled to LA -Vegas- SF-LA . We had decided to have a stop over from Vegas to SF and choosen Bakesfield for this porpose since it was in the middle of way and stayed at Holiday In Express.
It was the best.
The hotel is NEW.
The room and all amenities were wonderfull.
Nice room, nice bed and furnitures. The bathroom was complete.
The breakfast was well served with omelet, bagels, rolls and assort of beverages.
I wish I would stay more in this hotel. This will be de reference for new trips and a place to stay every time I get beck there. I do recommend.

I am a frequent traveler, and ALWAYS use Holiday inn express as a first pick on travel due to convenience. This stay was my worst experience ever. First I came in late from being on the road all day and was exhausted. The receptionist didn't give me instructions on how to get to my room. From experience I knew it was on the second floor but had to guess my way to the elevator. Finally laid down and the all I could hear was the running toilet. I thought maybe it was still filling up since I had just used it, but it kept on for 20 minutes. I finally had to get up and close the bathroom door. Then I could hear a loud TV in the hallway. I thought maybe another guest up late, and I tried to ignore it. Finally around midnight I came out side my room to see where it was coming from and could hear it from the lobby.I realized it was the Lobby TV that was echoing through the hallways. I finally called the front desk and asked the lady to turn it off. She did turn it down, but not off. Which was an improvement. However I did not get an I'm sorry, instead I got a "OOH you can hear it? and can you hear it now?" Finally was able to fall asleep closer to 1 am. When the morning came and I took a shower the towels where rough as if they did not use any softener. Very uncomfortable and not like Holiday inn. The next morning I started my day off late due to the lack of sleep, and wasn't even able to accomplish what I intended in Bakersfield because of my lack of energy . Breakfast did not hav the full offering's like EVERY other Holiday inn I have every stayed at. Very disappointed in this stay, the lady at the front desk has not been trained in customer service. Her attitude and lack of attention could of easily turned this into a more pleasurable stay however she only made it worst.

My only problem with the hotel was that the gentleman manning the desk when I checked in told me my room number out loud--there was a man in the lobby. I travel by myself a lot and prefer not to have the room number mentioned out loud because you just have to consider safety from all aspects. Otherwise the room was nice and the workout room was ok (although I believe it was probably going to move as I was visiting during a remodel).

We traveled down on Sunday to have dinner with some friends. We were able to make reservations that day. When we arrived, everything was in order and check in was painless. My wife really was impressed with the aroma of the lobby. We received complementary water and cookies upon heading to our room after dinner. I would suggest this location highly. Best room for the price in my opinion. Thank you Hughes Lane Bakersfield Holiday Inn Express!

This hotel should not be allowed to call itself a Holiday Inn Express until all renovations have been made. Its trying to be a HIE on the cheap. Its obvious that it used to be a different hotel, very old. Our room was supposed to non-smoking, but you could tell that it used to a smoking room. Wallpaper bubbled and peeling, old carpet. Breakfast...stale biscuits, bread, muffins; canned orange juice; no meat. Coffee was good. Hotel was not in a good area of town. Price was reasonable and was cheaper than the other HIE listed on the web. the recognition for priority club members was a bottle of water!

Great staff and spacious rooms! I like the large truck parking. It safe and off the street. I stay here frequently and am always treating very well. Rooms are clean and comfortable. While the dinner food choices are great if walking, it still is a good place to stay.
