Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mar1969 It shouldn't be a Holiday Inn
The proprty is hidden deep in an allay, dark at night, not safe if you walk in, and difficult to drive in. The place is old, badly in need of TLC. Rooms are smelly and poorly appointed. Carpets are filthy, dark stains all over. Overall impression - it shouldn't be a Holiday Inn.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mar1969 Not up to standards
The property is hidden deep inside an alley - difficult access. Rooms are old, dirty and not well appointed, not big enough. The whole place is shabby and doesn't meet the brand's standards. Service is rather average. Problems with having dinner.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CRN1 At Holiday Inn Express Standard
Although renovations on the internal court yard were in progress
Beijing Minzuyuan was definitely what I expect of HI Express which is to say very good.
Breakfast was more than ample including both Asian and Western food. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable.
No refrigerator was in our room which was odd although given it was -4c outside you only had to leave items by the window for them to cool.
It is a bit out of the town centre (beyond walking) but the super efficient Beijing subway is only 300m away and a large shopping mall is right next door. Be sure you take the right subway exit when you return as you would not want to cross this road.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rossco677 Comfortable bed, large room, good internet
The hotel is well located in the Olympic precinct of Beijing. One gets the feeling that Holiday Inn Express has only recently taken over the management of the property and are slowly converting the hotel to their usual high standards.
The bed was very comfortable
The room was large, working space acceptable, great bathroom and in particular the shower.
The food choice was unacceptable for westerners, this includes breakfast and other meals.
The hotel staff had sufficient English to get by.
