This is the best HI Express I have stayed in anywhere in the world. It has the amenties and service of an HI or a Crowne Plaza. Great location for entertainment (Soho) and airport commute.

I arrived earlier than the usual check-in time. The staff at the reception was very friendly and accommodating. She told me I need to wait at most 30 minutes for my room to be ready. It was fine since I saw on the lobby that they have Mac Computers available for public use. I was about to turn my back but she told me, she just got the info from housekeeping that my room was ready. That was quick. She gave me my room key and the morning newspaper.
The lobby was spotlessly clean. Elevator functioned properly. The corridor was impressively well-lit and decorated. And my room was exactly as I expected.. exactly what was on the website. TV with foreign English channels worked. Aircondition was quiet and warm. The window was wide and had an excellent view. The curtains were really sun-proof so it was dark when you close it to sleep. Toilet and bath had a smell of bleach but I was impressed with the lighting and fixtures. There's a choice of comfy pillows on the firm bed. Room lighting was well appointed.
Breakfast was included in the room rate. Western and Chinese food selection was OK. Restaurant staff greeted and smiled at me. They spoke and understood English. Restaurant windows were wide and had a considerable amount of morning sunshine.
A huge western supermarket called April Gourmet is just a minute away on foot. Sanlitun Village is 10 to 15 minutes away on foot or by cab. The bars at the Worker's Stadium is on the next block. Two subway stations are nearby - Dongsishitiao or Dongzhimen Station. Kenny Roger's and other western restaurants are in the vicinity. It's close to the embassy area and some shopping areas too.
Only thing negative was I could hear the baby crying from my next door neighbor's room at 5am. But I couldn't fault them on that.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for it's location, efficient and friendly-staff, cleanliness and good-value for money. So, Thank you Beijing Dongzhimen HI Express. I'll keep coming back.

1. Very colde since airconditioner doesn't work.
2. Third floor too noisy. And was woken up by the noise of washing machine at 4 o'clock in the morning.

My regular place to stay in Beijing. Close to subway, airport connections and train termini. Good eating out options, Chinese western and cheap eats, near by, western supermarket around the corner. Room comfortable and stylishly designed in HI Express style. Free wifi throughout hotel and Macs available in lobby area. Priority club members (platinum at least- from personal experience) get fruit plate, newspaper and free soft drink voucher on arrival, as well as late check out (4pm if not busy) and pay at any time options. Definitely the best choice in this area!

If you're looking for a great rate, a small but clean and modern room in a newer hotel, the Holiday Inn Dongzhimen is a great choice. I was in BJ on business for a week -- with meetings all over the city -- and this was a great location. The subway is an (easy# 12-15 minute walk. Or take taxis from the hotel. More a residential neighborhood than were I've stayed previously. Free in-room wireless. Decent breakfast choices #Yes b'fast room is crowded but sit wherever there's space. Everyone is friendly.) No restaurant on-site for dinner, but several nearby. Sulitan Village with its restaurants and bars and and shops and Starbucks is only a 10 minute walk. I will travel to BJ quarterly in 2013 and I definitely will stay here again. A great find.

Arguably the best Cost/Value ratio in the so-called CBD district. CLEAN, SAFE, COMFORTABLE, FRIENDLY/WILLING STAFF. Good affordable Chinese, Western and other restaurants within walking distance. Mistakes, if any, corrected quickly. I once asked if rooms had refrigerators in them. Was told "no; but we can certainly put one in for you if you wish". Possibly one of the consistently cleanest hotels I stay in. Only drawback for first time visitor, is not so easy to find. But worth it. Ask for a map or print one preferably in Chinese and your own language (most Beijing taxi drivers are not Beijingers but come in from elsewhere to work - don't depend on them).

Speedy checkin, customer care and speedy checkout defines this hotel and these three things matter the most to me.
During my last stay, unfortunately, an emergency situation took place back at my home and I had to check out at 4am in the morning; the staff understood that I was in a hurry and barely took 3 minutes and I was out which included printing the invoice, charging my credit card, returning my deposit which was in dollars and a few other formalities; had they taken even five minutes extra, I would not have been able to catch the 630am flight - you guys have helped me beyond your imagination and I pledge my loyalty to Holiday Inn Dongzhimen!

可能酒店现在入住率上去了，几乎不允许让客人使用协议价。从长远来看，会影响客人入住的积极性。
希望酒店能够重视协议客户，毕竟酒店现在良好的入住率也是协议客户支持下获得的。

You've never seen an HI Express like this! The common areas are elegant, the rooms chic. (OK, the rooms could do with a pinch less chic and a touch more storage). ChunXiu Street is leafy and rather Parisienne with small shops and restaurants, with none of the sterility of Sanlitun to the East. It's an easy walk to two subway stations, including the Airport Express train.
The front desk staff is civil, not warm. They follow the Chinese hotel custom of charging the full estimated cost of your stay to your card, and adjusting it on checkout. The final bill didn't quite match the rate I booked online and I might take this up with IHG, but overall the value was tremendous.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Express Dongzhimen. The room was extremely confortable and very relaxing after a hectic day touring Beijing. I certainly had a good nights sleep in my room. The ensuit bathroom was excellent and well provided for, I found it ideal for having a relaxing shower. I was generally satisfied with my room and felt it fulfilled all my needs as a visitor to Beijing. I also enjoyed my breakfast and I was certainly impressed with the wide choice of both Western and Chinese menus. The on site laundrette certainly came in handy. I also found the reception staff very helpful in helping me with the day to day matters of being a visitor to Beijing. A pleasant hotel with a good environment and a certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay there again for my next trip to Beijing.

We were very pleased with the location of the hotel and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The food at breakfast time was adequate, there could have been more choice for cereals as the same choice was offered every day. We stayed there originally for 7 days and then went off travelling around China and decided to return to the hotel for our last 2 days before returning to UK because we were very pleased with the hotel.

Everything was fine until the horror of realizing that when I was getting ready to check out there were no taxis. There were at least 20 people waiting outside all wanting taxis, and I had only 1.5 hours to get to the airport to check in.
The hotel staff was unable to deal with the situation whatsoever. Their response was 'so busy today.' It was 9:30 on a Monday morning. I asked the hotel staff to contact the taxi company, and tell them to send more cabs. They looked at me like I was some clueless foreigner and did nothing.
Sometime later, one of the hotel staff told me about the airport express about a 20-minute walk away. I knew about it, but I had alot of luggage, and really wanted a taxi. I didn't have the time but tore off in that direction anyway. It didn't matter. I missed my flight, and had to spend a whole day in Beijing airport.
When I look back, I recall asking the hotel service desk before I made the reservation what was the easiest way to get to the airport. They said I could take a taxi. Ugh.

What made me remember is its location, as its quite near the Airport Express Dongzhimen station, which is around 10-15minutes walk.
As I arrived in Beijing, at the peak hour (5.30pm/6pm) where people are leaving from work, I got on the airport express, and walked to the hotel, it was not too hard to find.
The check in was quick, and the room is clean and nicely done.
The broadband was not bad, and just plug and play and just a click to agree to the terms and you are online.
The shower, had hot water almost immediately which quite impress me, as at some hotels, you need to wait for the water to "warm up".
The hotel location is near to Sanlitun, and bars as well as the 2 bigger clubs in Beijing, Mix, and Vics. Very nice to chill at night, and along chunxiu road, there are a few eateries.

Booked this hotel because of low points required and thought it would be a "so so" one. First surprise with nice lobby and small tea garden at the back. Second surprise with the neat room. Third surprise with big resturant with good breakfast choice..

Clean, polite and efficient staff from the front desk to the cleaning ladies. There is only one thing about the front desk I still don't get: a couple before me wanted a Queen-bed room and the front desk said they don't have any. But then when it was my turn, I was given a queen-bed room which I did not ask. Ohter than this puzzle, the front desk staff were warm, helpful, and efficient.
Location is pretty good,many stores around, from extravagant western grocery store to cheap Chinese cigarette-alcohol stores. Not far from Airport express station (20 minutes of walk).
The room-size, however, is rather small; if there are two persons staying in the room, it can feel crowded.
All in all, the value is pretty good comparing with other western hotels in Beijing.

From Aug 22 I stayed in two rooms on 15th and 18th floor for total five nights. One had very strong mold smell, then changed to the other one. It had less mold smell but some bleach smell.
Both are facing garden towards to the north end.
the rest is better than I expected.

附近吃饭的选择很多,各种价位都有。附件还有“绿叶子”超市，可以买到品质较高的食品和饮料。
另外去机场很方便。
