Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn -HUGHES property This is a very great hotel, one of the best Holiday Inn that I have stayed in. Website indicated the hotel is in the process of being renovated and I was expecting to a see a messy hotel. However, when I checked in, I was impressed with the lobby and my room. When I travel I usually stay in Holiday Inns, and I noticed this hotel rates were more reasonable than the other Holiday Inns' in Bakersfield. Others were $20-40 more. Great price, Attentive staff at the front desk (Michelle referred me to an amazing Italian Restaurant ..think it was named Urichos!! and she even made time to print me out a map so I wont get lost)! Definately I will be staying at this hotel on my next visit to Bakersfield! November 6, 2013

The new lobby/breakfast area is very nice now that it is finished. My room was clean, A/C worked like a charm as well. I will continue to stay here in the future. October 19, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't expect to sleep They are in the process of renovating the whole hotel, the finishes and appearance looks great but they really skimped on the necessary details. There is a set of train tracks less than 500 feet from the hotel, and with all the money they are putting toward renovating they were too cheap to put in double-pane windows. I was woken by the train several times throughout the night, more than I ever have woken up in a single night. Which is especially difficult, considering I even lived with an apartment backed up to train tracks all through college. Quite simply, the sleeping experience was the single worst I have ever had in a hotel and ultimately a place to sleep is what you are paying for. I won't stay at this hotel again and debating if I will stay at any Holiday Inn Express again after this experience. October 5, 2013

Fast check in, wonderful buffet breakfast served in the morning, and smooth check out process. Construction was in process during my stay, however,the front desk staff did inform me about the renovation. Front Desk staff were very attentive and they got me a quite, remodeled room. The new upgraded rooms are gorgeous. September 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Remodeling woes We were told the re were renovations going on in the motel. However, the floor we were assigned was completed. I went in to take a bath, and the stopper didn't fit the drain. In fAct, it fell apart when we tried to take it back out. The only thing that the desk could offer was the same stopper. I asked the clerk to be sure to inform the renovators that this was not the right stopper for the bathtub. Having arthritis, I look forward to the pain relief that a warm bath gives me. We stuffed a washcloth into the drain and I held my foot on it so the tub could hold water. The door also didn't fit the frame. The dead bolt wouldn't latch completely, and there was a significant space on the latch side of the door. The light from the hallway shown in at night. We were also disappointed that there weren't any vending machines on our floor. September 25, 2013

A few things that are important to point out are that it was much more expensive than it is worth, the bath tub ran the whole time, and the maids came in my room when I had a do not disturb sign up. I also asked the front desk to come fix the leak in the bath tub and they never did. The quality of the hotel was not worth the price I paid. I am disappointed in my over all stay. Not one of the maids or service people spoke English either. August 11, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gr8 Hotel in Not-So-Gr8 Area As published by me on Trip Advisor: I was pleasantly surprised by the modern, clean lobby and it just kept getting better! The front desk clerk handed me water & snack bar while checking-in and they were very helpful with restaurant locations and a map. My room was as requested in my profile, top floor and end of hall away from elevator,etc. The room was very large, totally remodeled and cool on the 105 degree afternoon. Wifi was strong and breakfast had eggs and assorted breads, pastry, cereals, yogurt, fruit, etc. It had the best rate in the area and don't let the neighborhood discourage you. The parking was secure and I felt very safe in the property with a cordial and efficient staff. August 1, 2013

THIS HOTEL IS SO CLEAN AND HAVE AN EXCELLENT SERVICE (BUT NOT SOME GIRL WHO ANSWER THE PHONE WHEN I DID MY RESERVATION SHE WAS VERY RUDE) THE GUY WHO WAS AT THE DESK WEN WE SIGN IN WAS REALLY NICE AND HELPFULL, THE ROOM WAS SO CLEAN AND THE JACUZI REALLY NICE. ME AND MY WIFE HAD A WONDERFULL NIGHT CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN AND AGAIN SO MANY TIME I COULD GET AWAY WITH MY WIFE AND SPEND SOME QUALITY TIME. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING....OH AND THEY WORKING ON RENOVATION AND EVERYTHIN IS BETTER, JUST ONE THING: KEEP THE ROOM WITH JACUZI PLEASE!! July 29, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet It was a hot night when we checked in and there was a large glass container of ice water on a table to greet us. A perfect way to greet weary travelers. As Rewards Club members at check in we received water bottles and nutrition bars to take to our room. Even though the hotel is undergoing construction, it was clean and quiet. After a good night's sleep we went down for the breakfast which was adequate. During our stay the staff was friendly and professional. July 3, 2013

Even though there was renovations underway, this hotel offered most of the amenities for family vacation. I was very pleased with my stay and I will choose this hotel from now on when staying over in town. They are remodeling so I had to register through the back of building, but even that wasn't a problem. It was well lighted and the staff was great. Lots of luggage carts. My room was clean, pleasant smelling, the linens were clean and no 'visitors' under the mattress. Plenty of towels. They had even turned the cooling and light on for me! (important to a woman traveler) There was a minifridge, microwave and coffee. I would recommend this hotel to families or solo travelers. April 28, 2013

Only thing that was Poor, was that we ordered the Lovers Package, but when we arrived they didn't have any in stock, however, we were credited $30 to bill, and given a free bottle of Apple Cider, tho we had no way of opening it. The hot tub is Very Large and Comfortable, i would definitely Recommend it!! April 4, 2013

Everyone on the hotel's staff was helpful and friendly both to our group as as a whole, and to each of us as individuals... They "bent over backwards" to meet our needs from a complicated check-in process, to attentive care of every detail during our stay the entire three days we were there... March 3, 2013
