Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by En route stay. We were looking for a place to stay midway to our final destination. Since we were not familiar with the area, we asked an employee at a restaurant we were eating at for recommendations. Our criteria was a reasonably priced facility that was nice and safe. Based on their own personal experience they recommended the Holiday Inn Express. We called and they were flexible with price based on the discounts available. We stayed and were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Our vacation consisted mainly of 4 and 5 star upscale hotels. The upscale hotels were very nice. However, the Holiday Inn Express rooms we had were much more spacious. The beds at the Holiday Inn's bedding may not be as plush, but what the Holiday Inn had were very nice and the mattresses and pillows were equal. All in all, when we compared the prices vs. the quality, we are more inclined to stay at a Holiday Inn Express in the future. The one thing they could improve on is their breakfast. Again, for the cost, the breakfast was nice. They have a pancake machine that makes them as you wait, like a minute. They had bagels, yogurt, donuts, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, hot cinnamon rolls, bananas and apples, a toaster, juices, coffee, tea, milk and dry cereals, and oatmeal. What I didn't like was the scrambled eggs were processed and weren't very good, neither were the biscuits and gravy. I prefer a fresh cooked hot meal not a processed one. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast service The woman who attended to the breakfast service was exceptionally kind and efficient. The breakfast area was always clean and well-stocked. The tables were cleared and cleaned without delay. She not only tended the breakfast bar in an outstanding manner, she attended to us with courtesy and cheerfulness. She is a real keeper. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room smelled like rotting fish Got the last available room for the night. Walked in instantly could smell something foul, tried to call front desk, no answer. Sprayed some febreeze and knew there weren't any other rooms. Put stuff in fridge, and some point during the night the fridge shut off and none of the lights would work in the morning. I tried to speak to the woman at the front desk, but she asked if I received the bill and said ok, have a good day. Extremely disappointed in the room, service and quality of this hotel. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 musty smell and load fridge. The bathroom had a musty smell and the fridge was loud when we tried to sleep. Everyone was friendly and the breakfast was good. Other than the smell the room was clean but I wish the A/C would have had a option the leave the fan on while the a/c was not running. July 13, 2014
