Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet, comfortable bed, excellent location The Holiday Inn Banbury lived up to our expectations in all things with the exception of the service at the Reception Desk. No-one on the desk at check-in and no-one available on the desk during the breakfast period. When staff eventually arrived they were very polite, helpful and efficient. In all other respects a very respectable hotel. November 6, 2014

The dinner menu could include a little more variety if one is staying for a few nights, but the food on offer was good value. We had a dog with us which was no problem at all. Breakfast was good, hot food available and being able to serve yourself proved useful so we didn't need to wait for anything to be served, therefore our time was easy to plan. October 23, 2014

The room had everything we needed for a comfortable nights sleep and although limited choice for breakfast it had everything we needed. Internet in the room was patchy and slow but we managed to send and receive emails.All in all a great stay! October 22, 2014

We enjoyed a hot meal from the bar snacks on offer, which saved us venturing out to the pub or Frankie and Benny's restaurant nearby. Apart from an inconsiderate fellow-guest banging a door (twice) before 6 am, the quality of sleep was excellent. The breakfast fortified us for our onward journey northwards on the M40. Spotlessly clean and good breakfast/evening drinks service. We were invited to help ourselves to glasses of milk for our children which i thought was a really friendly touch. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Clean/Reliable/Staff Average We used this hotel to cover 70 or so gurests to our wedding. Check in seemed smooth and the rooms were all absolutely fine. The bar was open late, which was also quite nice, as we could catch up together in communcal areas. Breakfast was as expected froma hotel like this and everything was clean. Front of house staff were very helpful, but totally let down by an unpleasent experience on checking in where a member of staff was quite rude and loud in regards to one of our wedding party. This was unfortunately as the brides were checking in also, so was not a great situation. October 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, shame about the breakfast. Really pleased with the room, which was clean, tidy and modern. It was a shame there was so much noise from the corridor. The breakfast was 50/50, the hot choices of sausages and beans were lovely but the scrambled egg was rubbery and tasteless. There was a good range of cereals, and the portions were generous. The croissants were a tad overdone and hence, a bit tasteless. I've have no hesitation in staying again but would probably go elsewhere for breakfast. September 30, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Convenient hotel I booked 6 rooms for party guests and the beds were of varying comfort; some hard and others soft! Staff were helpful as they made up the put you up bed for my daughter as her husband is 6ft 8in and they could not fit into a standard bed. Disappointed that the beds were not king size so in future would book a twin. Good that the hotel is open 24 hours as arrived back therE at 2am after spending three hours in Horton A&E!! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by lack of any service at breakfast !! the restaurant was a complete shambles for breakfast. we were told that they were not allowed to serve bacon for breakfast !! could you explain why this is ? eggs over cooked .food not all ready at same time..lack of heating in rooms and no heating in tables laid up in restaurant and extremely unhelpfull retaurant staff.. Very good location , right on motorway Junc. and 15min walk into Banbury, clean and comfortable. The Wi-Fi is a boon even if a little slow at times, and the breakfast more than adequate to set you up for the day August 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hit and Miss The whole experience was somewhat varied. From the start, David was extremely helpful, accommodating and warm. He made the whole booking process painless which is exactly what anyone wants when looking at hotels. He also went one step further and organised my membership card to be reissued to me even though I hadn't requested it. Upon arrival, the receptionist (sorry, I didn't get her name) was also warm and friendly. While the room wasn't ready (this was expected as it was before the 2pm check-in time) she helped point me in the right direction when I asked for some restaurant recommendations. When we eventually got our room, we were given a triple room as requested but the room had been set up for only 2 people. I asked the front desk to rectify this and we agreed this would be done when we were out for the evening... which it was. Up until now, the service was exactly at the expected level. Unfortunately, it all fell apart at the point of check out. The receptionist (Shana maybe?) was about to charge me a higher price than what was confirmed to me. She refused to believe that I was offered the price I was claiming... in fact she refused to really engage with me until I was able to show her proof of my confirmation, which I did. It was her coldness and inability to show any warmth whatsoever that frustrated me. But what was worse, is that once I had proven I wasn't lying, she then started blaming David for not adding any notes etc to the reservation. While this may be the case, I understand these notes can sometimes be missed. What I think is unprofessional is not engaging with the guest and making one feel like a small creature, but also to blame your colleagues in front of the guest. Mistakes happen... take responsibility and move on. It's a shame a perfectly carefree weekend had to finish this way. August 21, 2014

Unfortunately, when we arrived the room we were allocated was horribly smelling of smoke. Due to the lateness (11.30pm), we decided not to ask for a change of room. However, upon telling the receptionist in the morning, she said she would inform housekeeping, and did apologise. August 21, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not a great bed The hotel was great having sky in the room was a very pleasant surprise the only issue was when I booked I asked for a king size bed and did ask the question "it's not too beds strapped together is it?" And was told it wasn't when we arrived it was very late after visiting family in Wales then making the three and half hour journey to the hotel we were very disappointed to discover that there was no king size bed and that it was too bed strapped together as it was so late when we checked in we just tried to make the best of it and get some sleep which wasn't a lot. The guy on reception in the morning was very helpful and we asked if we could just have an extra duvet on the bed to try and pad it out so the gap wasn't so noticeable as when the bed was made and you lay on it you couldn't feel the gap so much . Apart from the bed issue the hotel was friendly very clean in a great location with a Franky & Bennys and a Toby cavery across the car park I would recommend and stay again just not request a bigger bed next time .
